Default Beach Babble - Monday, January 26

For a change, I'm not crabbing about the cold this morning because I "forgot" to turn down the furnace last night! The back room may or may not be cozy when I go down there as I just loaded the stove up with wood at bedtime and crossed my fingers that it was going to take.

This will be short as I see lots of new posts to check out. I have been having trouble loading posts - seems to be a problem with transmission from the new server which is in Texas. I post and it takes nearly a minute and reading posts sometimes takes that long. Maybe I need to move!

Today is Gail Day so I'll do a slight tidy and be back later with coffee.

Hello everyone, I am back from my weekend trip to Boston. I had a great time eating lobster and hanging out in bookshops. I bought nine books. You would think that we had no bookshops near where I live! I also bought some clothes, and went to a hockey game - saw the Bruins get well and truely beaten by the Florida Panthers. I am amazed that a Florida ice hockey team can beat a New England one??!! Great fun all round.

I am tired today as I flew in on the red eye. I have a couple of clients today, but as soon as I have done that I will be curled up by the fire with a book (I have a lot to read...!!).

I more or less stuck to the programme on my break, although there was definitely some 'less' in there as well as the 'more', notably a large chocolate muffin yesterday at the airport. So I am straightening myself out with another two weeks on phase one, starting today. I bought a teapot in Boston (well, of all the souvenirs it seemed most appropriate), and so will be sitting here in the mornings with a big pot of something herby.

Good to see you are all doing so well.

Good morning!
Thank you for your good thoughts/prayers for my Dad, Gavinsmom, Chaz and Franny. He's at the hospital now, and should be feeling pretty good by this afternoon. He actually didn't look too bad yesterday. I think he's getting more accepting of his condition, and is learning to take it easy during the latter part of the month.
I'm off on my walk to the Market to see my psycho. It's ummm... -32C with the windchill. (you girls didn't know you were going to get a running commentary on Canadian weather this winter, did you? ) I wonder if I can get DH to drive me a few blocks closer...
Bamiegirl, what a huge project!

Okay... must run... will be back later.
Ruthie, I'm glad you're warm, hon...

Good Mornin' lil chickies! Well I love the weather reports it makes me appreciate this 43 degree mornin'! Don't shoot me Ruth! By the way Ruth you could always move south. My subdivision is growin by leaps and bounds so you can build it like ya like it!

Clovey I have heard about the lobsters in Boston. A guy that works for my dh brought me back some lobster bisque from Maine over the summer. Let me just say I have never had any that was as good as that was! yum yum
Also I'm a tepot collector. They will never be used as I'm an iced tea drinker versus hot tea. Which now I'm a no tea cause I like it sweet with the real stuff. There is just no equal! Glad you had a good trip.

Ellis
yes you are right what a project! But Praise the Lord the inside will be done and he is moving in next weekend. But I tell ya the punch list never ends! I'll be sure and put you and your family on my prayer list. Glad to hear he is doin' well all things considered.

I hope everyone has a great Monday! Can't wait to read all the posts of weigh ins today!

Morning chickies! Just a quick one before I throw this computer out the window! It just slowed waaaaaay down for some reason...probably sick of having image after image of upholstery fabric going through it's memory or something!

I am glad to be home after the drive to/from work. Roads are horrible, but at least most folks had the good sense to say off of them last night. Of course this morning numerous people called the police department to inquire as to road conditions. I couldn't help but tell a couple that I didn't know because I had been at work all night! I'm just in one of those moods....

Ellis, honey stay warm! That is quite a trek in such cold weather...I worry about you.

Well, I have to go and get some sleep. Take care, I'll check back in later...maybe my computer will wake up and smell the coffee before it is history!

Clovey! Gald you enjoyed Massachusetts, my home state! Yes, I have to agree, the lobsters around here are great! If you would like, I can get the name of a place where you can have them shipped right to your door! Let me know.

As for the weather, we are waiting for a big storm Tuesday night into Wednesday...doing the snow dance (need a day off!)

LOL @ Franny! I'd have told them that to just to be a smart@ss!

Ellis- I'm glad your dad is doing well, considering what he is going through. He continues to be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Ruth- once one of the kids turned the heat up and we never noticed, but stayed quite toasty during one of our cold snaps......and then we got the electric bill *groan*. Glad you are staying warm!

Well hopefully today is the big moving day! They better call or I am going to be The big hang up is the title company hemming and hawing and doing their own thing and not being cooperative to our situation or anyone elses for that matter. Then they get mad when someone from our "team" of people calls every hour on the hour give or take trying to get this done! You would think that with so many people calling and pestering them politley lol that they would want us out of their hair! So if I am not on for the next few days it's because I am moving.

Gotta run and read a few more posts and hopefully I will be back here and there even if just to read posts for 5 minutes!

I think they got us both cause we are supposed to get it as well! Thanks y'all my kids would love to have a snow day! Unlike up north it just covers the road and we're out. Hey I won't even have to clean up their mess from runnin in and out cause I won't be here. Although I'm sure my dh will leave it for me. Nuttin like comin home to a mess after you made sure you left it all neat and clean for 'em. Oh well I'm just glad to be getting away!

Hi, Everyone!

Yes, we are still "Frozen In" from the ice storm of yesterday. The whole area is stalled. The good news is that it should unthaw by this afternoon....The bad news is that tonight we're supposed to get hit with a round of snow. DEN........I think our weather people are the same!!!! They must travel back and forth giving "OFF BEAT" weather reports!

This weather is getting me down! FRANNY......it's whiny time for me, too! I never seem to stay on program when I have to be inside. We haven't been out since Sat. and I have been eating everything but the kitchen sink! I hate it when I get this way. Somebody just give me a swift kick!!!!

I'm determined to get out of this house today even if I have to slide on my to get there. DH says he will drive me to the grocery and the post office. I just love this man! I will get some OP foods then!

Oh, BTW....we called our DS and DIL last night. You know the Texas family???? Well, I almost hung up on them when they told me they were going around in shorts with 76 degrees. This is around the Dallas/ Worth area, girls. Florida, here we come!!!!!!

ELLIS....I will keep your dad and you in my prayers, hon'.
EMILY.....you and your sweet little ones are in my prayers, too!
FRANNY....lets join up for a whiny club. OK?????? We'll feel better in Spring!
CLOVEY.....I'm glad you're back, and that you had such a good trip! Missed you!
Ruth.....I usually turn the heat down at night, too. Then DH complains because it's cold. He and I have different cooling systems in our bodies! Guess it's the hormones!!!

Have a great day, Chickies. Wish me luck getting to the store on the ice! I think I need LittleChick's skis!
Hugs....
Sharon

Ellis, that is an encouraging report on your Dad! I truly believe in the power of prayer and positive thoughts!!!

As far as weather goes, we're getting freezing rain today on top of 8 inches of snow + a couple inches of sleet from yesterday!! The governor has declared a state of emergency!!! I told you us Southerners cant handle winter weather!
I just hope we dont lose our power!! I need my internet buddies!!!! Gotta go get the candles, blankets, etc together just in case. I'll check back later!!

Hi All!!! We under under a weather Alert here now. Too soon to tell if they are over or underestimating it. It was SUPPOSED to get bad earlier and it hasn't thank goodness!! I want the freezing rain to hold off until my hubbie is home!!!

Ellis-Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. Must be a real PAIN for him to have to go through that every month. My Dad's leg started up again, so they put him on more antibiotics which didn't seem to be working. he is back to the doctor today to be changed to something else.

Deets-I think we must be getting YOUR weather. They are saying freezing rain followed by 4-8 inches of snow.....DO I BELIEVETHEM?!?! YEESH!!!

Just a quick Hello:
We are back from our Cruise, and I brought back a lovely head cold for a souvenir. I have finished all the laundry, and now am babying myself. Had to buy a box of Puffs with lotion, as the tissue on the ship was made of sandpaper. We really did have a great time, and even tho' I tried to be OP most of the time, I weighed in today and gained 3 lbs. so now back to Phase I, or something like it. I couldn't ignore some of the more exotic foods. But they had a good menu for lo-cal, and I tried to stay on that mostly.
Some of the side-trips we took, made us even more thankful for all of our blessings here. Terrible poverty, and lack of sanitation.

I have tried to get caught up some, but just don't have time to read everything. Hope things are better with all the sick family members, Ellis. Shall we try to lose our 3lbs together.
I got some SouthBeach Diet updates, and we can now include fatfree or 1% milk, and yogurt(plain of vanilla light only) Phase 1. In Phase 2 add light/lite fruited yougurt.
No limit on tomatoes.
No limit on onions
Carrots allowed starting in Phase 2.

See you tomorrow. Lizzie
