Once I was at a very formal dinner with Stuart (a long story!) and they did the whole pipe in the haggis bit. I nearly choked on the blood from my bitten tongue. It was so silly and so formal. And then this guy stood up and "Addressed the Haggis". I said to S., "Thank God it's not addressed to me!" He was not amused. We broke up a few weeks later but he did look buff in his kilt.

:rofl: ummmm.... I am Scottish and I happen to like haggis and eat it whenever I get the opportunity. And I have gone to a Burns supper - it was fun- good dinner, good wine, followed by Scottish Dancing :) They stab the haggis to make sure it is dead ;) not sure about the sporran though :shrug:

Haggis? I dont think I could stomach it...I am funny about foods that I can't readily identify, or that look bloody! My husband loves Indian food...I eat the bread only! :D

DH is a Scot and on Burns Night *always* reads the "Ode to a Haggis," which, you ought to know Ruth, is by Robbie Burns Himself!

It's not the address to the Haggis you have to worry about - it's the *reply* of the Haggis that's alarming.... :dizzy:

You beat me to it Ellis!! That was going to be my response too. I'm part Scottish, but don't even like the IDEA of haggis. (Although I do tell guests that is what I am making for dinner sometimes!!!)

I'll just stick to the single malt....
