HELP!! Have a Salad Dressing question

  • I am on my way to the store after Sex in the City!!! Don't most store bought dressings have some sort of sugar??? Did I read I can have them but they have to be less than 3 grams of sugar????

Please help!! I am starting in the morning and am already confused!

    TIA!
  • I look at the ingredients and look for any sugar word like; sugar, fructose, sucrose or corn syrup, mollasses, stuff like that. I think I heard that Newmans Own has some good choices. I mostly stick to making my own with balsamic vinager, olive oil, garlic salt and pepper.
  • Suzy's right, Chaz... check the ingredient list. I usually make my own, too.
  • For those of you that make your own salad dressing I have a question.
I made the balsamic vinagrette recipe that is in the SBD book. Well, a couple days later it was a big glob? Anyone know why the oil turned into a big icky glob? LOL My hubby microwaved it to make it smooth again but I wasn't quite sure I wanted it on my salad after that :0)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :0)

We are on day 6 and so far so good.
  • kjofaz, I don't have my book to hand. (and I'm too lazy to go and look for it right now ) What kind of oil is in the dressing? Is it olive oil? Because that'll solidify slightly in the fridge. (yuck!)
  • Yup, it uses olive oil. So what can I use that is ok for the diet that won't solidify?
  • I had some Newmans Own, Light Balsamic Vinegarette dressing in the fridge...I read the back...It has 2g carb and 1g sugar. Can I use that in Phase 1?? It is really good and I love it on cucumbers.

    Help Please
  • Yes you can use that Newmans Own dressing. The book says any dressing with less than 3g of sugar per serving.
  • kjofax, I think you're either going to have to "get over it solidifying", or make a smaller quantity. Olive oil really is the best oil to use. I know it's a drag, but we usually make up just enough for what we need at the time. Or you could take it out of the fridge an hour or so before using it and give it a few good shakes...
