Default Soy Nuts

I saw the updated Sticky on Phase 1 foods and saw we can enjoy 1/4 cup soy nuts. I'm on phase 2 and picked up a bag of soy nuts today. All I could find besides the honey roasted was the lightly salted. I noticed on the list of ingredients was vegetable oil (sunflower and/or cottonseed oil). I know vegetable oil isn't allowed and I had some tonight, so did I mess up? I haven't been able to find soy nuts without some oil or honey or something added to it. Do you think the soy nuts I bought will fit into the SBD plan?

As far as I can tell, neither sunflower or cottonseed oil have a hight level of saturated fat or trans fat in them, so I THINK they would be okay. Maybe someone here has better info?

I think you're ok. Dr. A says you can eat plenty of mono- and poly-unsaturated fats (page 12 in the book), and although he specifically does not name sunflower and cottonseed oil, both of these are primarily unsaturated. Saturated fats are solid at room temperature...for example lard and butter. Palm oil and coconut oil are very high in saturated fat.

I think he specifically recommends olive and cannola oil because these oils have other health benefits, the omega fatty acids, which are good for your heart.

So go ahead and enjoy your soy nuts.
