Default The Wonderful Weekend! April 9 & 10

Whew It was a rough week and I am so glad to have nothing on the schedule for two days except a doggie play-day tomorrow.

Yesterday's candidate was late for her interview - very late! Due at ten and arrived at 11. Not good and she didn't call. "Forgot my phone" She drove here from Ottawa with no map or Google instructions and really managed to get lost. Duh! She also was dressed like hooker. Needless to say she is off our list!

Anna and I have decided we have done enough interviewing and are pretty sure we have five chosen. Now we wait for the grant news so we can make the selection.

My poor sister called last night to say they have sold the farmhouse (they do have another house on the property) and will be moving all the furniture out today with the help of the rest of the family. Joan was counting on bringing the crew to Delta tomorrow for pancakes at the Syrup Festival but it's not until next weekend. I did not offer to do breakfast for them since it would mean eight adults and six entitled princesses!

I'm tired and intend to be as nice to myself as possible because I don't see another weekend "free" until May 7 and that's four weeks.

Another coffee and some dog cuddling is on the agenda right now. Come and join me!

Good morning

Ruth good for you! You need a weekend just for you. Do whatever floats your boat and enjoy some downtime. I wish I lived closer as I would like to go to the syrup festival. Lol the hooker comment made me laugh. Some "women" just don't understand the concept of business attire.

Welcome back Gabbs!!! Of course we remember you. Looking forward to catching up.

Nikki hope you treated yourself to some pretty spring makeup. I must admit my makeup routine is almost non existent lol. Not sure how you eat your eggs. I like to put fresh uncooked spinach on a plate then add sunny side up eggs with turkey and cheese on top. For some reason I cannot tolerate the taste of cooked spinach.

Not feeling like myself this week. My stomach isn't quite right yet. Yesterday I napped until I had to force myself to get ready for work. Hoping today will be a little better. N

Good morning -

Ruth coffee and dog cuddling sounds great.

Jennifer- Yesterday I put some laughing cow in my cheese and scrambled them. At some point this weeken I will dice some onions and peppers so I can just throw them in as well.

Hi Gabbs nice to meet you

I did get my spring make up yesterday. I went to Clinique and bought primer, concealer, foundation, I intended to buy 1 lipstick and came home with 4 I could not decide. I got a free gift too it was has 2 kinds of face cream, blush, eyeshadow, mascara and a lipstick. I am a girly girl I can't wait to lose this weight and be able to dress that way again. I love flowy dresses in the summer. I have a communion May 7th and I am hoping by then I can buy myself a new dress. I will not buy any clothes until I lose 15 or more lbs. Today will be a crazy day I think my friend is coming to help me with the compliant, legal part of what will hopefully be my new business. Then we will get a late lunch/early dinner.

Ruth - Sounds like an interesting interview! A young person forgetting their phone is quite bizarre though...normally it's personally attached to their hand . Too bad she dressed like a hooker, unless that's the image you want the mill to have

Jennifer - ick, hope you are back to normal quick, I'm sure after your procedure it would take a while for the body to reset itself. I don't care for cooked spinach either, although I do love it in that Italian soup (ooohhh, I should make that!).

Nicole - I discovered I LOVED feta in with my breakfast casseroles. I really should make one of those again, they're so easy. DH is trying to lose weight and watch his carbs, he might appreciate it too.

Gabbs - I remember you too, especially since you didn't change your profile pic! Welcome back! SBD is such a realistic way of eating, I wish more people knew it. Everyone just says, "oh, low carb". Most of the time I'll set them straight, but not all the time...

There is some of that white fluffy stuff out there. Shhhhhh. It is beautiful though. If I were normal, I'd go outside and walk on it just to hear the crunch and the smell of it (everything smells so crisp!). There's really not enough for the kids to play in, darned it. What's funny is DH works for the Fish and Boat Commission, and today is the day they have to work and greet all the fishermen. I wonder how many are out? Gives the boys something to talk about, LOL.

I just get to keep the kids in line and make dinner. I did go to Macy's yesterday and get some good deals, and told DD there was a royal purple robe there, but it was a zip up (so house coat). She didn't care, she wants it, and I don't want her wearing mine anymore! So we might be off to Macy's too.

Enjoy the day! I hope Cyndi's not crying if she got some of the fluffy white stuff too!

Good morning,

Woke up to a sunny cold day, I will take it. Today is DH and mine 28th Anniversary so we will go out to eat later (have a plan to make sure I stay op), DD1 said she would stay with DD2. I do have to get some cleaning done today but that is all on my agenda.

Ruth it cracks me up how some people just don't know how to dress for an interview. The interviews yesterday were a bust so we continue on to next week. Glad you are giving yourself some me time.

Jekel I hope you get back to feeling normal soon

Nicole sounds like you scored some cosmetics yesterday. I do cook some spinach with my eggs, I like it. I saute with just a bit of coconut oil before adding eggs, easy way to get some veggies in

Tywnn I have been seeing that the east coast has been seeing s*** guess we still have a few more weeks before we are totally out of the woods in that department. Way to score deals at Macy

Gabs I remember you, welcome back.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Just a fly by this morning, but I hope to be back tonight for more catch-up. the flu held on for a solid week. We had testing at school, so I dragged myself in every day. I'm sure that didn't help my recovery. Finally took yesterday off. DH and I both slept the day away. Today everyone feels better, so we plan to enjoy the sunny day. I've got garden stuff to do and some outdoor time to catch-up on Hope the sun is out where you are.

Rose - Happy anniversary!

We have sunny but very chilly today; it won't be above freezing. Coming home from work yesterday we practically had a white out it was snowing so hard! My poor daffodils are patiently waiting for a shift in the temperature so they can finally bloom.

I have already been out to get groceries; the stores sure are busy if you don't get there early enough Saturday!! Oh well, now we are stocked up for the time being. I'm usually too wiped out to go after work. This afternoon will probably be laundry and perhaps some paperwork. I need to help DS2 file his taxes, but luckily it's the short form and he qualifies to do it for free.

Ruth, hope you really do get to enjoy your day and relax. And tell me about girls that don't know how to dress! I live that reality every day.
Jennifer, hope you feel better soon.
Nikki, what a score! I've gotten a bit more girly in my old age; it was a defense mechanism against only having sons. lol
Cyndi, hope you get some more rest this weekend.
Welcome back, Gabs.

Have a good day, chicks.

Hi!

Happy Anniversary Pearlrose ! Enjoy your dinner out!

Gabby, welcome back! Beautiful weather we are having! I will take some rain if it comes.

Sorry about cold and sn*w East coast chicks! It will pass.

I started early in the yard and never got in to post. Boy did I get a lot done! I even started some seeds in my little greenhouse. It's super hot inside and I think the gravel I put on the floor will hold the heat through the night even if we get a freeze. Got my sweet peas planted outside as well as some in the greenhouse. Did a little watering and even had to mow part of the lawn. I love it my mower started right up. So glad we got a new one two years ago.

I am pecking away from my phone. Nap time.

Tammy, can't believe all the beautiful fish the kids caught. I went to the FB page and looked at them all.

Good morning! I'm up and at it despite listening to neigbours' noise at 2 a.m. Who starts to listen to hard rock at 2 a.m.? My neighbour's son, that's who! I'll have to have a word with the lad who was on his own for the weekend and supposed to be studying for an exam.

Spent yesterday morning puttering on sewing stuff and got bindings done and machine sewn onto five quilts! Now they just need hand sewing of the bindings. At about ten hours of hand sewing each, that'll be a string of TV watching nights. I may farm some out to get them done. We try to have at least ten ready for when we get a call that someone is starting cancer treatment and, of course, that always happens when the stash is very low.

In the afternoon, I took a flying drive to town to pick up a serving cart at a restaurant supply store Had to stop at Katherine's lovely old 1806 stone farmhouse to show her - and to ask her engineer husband to put it together for me. K. is a professional events coordinator and full of fabulous ideas! I brain-pick a lot from her but it is reciprocal. It was wonderful to just sit and chat about personal stuff for two hours! Her house was filled with potted bulbs she had forced into bloom. I didn't get home until nearly 6 and realized I hadn't just sat, sipped tea with a friend and chatted for way too long. I need more of that.

Today Angus the big Springer comes for a play date while Lisa and her family do a day trip. Millie adores Angus and play fights with him all the time. She's a chubby 15 pounds and he's close to 50 but she can take him. Jazz just lies on his bed and observes the shenanigans! I will do deskwork, laundry and maybe some quilting and plan a quiet evening with PBS.

Wishing you all a balanced Sunday with scents and sights of spring!

Good morning quick fly by as I am off to a graveside service soon. A coworker's mom passed away. Afterwards going to Joe's. Hope to get my groceries and an oil change while I am there. I plan on making a quinoa salad to have with lunch/dinner this week. I have none of the ingredients oops!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Good morning!

A quick hello before I head off to work. Still need to make my smoothie. Can't live without it. I traded my coworker she will work the back room today. It means I have to stay late and vacuum but will make more money. LOL. I'm not doing anything after I get home. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Good morning, early chicks! It is in the low teens here this morning but the sun is shining brightly (makes the frost sparkle) and it should be warmer today than yesterday. I will try to get DH to take a walk a bit later this morning, then I think it's back to Lowe's for assorted items. I may pick up some more garden soil since the big sale is ending and I want to be sure to have enough for the new raised bed I want to make. BTW, I saw the neatest thing in a garden catalog; a 4' x 8' sheet of weed barrier fabric with seed discs implanted. There was a salad mix and a smoothie mix. Just lay it on your bed and water. These were a bit expensive but I may look around for similar options; or maybe it will be seed tape for those tiny seeds that I don't thin well.

Debbie, I'm working hard on teaching my kids your lesson: more work usually equals more money. That can be tough to learn. Have a good day at wok and I'm jealous you got to do yard work yesterday while I was watching the snow melt!

Ruth, I'm glad you had such a nice visit. Your plan for today sounds great. Hope you actually get to do it!

Jennifer, thoughts to you for the funeral. Enjoy your time with Joe.

DH is planning on grilling tonight so I need to make a plan for the next few nights' dinners. If we have steak tonight, we will need chicken for tomorrow, I think...

Wow, I'm not the only one up and at it this sunny Sunday morning. Good morning I've got strawberry rhubarb oatmeal in the oven with the last of the rhubarb. The freezer is starting to look empty, as it should this time of year. We had a great day of light gardening, walking, a little birding, and errands. Today will be more of the same.

I need to find a good crockpot soup to toss in for lunches. Anyone have a favorite? I've got plenty of recipes, but sometimes I forget the ones I used to like.

Ruth - Doesn't sound like there was quite as much studying going on as advertised

Jennifer - quinoa salad sounds yummy. I need to transition my brain to more salads now that the weather is changing (well soon, when it actually does!)

Debbie - Hope it's a productive day. I need to find some sweet peas this year. Yours always look so beautiful.

Beth - Hope you warm up today. We are thinking grilling here too. Maybe it really is spring!

Happy Sunday Chicks

Quinoa salad! I'd forgotten that! I've not been eating properly - no breakfast except coffee and get heck from my PT. I have food, just no ambition so will work on changing that this week. I have a pasta sauce with dried mushrooms and assorted peppers simmering right now and will have it over spaghetti sauce tonight, I think. Now I'll search around for a quinoa salad recipe. First another coffee and some dog petting.

Good morning,

I did get all of my chores except laundry done yesterday. Then we took DD2 and friend to the Zoo for a bit, nice day. DH and I went to dinner so all in all it was a nice day.

I have laundry going now and we are going to DS Hockey this afternoon.

Ruth sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday only interrupted by the loud music.

Beth those barrier fabrics sound interesting.

Jekel thinking of you for the funeral and for the rest of the day hope you accomplish everything you need. Are you feeling better?

Debbie little extra work is worth it for extra money. Hope your day at work goes by quickly.

Cyndi glad you are both feeling better, that oatmeal smells good from here

Have a wonderful Sunday!
