I am on day 1 of phase 1 and was wondering if there was anyone around the same height / weight as I am and had success.
Thanks!

Hi Kiley welcome to South Beach. I have had much success losing and maintaining by following SB principles. I am taller, but my starting weight was 167, although my highest weight was 226 twenty years ago. I do find it takes a conscious effort to keep the weight off as I age, I'm 44. However for me SB is the right choice for me. I'm done with trendy fad diets. Everyone is different, but if you follow the principles you will see results. Feel free to post questions, daily menus or anything that is on your mind. There is a great group of people on this forum with lots of good insight. Checking in helps me stay focused. Plus all the recipes is an added bonus as I tend to get in food ruts lol. Good luck

I was 5'3" at the time (I gained an inch with spinal surgery !) and started out at 144. I lost 20 lbs, it took me 4 months - I saw you had 5 months to lose 20 lbs, and I think that is very doable if you are dedicated. I probably would've lost it faster if I didn't have an issue with overindulgence in cashews .

South beach isn't a fast and easy way of eating (like pre made Jenny Craig, etc), but it is a very realistic and healthy way to eat. You'll learn to prep and find your favorite recipes. I would make a bowl of my favorite salad (like black bean) at the beginning of the week and bring it to lunch all week to save time; breakfast casseroles and reheat it in the toaster oven all week; and I LOVE soups so in cooler weather I would make a pot and have that. Lots of crock pot meals as well (chili!! creamy Mexican crock pot is Jennifer and my fav!) too.

Good luck in your journey! Join us on the daily thread and ask as many questions as you'd like.

Thank you both so much for your response. It feels great knowing that my goal is possibility!

One question - How do I upload my weight loss ticker?

A moderator would know better than me. I think you have to be a member for 30 days or 25 posts. I know I had the same question when I joined, but my brain is full of so many useless things this one slipped out.
