I'm rested after yesterday's crazy work and I'm headed over the hill. Travel is so peaceful at night and it's always quite beautiful. Was thinking this morning how grateful I am to have such a solid food plan which makes everything else so much easier.....
I've showered, packed my tote, made the bed and have done some other pick up so I'll return to a pleasant atmosphere. The last thing I'll do is unplug my outdoor wreath....It's been so bright and cheery but now I'm the only one left with outdoor lights and I'm feeling a little "odd". LOL
Good morning! You beat me to it, Debbie. I was awake but messing around elsewhere on the Net.
The deep freeze continues - it's -20ºF right now. I am so glad I got that auto-start thingie for my car and have full tanks of heating oil and propane for the house. The furnace and stove keep pumping out the heat to just keep up with the cold and this house is very well insulated! I have baked beans in the oven right now and that will help and smell darned good later in the day!
The only appointment on the agenda today is pet therapy so I should get a few more house tasks done. There is still Christmas stuff to be stashed away and Michelle will be here to clean tomorrow. I may be able to work in a "shoe shop" in town while she's here.
Debbie, have a safe drive over the hill.
Ruth, my DH bought me a remote started for Christmas. I can't wait!!
Last night, I *almost* felt human again! Let's hope today is another good day. I walked like a robot yesterday still, but mentally I was doing great (still didn't eat well, but let's look at that as a gift!). I really want to start doing little tasks, to figure out if I can handle work or not. I was hoping to start management stuff next week (just a couple of sitting hours/day), and clinicals Feb 2nd. Keep your fingers crossed!
I didn't make the Mexican crockpot Monday, so that's on the schedule today. Have my standard loops, and maybe just a *little* of something else. Maybe.
I will be having a short drive at night, tonight, Debbie. Maggie has her band concert at school tonight and has been giving off strong vibes that she really wants me to be there. *sigh* At least it's supposed to be a clear night, but I may decide to stay overnight at the farm afterwards. Enjoy your ride, and I hope all is well with Kirk's DD.
Ruth, I can just imagine your house being all snug and warm, and with the wonderful aroma of baked beans wafting through the house. Have a nice time shoe shopping, and are you going to treat yourself to lunch while you're out? Oh! BTW, Happy Birthday dear friend!
Tammy, easy does it, but it sounds like you are finally starting to return to normal, thank goodness! Enjoy a peaceful day, and don't try to do too much!
We're at a balmy 16* this morning, but it's clear out.
Today I pack. I've got most of the non-clothes items laid out now. Trying to split them as I go into "carry-on" vs. checked luggage. I have so many snacks that I might have to take some out to lighten my weight! I really need to try packing and weighing - if I'm not too close to the limit, I don't have to struggle so hard to not over-pack.
I'll print off and read through all our hard copy materials today. Other than that, I'm planning to do my best to relax. Probably will try to watch TV to clear out our recorder a bit more; there is a lot that will record in our absence.
The weather is supposed to be unseasonably balmy here when we are gone so hopefully you all will enjoy some of that as well.
Oh - can't forget to go to they gym with my mom this morning!!!
Good morning It's bitter here too. Even the house was down to 57 last night, but I actually sleep best when it's that cool. Now I'm trying to get the temp back up in here!
Debbie - The drive does sound beautiful. I have to get to Colorado.
Ruth - We might still have our tree up. We were away the 6th and it's just happily sitting there and not shedding too much. I suppose this should really be the weekend though.
Tammy hope today is another step toward doing the things you want.
Cottage - hope you are enjoying those warm temps and sitting outside with your coffee
Karen - I need just a thimble of your planning skills! Lists are as good as I get
I suppose I should think about work. Lots of writing to do today.
It's Tim's dinner night. He decided he wants to cook one night a week. He has Wednesdays off every week so this is the easiest night for him. He cooked a lot when his kids were young but it was "old style" cooking, not the way we eat. He is having fun challenging himself and trying new recipes. Last week it was a curried sausage stuffed sweet potato. This week he is asking about cayenne pepper.
Cyndi Tim is quite the catch. How nice he wants to cook. I'm spoiled as Joe really likes cooking too. Im not even going to look at my thermostat. it is not even close to the temp I set it for lol.
Debbie I agree having a solid food plan truly helps.
Tammy glad you had a good day. Hope today is even better
Karen you must be so excited for your trip
Linda enjoy the concert and thanks for letting us know.......
Happy Birthday Ruth!!!! May your day be as special as you
Today is well whatever the day brings. I think Joe is coming for dinner, but not certain. We may just go out. I do have a few errands to run, but nothing really planned which is great. Hope everyone enjoys their day too
It is another freezing day here as well, tomorrow should be warmer which is good because I go into work tomorrow and Friday (have to attend Funeral for co-workers relative)
Sounds like everyone is doing well, sorry no personals but work is calling.
Debbie - Wow!! You are up early or up late or something!! I hope your travels were safe. I’m a huge chicken to travel in the dark.
Ruth - Another early bird!! When Michelle is done can you send her to my house?!? Hmmm…did someone say there was a birthday today?!?
Tammy - Fingers (and toes) crossed for you!
Linda - Stay warm!!
Karen - Good luck with the packing! I always seem to pack too much but in my mind I feel calmer when I know I am prepared for anything.
Cyndi - I wonder if I could get my hubby to do the cooking one night a week! Although he does all the grilling when I put that on the menu. Now I just need to figure out how to put every meal on the grill and I’ll have it made in the shade!!
Jennifer - Enjoy your day - hopefully it’s a restful, pleasant day!!
I have work today but hopefully it will be pretty quiet. I have dance class tonight so I am hoping for some good melting today. We went out last night to get my hair cut but my DH drove and it was a good thing. The ruts in our neighborhood would have removed the bottom of my car! It’s 27 now and the sun is just starting to come up so I expect it will warm quickly in just a little bit. We are forecast for 38 today and near 60 on Friday! Woohoo!!!
Hey chicks! Just stopping by on another chilly winter day. (I really must stop crabbing about the weather; makes me sound like an old person) At least we had lovely sunshine today.
Other than that, another hump day at work. Sometimes routine is good; there's good surprises and not so good surprises, ya' know.
Ruth and Debbie, I still have my lighted wreath up and am keeping it up a bit longer, along with the white lights in the living room stairway. The days are so short now that they brighten things up.
Tim is quite a catch. I never forget how incredibly lucky we are.
He worked without a recipe, just a concept, and it was yummy. His goal is to make things I might not make, so it's fun. Ultimately he wants to design our cooking spaces so we can cook together. I have to admit he would have cooked sooner but I really prefer cooking to doing dishes
