  • ... and for good luck. New month, new resolve and time to start to gear up for Christmas.

I need those bunnies here to help with the post-Halloween clean-up. I did not have very many kids and am stuck with leftovers. I wonder if bunnies eat Doritos which I detest so bought them instead of chips. The mini-granola bars will be a hit with the birds when I add them to the feeders. I don't like granola ether. Strange that there don't seem to be many red liquorice leftovers.

Not much on the plan today which is just as well since it is going to rain all day. I'll take down the Halloween decor and sweep the leaves from the front porch. It'll be a day so snuggle in and maybe do some quilting. That'll suit the dogs who seem tired this morning after all the excitement last night. (I kept them in the back of the house but they sure barked a lot when kids came to the door!)

How was the celebration in your neighbourhood? And do you have any tempting leftovers - or planovers?
  • good morning!

it's a beautiful calm morning here and I'm outside with the dog. He's never around and my neighbors are already heading out. They are very industrious.

Ruth, thanks for the rabbits! Glad that you had a plan for all those yucky treats. I don't like Doritos either.planning on getting a few things done around the house then heading out for an 8 o'clock meeting then it's pool time. I got a lot done yesterday so that I can relax a little bit today. We head back tomorrow I work Monday and Tuesday, then go pick up my sister and come right back for her monthly treatments.that means the house needs to be clean before I leave.

my dh is rising so I think I will enjoy a few more moments outside then go in to say hello. have a great weekend everyone!
  • Thanks Ruth I need the rabbits to give me will power this month. I had more kids then in recent years....the poor peanut M&M's didn't stand a chance once I turned off the lights. Thankfully they were mini bags. Dumped the remaining candy before I made coffee.

Cyndi your grandson is beautiful!!!! Love his name too!!! DD and her hubby are beaming.

Yesterday I was a slug, that is the best way I can describe myself. Today starts a new month and a new resolve. I have a busy week, but fun planned for the weekend. A retirement party Friday and college girls dinner Saturday. Tomorrow I am having supper with my sisters. Back to work on Monday. Tonight dinner and maybe a movie with Joe if he is not too tired from working on the house.

    Enjoy the dreary day
  • It's dreary here too. Rain expected all day but that's ok. We didn't have any ToTers last night; in my apt. building you can sign up and we didn't sign up (because we were out ToTing ourselves).

This morning I'm doing a bunch of errands and then I'm taking my son to a movie at 2 (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, etc.). We both enjoyed the book and are excited for the movie. Tonight I'm having my church fellowship circle group over for dinner. My church loves to eat and drink :-).

    Have a great day everyone!
  • PS Cindy!!
  • Good morning.

    Cyndi - He's gorgeous!

I can't believe it's November. I haven't asked DH if there is any leftover candy; I'm trying to pretend to myself that it doesn't exist.

My boss and I had an interesting conversation about weight last night. She has struggled for years and was trying to give advice to her daughter, in her early 20s, who is just now starting to have some weight issues. I shared that it took me years to figure out what (mostly) works for me and many times of being a yo-yo. Even as a "maintainer," it is something I have to work at all the time. I wish I was one of those people who could just go about life and eat and not have it be an issue.

I work again this afternoon. Tonight DH and I are going to a surprise 30th anniversary party for my next-door-neighbors thrown by their daughters. I can't imagine my sons EVER even acknowledging our anniversary!

Tomorrow we have a store meeting to gear up for the holiday season.

    Have a great weekend.
  • Morning, chicks! It certainly is Novembrrrr here: overcast, 34* and the chance of a s*@# flurry today (but no accumulation).

Ruth, I'm sure the animals will enjoy their extra treats. Enjoy your quiet day, if it really stays quiet.

    Debbie
, your sister must really appreciate all the support you are giving her.

Jennifer, it's fun to have those get-togethers to look forward to. I'm glad you had a nice visit with your Mom, and tonight you see your sisters too! I wish my family was closer.

    Matilda, enjoy the movie!

Karen, I'm with you on the fight with food. I also wish I was one of those people who can just eat. I guess we all have our issues.

Not sure what today will bring. There's always the normal niggles of cleaning, laundry and groceries...At least this weekend has 49 hours!!

    Have a good day, chicks!
  • Cyndi, wee little Dylan is absolutely adorable, and Mommy & Daddy look like he has them wrapped around his little finger already. Congratulations!

We got slammed in the first hour of Trick or Treating last night, but after that, only 3 more showed up. The leftover candy doesn't bother me in the least, Thank God!, so I don't mind having it around. I never was much of a candy eater.

It's a late check-in for me this morning, as yesterday when I called to schedule my mammo, I was offered the first appointment of this morning, due to a last minute cancelation, so I grabbed it! It meant having to get up and out early on this windy, rainy, day, but I didn't mind.

I think I may run out to Target later to browse around, and I'm going to Mass this evening, so that's the extent of my day. There should be time to curl up and read and doze this afternoon!
  • Good morning,

It is a brisk cold day here but the sun is out. My house is brimming with candy both leftover and the haul DD2 brought home. I was almost tempted to eat 1 bag of peanut m&m's but resisted and made myself something onplan to eat and that did the trick. I do love candy but am not tempted so as long as I stay on track having it around should be no issue.

Ruth thanks for the rabbits. We didn't put Blue up and every time kids showed up he wanted to go outside and say Hello to them. Luckily he doesn't bark

Debbie enjoy your pool time today

Jekel here's to a new month- my motivation for staying on track and trying to get some of this weight off is that we are going skiing for New Year's Eve and I need some weight off so I have more endurance and flexibility on the slopes.

Matilda I want to go see that movie, might be able to talk DD2 into going to movies today instead of playing with friends

Karen I think most of us wish we could eat whatever we wanted and not have weight issues my MIL is one of those but I have struggled my entire life.

Beth stay warm, I keep thinking it is way to early for the s word anywhere.

Cottage glad you were able to fit in your mammo today.

Cyndi I have to go and look at the picture but Congratulations. Just went and looked oh my he is so sweet. Love babies

I need to clean house today before running a few errands to pick up a few odds and ends.

    Have a wonderful Saturday
  • Good morning. "Spring forward, fall back" always discombobulates me! My body and the dogs take a while to adjust.

We are cold but sunny today so some outside work MAY get done. The only "must" I have today is to lug my big crockpot of chili over to the Fair Hall for the euchre that starts at one. I have a key and am going to take it over this morning and plug it in. That avoids "visiting" with folks and being pressured to play - I don't do cards.

I actually did a bit of online Christmas shopping yesterday! With the cost of mailing so high, I may be doing gift cards for my DD and her family who live on Vancouver Island. It seems rather cold but last year mailing cost me over$100 and the rates are up again this year. Last week I had to register a letter and it was $25 for a small envelope. Let's bring back the pony express!

Planning a relaxed day today and may even see the surface of my desk. I have the financial report done for Quilting Biddies tomorrow, all Mill bills are paid and I'm all organized on the diningroom table for the Garden Club Audit. I was supposed to do that today but my co-auditor has to go to a funeral. (When did funerals start happening on Sunday?)

I even have dinner planned - pork tenderloin and roasted Brussels sprouts. I never thought I'd be looking forward to B. sprouts!

Have a lovely Sunday and I hope you remembered the time change.
  • It's a cold and windy morning, but the rain is out of here. I'm all curled up under a quilt on my sofa with my coffee and laptop where I'm keeping all snuggly and warm. We still haven't turned on the heat, we're holding out until as long as we can.

I have to run out for a few groceries later, and my SIL, Sherrie, is picking me up at noon to go to her friend's 31 bag party. Jake is on his own for supper and I still have yummy leftovers of Kalyn's Kitchen Delicata Squash & Sausage Grautin. I subbed vegetarian Chorizo for the Italian sausage, and it's delicious.

What's on everyone's agenda for this day?
  • Good morning, Ruth! This "falling back" doesn't bother me as much as the "spring forward" does. At least I get an extra hour of sleep in the morning now, although I dread the shorter daylight hours. How nice of you to make chili for the Euchre game! Do you usually make something for them?
  • Linda, it's a fundraiser for the Fair Board and supplying "light" refreshments is supposed to be circulated among the members. Last time (two weeks ago) it was a loaf of sandwiches but suddenly the refreshments aren't "light"! However, it was a good excuse to use up odds and ends of ground meat that have been hanging out in the freezer. This is the last one until spring since we do not keep the Fair Hall heated for the winter.

The heat has been on around here for sure although I do turn it down a lot at night. The back room does get pretty cold but the propane "wood" stove keeps the doggage pretty cozy.
  • Morning! After a very dreary day yesterday (with a high of 34*) we may see the sun today, which would be really nice. Changing the clock isn't too hard for me, but I miss the light in the afternoon for sure. The reality is the days are just short right now.

Ruth, I have the same odd experience: I now love B sprouts. Of course, roasting the fresh one from my garden -and I still have some- is way more tasty than those boiled things my Mom made, with all apologies to my Mom.

    Cottage
, I'm off to the grocery store today as well. I spent yesterday cleaning and doing paperwork for school. I have to admit we have turned on the furnace and already used half a rack of wood.

DH has the coffee ready so I'm off to fill my cup. Have a great day!
  • Lost my extra hour by setting the clocks ahead too early. Oh well, I have coffee. The cats do not approve of the time change and let me know it.

it's very blustery and cold here but not white. I'm looking through my soup and stew recipe collection. A pot of something warm and spicy and maybe a cauliflower crust white pizza sound about right for this weather.

Cottage - Would that be good with other winter squashes? I have a stash now but no delicata.
