Default question....

Okay, you will all think I'm GROSS, but I was getting a Diet Mt. Dew from the machine at the nursing home yesterday, and noticed those "pork skins"? in the snack machine, and remembered a friend saying she could eat them on Atkins. I picked up a bag at hte gro. today, and copied the facts:
total fat-4g
sat. fat 1.5 g
cholesterol-7 mg
total carb-1 g
dietary fiber-less than 1 g
sugars-less than 1 g
protein-9 g

Are we allowed???? They're probably nasty, but they are looking more like a chip than anything I've seen lately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that in Phase 2 there are recipes using them, but I don't think they are allowed in Phase 1.

Well, I don't know about the "legality" of them, but when I was on Atkins I tried them, and didn't really like them. They were ok if they were covered with dip, but I guess I just couldn't get past the fact that I was eating deep fried pig skin. Now having said that, I know a lot of people really like them, so I guess it's all a matter of taste.

Just my 2 cents... be careful not to eat to many of those, they can make you retain like you wouldn't believe.
