Can you help??

  • I've been doing SBD for 3 days now, so far so good. Only had a headache, all day yesterday !! Not fun but knew it would be gone soon. I read somewhere about someone making the Ricotta Cheese dessert. I've got the recipes, but I've tried 2 different brands of Ricotta and both are gritty. Can you tell me what brand name is the smoothest? Or is there a way to smooth it out? Also I tried it with the SF jello and it tasted pretty good, except for the grittiness. Thanks for listening. This time I know it's going to work!!
  • I zap mine in my tiny food processor with an egg white. That seems to work for me. Where are you located? Brands are different in Canada and the USA.
  • I'm in New Mexico, I've tried the "off brand" from Wal-Mart and I can't remember the other one.

    I use Dragone...not sure where it is distributed, it ends up pretty smooth after I put it through my food processor. I also add equal parts of low fat cottage cheese, this helps a lot. Let it whirl for several minutes. (like 3 to 4)

    Walmart has a brand called Poly-O that I have heard is very smooth. I still haven't found it.

    Make sure you eat this chilled, makes a big difference.

  • If you really don't like the ricotta you can use cottage cheese. The fat-free is allowed (actually I use the low fat) and it's just lumpy, not gritty
  • I use part ricotta and part low fat cottage cheese and add alittle SF/FF instant pudding mix to it plus a tablespoon of water, and zap it in the food processor. I don't find a problem with it being gritty or lumpy. I use enough to make 4 servings at a time.
