Default Quick Question !

When you start South Beach, how many carbs are you allowed? And is there an induction phase (like Atkins)?

Hi Leens
Yes, there is a 2 week induction on SBD but you NEVER COUNT carbs. You just make sure that you eat from the allowed food list and for that phase. When you get to phase 2, you will begin to add in other low-glycemic index foods. You should not go into ketosis on this plan, that's not the goal. Also a big difference is that SBD focuses on lean meats, healthy fats (olive oil, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter) and low-fat foods, whereas Atkins promotes
high fat/very low carb. This is much healthier way to eat and much easier to stay on for a lifetime.

Leenie, 2BFit explains it very well. I was never comfortable with ketosis...felt funny, kinda sicky. Also, I like the low fat idea and so does R. He is very serious about losing weight and he likes that neither of us have to count anything. Also, I thought of you whe I read the recipes for the ricotta cheese desserts. They would satisfy your sweet tooth and still be good for you.

Thanks for the response girls, I was just curious as to what the difference were.

So far I am liking atkins and liking how I feel. But with any diet that can change tomorrow, but for now I'm very happy.

I wish you all much success.

Hugs !!
