Thumbs down Chicks on the Beach, Thursday, July 17th

Good Morning, Beach Chicks!

We've got cooler, less humid weather (I think I heard it was a Canadian front, Ruthie) and I'm much happier with the lower humidity. I kept to my plan of just having the wholegrain bread in the morning yesterday and also had FF yogurt and blueberries (separately. I havenn't added any alcohol since Monday when I had it for 'medicinal' purposes We're leaving for the Cape a week from Saturday - going to the land of blueberries and lobsters!

How are you ding? My scle hasn't made a hiccup but then I DID have those vodka gimlets on Monday and I'm sure they slowed my wl down.

We had a different instructor at the Pilates class yesterday and I could tell that my body is definetely changing for the beter - between the Pilates,, Yogqa and SBD - it's making a good change! What doesn't kill you makes yoou stronger, eh?

OK, Chicks, time to get going to the gym... I'll check in again later. Have a grrreat day on the Beach!

Hey, Anna! You mentioned blueberries twice today. You are killing me! I did indulge in raspberries yesterday - and I posted it in my food log. The scale is still not budging. I am hoping for one of those Whoosh Fairy experiences when a miracle happens overnight and I drop 3 pounds! Wish me luck!

The dogs and I have been for a walk already - we had to lock some Fair buildings - and it certainly is a gorgeous morning here. I still have not managed to get in the evening walk habit but am going to try to have an earlier dinner and work it in tonight.

A busy day is underway so I'll just wish everyone a lovely Day On The Beach and a bouquet of pink lilies - mine are out now!

Smile Good Morning Beach Babes!

Anna and Ruth, you are making my mouth water with all the talk about berries. I am half way through Phase 1 so berries are still a week away. Sure hope I'll be able to find some way down here....

Today is certain to bring challenges my way. My kids are begging me to make ice cream this afternoon on the back porch. Do you think one bite would hurt? I had one bite of whole wheat bread last night and a little nibble of key lime pie. I've been so good that I just couldn't resist.

On another topic, does anyone have cats? We are thinking of getting another pet (We miss our precious Peggy Sue so much) and though we might go with a cat this time. Problem is, we have never owned a cat in our lives and don't know much about them. Someone pm me if you can give me some info on taking care of a cat.....thanks!

OK, let's tackle another day and progress a little closer to our goal!

Tracey,

First, I think it's ok it you can contain yourself to just one bite. With me it's all or nothing so I just don't touch things like ice cream.

Second, I have a 7 year old cat. Cats are very independent and require little care. You'll need a litter box and it will need to changed every week. It takes about a week to train a kitten to use the litter box. Cats can tear up furniture if they decide to use it as a scratching post so you might want to buy a real scratching post or consider getting the cat declawed - my cat is not declawed though. You will need to have the cat "fixed" especially it is a male because it will pee on things to mark his territory it he is not fixed - my cat did this and I had him fixed and he never did it again. My cat is just a stray cat that I found when he was a kitten, but there are a lot of fancy breeds of course. I love my cat and he had been good with my 20 month old son which we worried about since the cat had never been around children before we had the baby.

Good morning, darlings!

I slept in again today. 7:30 !!!

Oh Anna... DON'T talk about alcohol! I was in LUSH last night with my sister and daughter, and they had a shampoo with beer in it. It smelled SO good. I convinced my sister to buy it. I was afraid I might drink it. (no, I'm NOT a lush, but it's summer, and I'd like the occasional drink on the verandah.)
Congratulations on the body change!!
I think I'm in need of a smaller pair of jeans. These have become quite lose. Maybe I should just wash them.

Ruth, it was supposed to rain all week but it's BEAUTIFUL out! Enjoy your day, sweetie!

Tracey, you have great self-restraint! I'm like you, Melody... it's all or nothing. Which could mean an entire carton of ice cream. Or an entire loaf of bread. With butter... sigh.

Have a wonderful day, all!

Good Morning everyone. Well, today is the end of my first two weeks! I lost 8 lbs. the first week and no more since then. I've been extremely faithful about sticking to the program though and I think I will go ahead and try Phase II for a couple days and see if the scale moves down. I can always go back to Phase I.

Tracey, some other advice about getting a cat. We had two 6 yr. olds, lost one of them suddenly recently due to a heart condition. The other one was lonely so we got a kitten from an animal rescue league. Our older cat loves her. Just make sure if you decide to get a kitten instead of a full grown cat that you are ready for how ACTIVE they are. She is just like a little kid who will run like a maniac around the house for no apparent reason (usually starting around 5:30 a.m.!) Then all of a sudden, she will just drop over and fall asleep. Recharging the battery
We are already dreading the inevitable Christmas tree fiasco. That said, we wouldn't trade her (or our other cat) for the world.

Hey peeps!
I have a quick question-in the gro. store, I couldn't find "boiled" ham-which is what the book okays-what in the world is a boiled ham? All I could find was smoked, honey baked (which I know is out), and some other kind. Anyway, can we have smoked? The one I ended up buying was a Hormel Black Label canned ham-it says on the ingredient label:

Cured with water, salt, dextrose, sodium phosphates, sodium nitrate. and the nutrition facts are total fat-4.5 Sat. fat-1.5 Total carb. 1g with sugar being 1 gram of htat. 100 calories for 3 oz.

Does that sound ok? I ate it for dinner-it was okay, more like a lunch meat type, and thought it would be good for breakfast tomorrow if it's allowable.

Default Deluxe Cooked Ham

Hi kim, I shop at Publix and buy Boar's Head Deluxe Cooked Ham.

I just started SBD today and made a lettuce sandwich with Ham, moz. ch., red pepper strips and it was delicious! I luv bread, but was pleasantly supprised.

I'm getting a warning about advertising, I hope this gets through!
the ham is great!!

Highest weight last July 230
Todays weight 191
Goal 140
