Thumbs down Chicks on the Beach, FRIDAY, July 18th

Good Morrrrrning, Gorgeous Beach Chicks!

Here we are at Friday and we're due for a glorious weekend here. I drank massive quantities of water yesterday and plan to do it again today. It sure 'flushes the fat' out.

I have Yoga today and my evil twin is nattering at me again - but I'm not giving in to her.

I've been doing P2 lightly - have onlyl added blueberries (you can have them real soon, Ruthie), whole grain bread and FF yogurt. Had a huge salad and some FF kosher franks last night but overdid it a wee bit on the salad dressing although it was low carb - I didn't measure it out and know I had too much.

I've been putting ground nuts in my ricotta/yogurt type snacks and need to measure the amounts of the nuts as well. I'll count the alloted amoount out and then grind them so I know what I'm dealing with.

That's about it for the mo - I'll check back in with y'all later.

Have an excellent day on the Beach, Chicks!

Good morning! I'm ready for the water, too! Of course this heat helps that along. I can't wait for Autumn.

I added yogurt this week, to go with my strawberries, and had my first smoothie yesterday in a month! I sure have missed those.

On the nuts! I have had a hard time resisting, so I thought I had a good idea by buying nut "chips" which are tiny bits of nuts. It was perfect to stir into my ricotta or oatmeal, and you can't munch on the things because they run through your fingers.. I was anxious to share this tip with my fellow nutters. Unfortunately, they also contain a fair amount of shell chips, and I had to throw them out.

I'm off to work in the yard before the heat starts to rise. Good luck everyone!

Goodmorning, Early Beachies!

It's coolish here this morning (50º F) and is just perfect for garden work. I function best in the 50º to 65º range. It's my Canadian blood.

I stuck right to plan again yesterday (except for water) but still don't see a move on the scale. I think it's Anna's blueberry talk that is stalling me! I think I will move to Phase II as next week as it will be a stressful week and I'll need little "treats" like a slice of toast and a few blueberries. There's a concession guy at the Fair who does the most incredible ribs. I'll need all my strength to resist that!

I'm off to start Lucy through her 3rd time at Obedience training! She is pretty good but I need the discipline. I also have been asked to assist at some of the classes in the fall so need to get better at the whole doggage discipline routine....not that Lucy is badly behaved!

Have a super Beach Day, Babes!

Good Morning Everyone!!! This is incredibly early for me and I see a few of you have ALREADY checked in!!!

Ruth-I'm with you, cooler weather is much more comfortable. Unfortunately it looks like it is going to rain here. (REAL bummer since my dryer is broken and I need to do major laundry. Not a good "solar dryer" day!!!)

Suzanne-Isn't it nice having the yogurt? I had some Tzadziki yesterday and it was wonderful!!!

Anna-How were the FF Kosher hotdogs? Do they taste good? I've been hving strawberries in my ricotta dessert, which is great too. Still can't master the nuts.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!!!!

Thumbs down It's a Beautiful Day to Head to the Beach!!!!!

Good morning!

Ooh, yesterday was not very good for me......I totally got off the program. The good side is that I didn't just completely binge out and overeat (as is typical for me). And I plan to jump right back on the horse today. Wish me luck getting back on track today .

Talking about Fall reminds me of all thoes cute Fall clothes I want to wear. I long for those mornings when you can feel a little nip in the air....

I wish you all a wonderful day! We can all make it if we do it holding hands .

Good morning all

Today is day 39 (but who's counting) and I feel like I've stalled. I only have 3 more days until I weigh-in and so far this week, the scale has not budged. I'm alittle frustrated but I'm not giving up.
The only things that I added in phase 2 were fruit (blueberries, cherries and strawberries) and multi-grain bread. One morning I did add some oatmeal to a recipe. I even stopped having the ricotta desserts this week hoping it would balance out these additions.
I do know that I need to exercise more and drink more water than I have been drinking. (some days are better than others). So, starting today I will work on this and pray that the scale will be down 1 pound when I step on it Monday morning.

Hope you all have a sunshine-filled day at the beach

Question water and other liquids

Hello chicks!

I have a question for you experts - will drinks like propel and decaf-splenda sweetened tea mess me up? I'm working hard at the water, but find that at least half the time I crave something that has flavor to it (read: sweetness!).

It's another hot and muggy one here in Florida - I'm not sure we acutally have Autumn - remind me to check when the time comes.

Off to swimming lessons with the kid!

Welcome Di You have a great attitudeand I think that it is very smart of you to start weening off before you start. Good idea. Have a great weekend and see you on the beach Monday morning.

Morning everyone!
Started Phase 2 yesterday. No scale movement at all for the last 8 days or so, and today I was down 1.5. All I added yesterday was a slice of whole-grain bread and a couple of blueberries.
Hope the trend continues!
Anna, you should try putting ground flaxseeds on your riccota or cottage cheese. Really healthy for the ol' cholesterol and it gives it a good nutty taste. Plus, there's no way to go overboard on it like nuts..can't really eat it by the handful. I can't even keep pecans or anything in the house. I'll eat them all!

Way to go, Sandi~That's a great example of not giving up and staying on plan (OP).I needed to hear that. I also like your idea of flaxseeds instead of nuts for that nutty taste. I sprinkle them on almost everything but never thought of putting them on my ricotta. I'll have to try that next time.

Thanks for the tip SandiLu! Where do you buy flax seeds? I haven't seen them around my market - even in the organic sectiion. Sounds like a good plan though - I hadn't thought to add seeds to the FF yogurt.

I've been drinking loads of water and snuck a peek at the scale after getting home from yoga and I'm down a pound! yippers!

Sil: I think you'll see a difference on the scale if you hit the water bottle as well!

Den: The kosher franks are grrreat grilled - i use the GF and have them with Dijon Honey mustard and they are delish, low carbs too!

good morning beach bunnies!!! Everyone is looking good!! I will do better today....I have my food written down on a note pad with the time I am allowed to eat it. I will try this approach and see if I can't teach myself something.
I didn't actually go off plan yesterday...I just ate to much like I always do. maybe this will work for me...I have always been a list maker. I usually follow my list to the letter...I am compulsive about that. So...I decided if it works with my daily routine...It should work with what I eat. I will try anything!!!

I get the flax seeds in the organic section of my local Kroger. They are Bob's Red Mill brand, they come in a bright yellow bag. Since they are already ground you have to keep them in the fridge or they will go rancid but I've been working on the same bag for quite a while and they are still good.
