can anyone tell me if coconut flour is allowed on the south beach diet
thank you
I've been searching the web, and can't find anything official. According to the live strong website, it says that it's suitable for low carb/low GI diets. I'm guessing it would fall under the phase 2 area, but am not positive. I just used it to make my daughter a wheat free birthday cake (combined with Almond Flour) that was excellent. It's better for you than white flour - at least we know that much!!
hi catmat i have just received my copy of the parties and holiday cookbook
(i had all of the books when i did sb last time but lent them all to a friend and they were never returned so having to buy new) anyway in there , there are 2 recipes using shredded coconut and as the flour is just the same thing ground i think it is okay, as long as you don't use too much like the would use ground almonds. i have a book of cupcake recipes that use coconut or almond flour and agave syrup so i think would be sb ok, you only use 1/2 cup to make 9 cupcakes so there would not be a lot in each cake
