I Ran!!!!

  • I ran so far awaaaaay....

Or maybe only a mile and walked another .21 miles after... But I ran!!!

Ok, that is all. Just had to share. It felt really good

  • Uh-oh, it's the beginning of an addiction!! Watch out!
  • YEAH!!!!!! A mile is a great start! I make it 1 minute before I think my lungs are going to explode!
  • good job!
  • Good for you!
  • That's good! Congrats!
  • Going slow and steady to start, probably the smartest thing to do for my body anyway, but definitely for Chris. Even though he has 0 body fat and is lean and trim, he is in worse physical shape than I am. He didn't have any endurance. We ended up running a 15 minute mile. I was like because years ago I used to run 6 mph, not 4! I know it's going to take me awhile to get back into it, but I'm pretty sure that if I had gone solo, it would have been between 12-13 min mile. I just have no idea where to keep my pace at anymore, how to find my breath, etc.

We're going to shoot for tomorrow after work too, which will be far more difficult because it's a high of 32 during the day. First cold run, but I think we'll be ok. Yesterday it was 60 when we ran in the evening, but I was comfortable in compression pants, a cotton ribbed tank, and a compression jacket. I will just have to layer tomorrow! Man I need better gloves....

Anyway, thanks for the kudos girls! I really enjoyed it, despite my hips and butt hurting when we ran uphill and my right knee hurting when we ran downhill. Par for the course, I think. Part of getting old(er....)
  • How do you know how far you have ran? I am planning to do my first run (ever) on Friday. I know the method I am going to use but I have no markers or idea of how far I will have run.
  • Good job!
  • congratulations! I think that is a huge accomplishment. I know for sure I couldn't just go out and run a mile right now; I have to work up to it again.

I (used to) measure my runs by driving the route and checking the odometer, assuming there are roads. Then mapmyrun came out and boy is that fun to play around with routes! (go to "Routes" then "Map a Run" ...) You don't have to log in, by the way, to use it - they will just show you ads if you don't. Actually, I have "AdBlockerPlus" installed so all I see is a blank space where the ads are supposed to be
  • Go, Weez, Go!!! All sorts o' crazy things are happening in the capital city. I'm doing the Lose Big competition at the Y and last night they has me doing push-ups (sort of)! I KNOW!!!
  • Fantastic!
  • Good Job. Yeah!
  • Congrats! Sounds like a great start!
  • FRENCHIE!!!! You go girl! I can't do pushups, even sort of! You are awesome! Miss you girl!!!

LW, I downloaded the free Runkeeper and iMapMyRun apps on my iPhone. They are GPS based and track calories burned, routes, distance, time, and pace. Ahhh technology!
