Default Hello, Newbie Here!!

Hi everyone! I am a 30 yr old married mother of two!! After recent having medical problem after medical problem I am determined to be healthy and live life!!! I need to lose at least 50 pounds to be in the "ideal" weight. I start the SBD on Monday, along with my hubby! I am really nervous, as I am a picky eater. I don 't generally eat most veggies and I love pasta! I am determined though so I know I will succeed!!! I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you!!!! If anyone has any tips I am more than happy to hear them!!!

, Diane! We're happy to have you joining us here on The Beach and look forward to gettting to know you.

As for helpful hints and suggestions - first of all I strongly urge you to get the book and read it thoroughly. We have a lot of information here on our forum and are always ready to answer any questions, but it's important to read the book first to understand the fundamentals of this plan and the "Whys and Hows".
Initially, you will spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing veggies and other things from scratch, but as time goes on it will become routine and you'll learn some shortcuts.
It is essential to eat at least 4 1/2 cups of vegetables every day, and including legumes and dairy in your daily meals will help you feel full and satisfied. A great way to enjoy your veggies is to roast them, many people who aren't veggie lovers have learned to prefer them this way.

Another good idea is to plan out your first week's meals, then go for a shop to make sure you have everything on hand. It doesn't hurt to purge your kitchen from Food Porn and anything that may tempt you to stray, if at all possible.

Good luck, and post often!

Thanks for the welcome! I have read SBD Supercharged. There is tons of info on this site!! I'm trying to plan out the next 2 weeks of meals before I go shopping. It's a little tricky but I need to try new things.

Diane!

I just wanted to let you know how great I feel when I follow SBD guidelines, especially getting all my vegetables in. Lots of us love pastas and breads, etc, but I would rather be thinner than eat exactly what I want. I really believe that your tastebuds will change, too.

Best wishes!

I was going to say that same thing about roasting veggies! I was just talking at the gym today about how I have to make a conscious effort to eat them and I'd otherwise never have any! I'm a big fan of all grainy carbs but feel better and crave less now that I mostly don't eat them. Honestly, I don't even miss pasta anymore. And last night everyone else had white rice (my boys won't eat brown) with dinner while I ate cauliflower "rice" instead.
