I've been trying to lose weight since the beginning of the year. I've been doing my own made up thing, it's kind of a combination of counting calories and an exchange plan. I haven't been religious about it which explains why I haven't lost as much as I could but I'm happy because I've taken things in baby steps and I've created healthy habits as a result.
I recently found out that I'm insulin resistant so for the last couple weeks I've tried to cut simple carbs and add complex carbs. I was chatting with someone about it and she mentioned that based on how I've been eating it seemed to be similar to SB and recommended I pick up a copy.
I bought the book yesterday and began to read it last night. I think this is something that's doable for me, since I've already been eating sort of this way anyway.
This morning I thought I'd at least start, I began my day with the south beach muffin recipe that I got on this site, I added 1/2 serving of grated carrots to it without looking at the food list first (oops). I just assumed carrots would be on the 1st phase but I was wrong. Of course I realized this after I had already eaten the muffin. Oh well, I will know better next time. But just so you know, it did have that Carrot cake vibe to it.
