Default SBD Chat - Friday, August 12

Good early morning and TGIF! It's supposed to be a gorgeous day today but there is just a hint of fall in the air out there this morning. Forecast is "Plentiful sunshine. High around 80F." I intend to be out there shortly and pull weeds for an hour before I leap into my busy day.

I can't believe how busy I was this week! I fully intended to get some "leg up" rest on the porch with a book and some Crystal Light but it didn't happen often enough. Starting tomorrow afternoon, I'll be a four dog Mom as the Pypers will be leaving their two with me while they are at the cottage. (This rental "cottage" has suede leather furniture and soft pine floors so no dogs are allowed.) Bailey is one of my puppies (Lucy's littermate) and Casey is a very mellow hound so there should be no problems. "Just stay off my chair!" says Disney. I plan to stay home most of the time so the week should be more restful.

Sunday our wee Church celebrates its 200th anniversary. I have flowers planned and Claire and I will be doing a fancy sandwich-making marathon tomorrow morning. The new Bishop is coming to help us celebrate and we should have quite a crowd as the other two congregations will join us. Yes, the dogs will be out in full force although I am taking just one, Jazz who is the best behaved. Disney barks during hymns, Bailey howls and Casey isn't Anglican!

The sun is coming up so it's time for a Green monster and then into garden clothes.

TGIF, Chickies!

Sounds like a pretty eventful weekend, Ruth, and a fun week ahead with 4 pups.

Jake took the day off and we're heading out to the Amish country for breakfast before spending the morning at The Green Dragon. http://www.greendragonmarket.com/ I'm hoping to get some good buys on peaches and cantalopes for freezing for my smoothies, and it's fun just to walk around and browse.

I can feel a definite change in the air, as I went outside with my coffee to watch the sun come up, but the chill sent me back indoors. The girls will be getting back from camp this afternoon, and in 2 more weeks school will start. Summer is too short!

Ah TGIF indeed I've got a lot to do but it's my stuff. It's the time of year for getting the pantry filled with dried veggies and the freezer filled with fruit. It will be busy but fun.

Ruth - Happy doggie day care week So is it just certain breeds that are Anglican? The things I don't know....

I've got an early start today. I'm meeting a friend for coffee before an 8:45 appt. I will order the nonfat latte and resist all the ridiculous baked goods. In the meantime I've got a list or two to make and then I should get myself together as much as that's going to happen. Happy almost weekend or weekend everyone!

ETA - Cottage that market looks like fun! I noticed the cool here too along with the morning dark. I'm sad to see the days getting so noticeably shorter but do love the cooler temps.

Good morning! Loving this crisp morning air...I actually need a blankie to keep my feet warm!!

Ruth - sounds like you're going to have an interesting house!

Cottage - ohhh, I'm going to be right near Ephrata this afternoon (heading towards Reading), I might have to stop by. Thanks for the tip!!

Cyndi - what, no countdown today?!

Yeesh, what a GORGEOUS morning!! I have work from 9-2 today, then grab the kiddos and go to Reading. DH has a conference there, so we decided I'd drive out and meet him (instead of him driving home, then finding somewhere else to go) to have a getaway/celebrate the house sold weekend. There is an oyster festival there tomorrow (he LOVES oysters and beer) that we may try to go to. We'll just see how the weekend goes!

Have a great day!

Twynn, congrats on the house sale. You deserve a celebration this weekend and oysters would certainly do it for me. Champagne instead of beer though.

Cottage, I wish I could tag along with you and Jake this morning. I have my annual August urge to "put foods by", probably from my pioneer ancestors. I will make salsa with my lovely tomatoes next week.

Interesting question, Cyndi. I'll ask the Bishop on Sunday. I plan to take Jazz who is Russian and therefore probably not Anglican. I may need to rethink this.

Happy Friday to all. I'm getting silly so I'm outta here!

Good morning!

Ruth - Some day I want to try a green monster. Or so I keep telling myself.

Linda - I love when that change in the air starts. Yep, this summer flew by.

Cyndi - Enjoy your coffee and visit.

Twynn - Congrats on the house selling. Have fun celebrating.

I'm off the the gym with my mom later. Then we are going out for lunch, the four of us, to have a last hurrah to send of the teen. He didn't want to give up an evening with friends so that we could do dinner. I think it will be hard on him that so many of his friends will be together at state schools while he is off alone halfway across the country. I asked him how he's feeling and he says he ready, admitting no nerves. I'm not so sure. Haven't seen my older son yet; his flight got in hours after I was asleep. But he made it home safely.

Good Evening!

I thought I had checked in...think I got distracted before entering. Lots of fun distractions here but I'm doing great with food! Not totally "OP" as far as SBD goes, but staying "sane" with food one day at a time! Hopefully I'll get here earlier tomorrow.

Lost another pound. Scared I won't make my goal but slow and steady, right? Happy Friday.
