I am new to this site and the SB diet. I must tell you I am 24 weeks pregnant and my doctor advised me to start the south beach diet phase 2, cause I was eating too much sugar
I read the book and I understood phase two perfectly. Of course I can't eat anything starchy, cause I am allergic, but I started eating 3 servings of fruit daily. I am doing great, although I get lots of cravings for sugar.
I would like to ask the following:
is it okay to eat fat free greek yogurt with sunflower seeds for breakfast?
can I eat cheese at lunch and at dinner together with my other proteins?
does the fact that I can't eat starch affect the diet negatively ?
my husband is starting from phase1, can he eat dairy?
Thank you in advance for your answers

, Zenia! And congratulations on your pregnancy.
Most of your questions have already been addressed, but let me add that your doctor is correct in advising that you skip the Phase 1 part of this plan and go straight to Phase 2. It's fine to exclude grains, but you must make sure you are getting enough nutrients and vitamins in your diet. Are you able to substitute gluten-free products? There are several good brands available, if you are.
