I am determined that this will work for me. I got the book from the bookstore yesterday and was a little disappointed that only a small part at the beginning is actually about the diet. The book is mostly recipes which I can get here! I a wondering if I got the wrong book?
I had decided a month ago that I wanted to try the Ideal Protein Diet, Our school secretary has lost 65 lbs since October. It just seems so easy to not have to think about food. BUT, I saw my dr and she said it was not for me. She recomended the SBD and while the food choices are so much better and in the long run it is better to learn how to eat properly, I just don't want to spend time in the kitchen.
I am desperate to lose this weight. I weighted 260 at the dr. office last week. It is the most I have weighed since I was nine months pregnant with my last child, fifteen years ago. I feel the weight and it depresses me.
I will be 55 on March 11 and I am determined to stick with this. I am reading these forums and think that with this much information it will make it easier.
You can do it. You will be surprised at how often you refer back to that little portion of the book. Check out the daily thread and also the on plan thread for great meal suggestions. SBD is an amazingly healthy, delicious way to eat.
The book I got was The SouthBeach Diet. It is blue on the front. It is the original book . I am going to take it back tonight and trade in for the newer version. I have been having fun looking at all the recipes. Have made a list and am going shopping tonight. I thought I was doomed to chicken breasts and raw vegetables!
I honestly didn't like the recipes listed in the book. The book was helpful to understand the principles of SB and how it works, but I actually got a lot more out of the forum and its recipes than anything.

The first part of the book is so small because the diet is so simple! It's a set of guidelines rather than a day by day diet. And I think that makes it easy to follow.
