In phase one definitely not. After that, well if it's plain, no sugary mixers and you have willpower.
I drank straight tequila with a lime and did fine, but I have to make sure to eat protein with my drink or I would crave carbs.
My understanding was that 1 - 2 glasses or red or white wine OR 1 light beer on occasion was fine but hard liquor is frowned upon b/c of the amount of sugar in it. Personally if I was on a cruise I'd just imbibe and work on getting rid of it all when I came back, LOL
I've done a little research in this dept. I to like a cocktail now and again. Here's the best I've found. Try 3 vodka. It's made from soy beans. It has no sugars and is carb and gluten free. I drink it with water and a lemon!!!
It doesn't really matter if you drink soy vodka or regular vodka like Smirnoff (without the flavorings) - they are both carb-free and sugar-free simply by the nature of them being alcohol. However, a gram of alcohol does have twice the calories of a gram of carb or protein, and your body processes the alcohol before it gets to the food. Here's a good link that summarizes everything: http://www.wellnessletter.com/html/w...tured0804.html.
OK, it boils down to this - the use of hard liquor is discouraged on the SBD. But we are all human, and there will be occasions where we may want to have a drink or two. But it should be considered a cheat, and we should indulge rarely, and get right back on plan again.
That makes sense to me! I am glad that there is some allowance for wine when you want a drink. That gets me through most situations where I want a drink
Wow, I think I'm making it sound like I drink a lot lol.

Girl, don't worry about THAT. I used to keep up w/ the boys (and by "boys" I'm talking guys who binge drink frequently and could quite possibly be called alcoholics, LOL) and now I'm becoming a lightweight, for sure!!! LOL
Oh, no claws here - I'm just saying that metabolically, your body sees grain vodka and soy vodka almost identically. If drinking one over the other makes you feel better, then definitely go for it!
I like a vodka and diet tonic myself... wish there was a way to make margaritas low sugar!
