Touching base is one of our standard phrases around the office for checking in. I was going for the alliteration but realized how accurate it is for me to refer to my morning check-ins here as touching base. This is the place I come to when I need to recharge my batteries and jump start my day. So good morning Chicks Pull up a chair and grab a cup of something warm and possibly caffeinated and say hello before the day takes over.
Ruth - I sure hope you are sleeping in this morning!
I'm a little sluggish this morning so plenty of coffee. I'm actually fighting a cold. Hope I can get it out of my system before heading to my parents. My Dad doesn't need the germs.
Should be a pretty average staff meeting Tuesday for me. Just trying to get a lot of loose ends tied up so I can come back next week to a clean desk (without a bonfire )
Good morning, Im still at work for an hour and then heading home to take baby girl to mothers morning out..Ill stay awake and nap with her later. Day 10 of Phase 1 and so far so good, 10 pounds down.. Im getting used to this diet but I can not wait for a sweet potato which is funny since I havent had one in over a year!
I'm here and fueling up with caffeine to get my day started.
Cyndi, I always think of my check-ins here as touching base to keep me on track. Just knowing we're all doing this together really keeps me going.
Good luck keeping that cold at bay, and you'd better scare up some EmergenC, too, so you'll be germ free for your weekend with your parents.
Yesterday was a good day, and the munchies I've been plagued with have finally subsided. Today should be pretty uneventful, and nice enough to be able to sit outside to eat my lunch.
Hi there, Fluffymamma! Enjoy your mother's morning out, and I hope you're able to catch a nice long nap later.

Yes, touching base is totally appropriate. Fluffymama, 10 lbs. is totally great! Hey Cyndi and Cottage...
I was on plan yesterday. I snacked a little outside of what I posted but only on low fat protein options (chicken, lf cheese, a pickle). I can do even better today, I've got my food all planned and ready to go.
We are still waiting for the "big announcement" at work which will clarify the rumors that have been circulating since last week. Supposedly, it will come today. It's been very difficult for anyone to concentrate and luckily I am not busy so am not getting behind. I did some more work on my photos last night. This is taking longer than I thought it would! My goal is to complete it by the end of the week. Have a great day everyone!
Good morning. Woke at 2 and drifted in and out until morning. I hate that! Like CyndiM, I am getting a cold so am going to try to head it off with zinc lozenges, herb tea and Vitamin C. Rest would help but sleep is pretty elusive lately.
Book Club tonight and I'm having two friends for dinner before that. Since the book is about a Greek family, I'm doing moussaka and a cucumber salad. I have lean ground lamb and some eggplant which I'll bake rather than fry to keep the fat down. Wish me luck!
Good Food Box happens this morning and Paul will be here to change my doors. None of my doors lock properly and are also pretty drafty in winter so.... It should be interesting keeping two dogs inside a doorless house although I'm sure I can convince him to do it in stages.
Cyndi, it definitely IS checking in and I wouldn't miss it.
Cottage, I'll be thinking of you lunching outside. I think it's still to cold here.
Fluffymama, congratulations on the ten pounds and also on adopting your wee daughter.
Mmck, it must be very stressful at work waiting for the big announcement. I've been there and it's not fun.
Cyndi, Can you have a bonfire without marshmallows?
Fluffy, Congrats on 10 pounds! WooHoo!!!
Cottage, Peanut butter usually helps with my munchies. I'm glad yours have quit.
Mmc, I hope you get good news today.
Ruth, Moussaka is one of my favorite Greek treats. Will you share your recipe?
Me: I went back to Jazzercise last night. It felt so good! This morning, I'm a bit sore and will probably be even more sore by this afternoon, but I will not let it stop me! It's such an adrenalin rush! Yay!
I've been up both mornings this week before 5:00 a.m. My brain is still living in the Eastern Time Zone after our trip to Disney. It needs to move west!
Cyndi - I love the name! Even before I got to your explanation I'm fighting one too. Seems to be going around.
Fluffymamma - Great job! It always amazes me how great some foods taste, like sweet potatoes, when I am on plan. Foods I would never want if I was eating junk too.
Linda - I have been downing Airborn and Zicam... but will have to check out EmergenC. Lunch outside sounds lovely.
Mmc - Left a rambling message on your thread. Hang in there!
Ruth - Me too! What is Good Food Box?
Chelby - I cannot wait to get back to my exercise classes!!
My plan today is to lay out everything for my trip. Packing stresses me out so I hate to wait until the last day if I can help it. And I always discover I need something I don't have. My husband gets equally or more stressed and probably won't start packing until tomorrow so this way I can maybe avoid sharing his stress too. I think today I will probably finally tell him our destination.
Cyndi, thanks for getting us started this morning. I think that touching base here has been the single most important decision I have made this time around. It does jump start my day and keeps my mind focused on the importance of staying OP. I have found I need to touch base very first thing and I get up early to make sure I have time to stop in before heading out. Thanks for always being here and I hope you have a stressless day. Take care of your cold, too!
Fluffymama, good morning and good job on P1. Funny, I reminisced and I haven't had a regular potato for almost a year now. Have fun at mothers morning out.
Linda, an uneventful day sounds perfect!
Mmc, great job on planning ahead. It helps me alot. It seems work must be very tense....tell yourself you have a plan today and stick with it! It helps me to remember that when I'm in an emotionally charged situation.
Ruth, sorry to hear you had interrupted sleep... with your Greek dinner...sounds fun!
Chelby, Yay! for Jazzercise! I think one of the most important things is exercise you like. It takes some planning ahead at times, but I make sure it always fits in.
Me, slept in a bit, now it's time to get organized. The pool is closed for 2 day maintenance so I'll either go to the club and ride the stationary bike or take my bike in on the car and ride around town. I'm meeting my friend at 915 for a quick Costco trip then back to my monthly dog therapy meeting. Dinner is planned, so not much to think about there.
Karen, how fun finally telling DH where he's going. Hope your stress stays low!
Have a great OP day everyone! Off to do my Beck homework!
I like the title of today's thread too, this daily check in has become such an important part of my day!
Cyndi - I hope you can ward off that cold! I swear by Zicam Quick Melts. Good luck with all the loose ends today.
Fluffymamma Woohoo! 10 lbs down! Enjoy your morning out with your daughter!
Linda, lunch outside sounds great! I've got a question for you though.... you didn't send your need for munchies my way by any chance, did you?
I practically chewed my arm of yesterday to keep myself from munching. I wasn't hungry - just stressed - but old habits die hard.
Hi Mmck, nice job staying OP yesterday! And awesome attitude: "I can do even better today".
Oh Ruth, another really busy day for you! Take care of yourself. You know, you could always take the dogs into your bedroom for a nap and some snuggles to keep them out of the way while Paul is changing your doors. You could use it and I've got a feeling they'd love it!
Things are quiet here this morning. I'm the only one up - I stayed in bed as long as I could stand it because I didn't want to wake anyone. I finally HAD to sneak downstairs to use the bathroom. lol
Good morning "Early bird Chelby" - do you go to bed on EST too? When I visited Oregon I drove myself crazy waking up way too early and just when I adjusted it was time to go back to Maine - where I drove my DH crazy by wanting to serve meals on Oregon time.
Karen, Happy Packing! I enjoy packing for a trip - it's unpacking and cleaning/putting away everything when I get home that bums me out.
Debbie, enjoy your biking today.
Have a great Tuesday friends!

Hello everyone! Today is a WONDERFUL day. I finished my design project at 10 last night. I was speaking to a friend today and she asked me how long I had been working on it, so I told her the intervals of time and we figured that I worked about 20 hours on this monster! Attached are two of my favorites from my first design theme- Norse. All in all I did 12 designs, 6 for each theme.
Started tracking calories this week because I was curious where I have been landing and its really great to keep me accountable and its very easy with my iTouch.
Going to head out to give a tour and then handing in my project! Hurray!
RuthXXX, what book did you read?
Kate, I hope its a most wonderful day!
KQ, I will be praying!
Pearl, thats awesome
Husband made some chicken salad yesterday so I have been snacking on that and hoping for something new tonight!!!
Just picked up sweet girl and we are going to the night night land!
