NSVs we love

Someone, maybe Weebles?, started listing NSVs when the tickers were missing. I love this idea, even more now that the scale is creeping so slowly that I can barely see it move. Here's a chance to brag about NSVs in the past and those you are looking forward to.

some of my favorites:
  • collar bones!
  • muscles where there weren't any visible before
  • walking by a window and suddenly realizing that much smaller person is me
  • sliding easily into the booth at the diner

I had a great NSV the other day when my DIL was going through a tub of her too small clothes she was storing in our basement, and pulled out a pair of brand new black wool slacks she had never worn because she was waiting to lose enough weight to get into them. She said I could have them, but they'd probably be too small for me, too. I tried them on, and they fit perfectly! :D

On Sunday, I wore a purple pantsuit to Church. I bought it two years ago and it was just too snug. On Sunday it fit perfectly.

litar 03-09-2010 08:30 AM

Just got back into a favorite pair of pants yesterday!!!!

momofev 03-09-2010 10:05 AM

My rings can come off my finger now! :)

jenne1017 03-09-2010 10:18 AM

:cheer: for all of you! YAY.

I don't want my pants to be too short anymore because my fat belly is taking up all the fabric.

bbygrl1117 03-09-2010 11:27 AM

Had to tighten my belt one more notch yesterday morning!

TallGirl 03-09-2010 02:01 PM

My cheekbones are back!

No overhang around the waistband of my pants.

Not a physical observation but I'm just not tired during the day and I'm falling asleep more easily.

KO 03-09-2010 04:57 PM

Jen I want that too!!!

Schmoodle 03-09-2010 07:41 PM

No chub rub
Knowing that the seatbelt on the airplane is going to have a nice long tail.
Being able to tie my shoes without major contortions.

I'll think of some more. I need to remember these things.

Heidi58 03-09-2010 07:51 PM

I had to have a link taken out of my watchband. :)

murphmitch 03-09-2010 08:14 PM

Being able to run a little bit on my treadmill routine. :woops:

Lexxiss 03-09-2010 08:21 PM

Going downhill skiing again after 30 years, and being in pretty darn good shape!

jenne1017 03-10-2010 12:49 AM

I want to go skiing someday too Debbie!

Isn't that the greatest compliment of all! Just this past weekend, I noticed Jake was watching me walk across the room, and he commented, "Hon, your butt looks great in those jeans!". :D

I had 2 this week... one is G rated NSV and the other an R rated one....

I wore my jeans the other day and they fit me much better... they were a lot more comfortable and didn't cut into my waist like they did 11.5 pounds ago...

My husband and I have lost about 27 pounds between us... and lets just say that we found the other night that we could really tell that there were 27 less pounds between us... :o :D

Gumby007 03-12-2010 04:35 PM

hahah I was thrilled the other day when I took my measurements. I have hit a plat. actually hit keep loosing the same pound over and over no matter what I do,..

So it was huge to see that I have lost 3.5 inches on my waist 4 inches on my hips and 2 inches on my chest since I started in November!

WaistingTime 03-12-2010 07:23 PM

I was packing for my upcoming vacation and my fat jeans are just too big to wear in public! And I tried on a pair of pants I wore on my December trip to DC and they were way too large. Now I just need to convince myself to get rid of them! (And I need to lose a bit more to get into any of my other jeans. I think it is that darn spreading middle-aged belly.)

CyndiM 03-12-2010 07:52 PM

Karen- Get rid of them!! Congratulations :)

Michelle1210 03-12-2010 07:57 PM

My NSV is: I needed to hook my bra on the 3rd set of hooks to make my bra the smallest size it has., and just a few months ago I was almost tempted to buy bra extensions.

sarahyu 03-13-2010 01:52 PM

I threw away a tub of opened frosting. 1/2 full. I pulled it out of the fridge today as I was putting the groceries up and for a second thought, oh, that would be good on peanut butter sandwich. But no, I finally had some will power and just threw it away because I didn't need it anyway.

:carrot: me!

A coworker is selling some leather skirts she got at a deep discount...She didn't have my normal size but one size lower. I said I would try it today. The lower size fit..in a pencil-style leather skirt (aka no give)! YAY! :cp:

jennyplain 03-15-2010 06:48 PM

I tried on an old pair of jeans today and they fit! It's Lane Bryant sizing so I don't know what it means in terms of real world stuff, but who cares!

JerseyGirrl 03-15-2010 11:04 PM

My friend's 4 year old daughter said to me today "Melissa I think you left your face in the dryer too long cuz it shrunk!" and I cracked up laughing and said "No Brianna, I am just eating healthier so I am losing the squishy in my face." She turned to her mom and said "Mommy, you need to start eating over Melissa's house." I was so relieved that she was cracking up laughing too because I couldn't stop. LOL

I really need a "yay Jenn" so I thought I'd share:

For the last 2 weeks at least, I have walked up and down EVERY escalator I've encountered.

I take the stairs in the am, versus the elevator or escalator, to get down to the metro (about 25 steps), then I take the long escalator down (50 steps) and walk it the entire way to the platform. After I get off the train, I walk UP the short escalator to the turnstiles (about 15 steps) and then walk up the escalator to the street (about 35 steps).

I do this in the am, when I am at my crankiest and at night going home, only reversed.

I have never been able to keep up with Metro walkers before (we here in DC stand to the right and walk on the left in the Metro [subway] system) so I always stood. Not any more!

I've even kept up with all the army brats running up and down.

I am just proud that no matter how crappy I feel, I've been making sure that this becomes routine to me. I want to no longer think about it, Just Do It! :)

LaLaurie 03-18-2010 10:13 AM

Whoo hoo! Yay Jenn! That has GOT to feel good!

cottagebythesea 03-18-2010 10:30 AM

:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: Jenne! :bravo:

TallGirl 03-18-2010 07:59 PM

Yay Jenn, that's great!!

I had another NSV this week: 1. the giant pants I've been wearing for the past year are finally so enormous they look ridiculous so I had to buy a few pairs of pants. and 2. I got back into a few of my pre-pregnancy skirts :D!! I loved my pre-pregnancy wardrobe so I'm so excited that something from it fits!

These NSVs are all so inspiring to me, keep them coming folks!

tammies00 03-18-2010 08:40 PM

I wore a shirt yesterday that used to be "tight"fitting shirt. Yesterday there was breathing room. It felt good to wear it. I think I could have wore it without my "Hold everything in" spandex!!!

My cute college age daughter is mad because my thighs don't touch. She said I am the only person that has baggy under armour.Love it, love it,

jenne1017 03-19-2010 09:38 AM

:broc: for all of us!!! :)

tomandkara 03-19-2010 04:20 PM

Today I made two coffee cakes, a carrot cake, and a chocolate chip cake and I didn't taste any of the batter! I didn't even want to. Well, that's a lie. I wanted to, but I was able to talk myself out of it.

jenne1017 03-19-2010 06:03 PM

Kara - your strength knows NO bounds!
:broc:

Now I want cake ;)

Here's a picture of one of two big escalators I climb every day :) I looked like such a tourist today taking a picture of it!

Now, I get winded but I don't let that stop me ;)

tomandkara 03-20-2010 02:37 AM

I think sometimes we have to look like tourists where we live, just for fun! You go, Jenn!!!

Heidi58 03-20-2010 06:41 AM

Wow, that's a pretty steep one Jenn! Good for you! :carrot:

My college ring fits again. :)

Lexxiss 03-20-2010 11:27 AM

I was happy packing my clothes this morning for our trip! These were the same clothes I pulled out last Spring that didn't fit. Now they're baggy! This year I WILL take some pictures!

Heidi58 03-20-2010 11:43 AM
