I have been buying Fiber One (the original kind) for my morning cereal. I swear I remember reading in my old book that that was an approved cereal. I just bought 3 more boxes because it was half price. Of course now I thought to check the label, and while it more than meets the fiber, carb and sugar requirements, the FIRST ingredient is "corn bran". Does anyone else use Fiber One and is it ok for SB? I can't believe I didn't think to check before!!!
Thanks!
K
PS- I'm sorry if this question belongs in a certain thread...I didn't know where to put it. Feel free to move it if there's a place for it.
That's what I thought. I knew I remembered it being on the Phase 2 allowed list. Not sure if they've changed the formula or what but here is a link to the nutrition info. (I hope that's allowed...if not, I'm sorry!)
Just saw this for you chicks up north.... you can get free Kashi cereal. I did not read the nutritional info so you'd want to check that out to see if it fits your phase.
The original Fiber One is approved for Phase 2, and to tell you the truth, I don't know why. It may be that the fiber outweighs the effect of the corn bran and sugars? I know I eat it, and it hasn't caused any problems for me.
Kashi Go Lean and Kashi Good Friends are also approved on Phase 2, but be sure not to eat the Go Lean Crunch.
Thanks! I will continue to eat it since I have so many boxes and I really enjoy it, even if it doesn't look too appetizing.
Will also check out the Kashi next time.
I think it is also ok to look outside 'the box' in terms of approved cereals etc. They are always changing the make ups and ingredients and sugar can sneak in as can other undesireable ingredients. Just because a SB book published 2 years ago say something is ok doesn't mean that it will be today. If there are obvious ingredients you don't want in your body there, then stay away.
