  • After a rather dissapointing weekend im looking forward to a good strict week of phase 1!! This is my menu for tomo:
    Breakfast: Natural yog amd sweetner
    Snack: Cherry toms
    Lunch: pot of houmous with cucumber and celery
    Snack: x2 babybel lights
    Tea: Mediterenean cod nd veggies
    x2 cups of tea throughout the day

    How does this sound?
    Normally i would have some ham or something in there too but thought of meat is making me feel sick for some reason, had too much of it!!
  • Hummus and veggies is not enough lunch. You need more protein. Yogurt alone at breakfast would not hold me over long. Add some veggies. Nuts, another dairy serving, beans? Doesn't look like enough food to me.
  • I agree with Anne, hummus and veggies would never be enough for me. Can you add an egg to your breakfast? I find that having eggs for breakfast is the perfect filler upper for me and I'm good until lunch.
  • My go-to breakfast is scrambled eggs with salsa & V8.
  • It really doesn't look like enough food. You should add a substantial protein to breakfast and lunch, and don't be afraid of a little fat. If you cut too low you won't lose either, and you'll set yourself up for failure. Just try to adhere to the plan, and don't go over board int he other direction to try to make up for a binge or whatever.
  • I would add an egg and v8 or PB and celery to breakfast, and maybe a salad with some veggies and turkey bacon crumbles to lunch. Otherwise I'd be starving and very cranky all day! :-D

    Thanks for the suggestions peeps! I had my 2 babybel lights with lunch and then some ham slices when i got in from work. I always struggle with breakfast and end up having natural yog nd sweetner everyday at work. Dont have much time in the morning to make anything. Any quick breakfast suggestions? Thought about having some tomato juice? What kind of eggs do you have in the morning? Not sure i could stomach egg so early, although i like to have it at the weekend after a lie in. xx
  • I can't stomach food first thing in the morning either. I have access to a microwave at work. I either take two raw eggs, or put some egg substitute in a bowl w/lid and bring with me to work. Then I cut up a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and put it in there and nuke for 1 minute...stir up...then nuke in increments of 30 seconds stirring in between until it's done. Sometimes i add salsa, sometimes add pepper, sometimes just leave with the eggs and cheese wedge.

  • I make the ricotta muffins from the recipe section but I subsitute low fat cottage cheese (less calories), use 6 eggs, add spinach and low fat cheese. You can bake up a batch and they freeze really well too. I have two for breakfast.

    Think i will deffo try these! I cant get low fat ricotta anywhere thought (live in England), does it matter if i just use normal?
  • Last time I did SB I used to like the veggie quiche cups from the book. I didn't use their veggie suggestions (HATE spinach!) but used different combinations that sounded good to me. I'd make a batch and freeze them and pop a few in the microwave on mornings when I didn't have time for a real breakfast. Haven't made those yet this time though.

    Another quick breakfast I like is walnuts, string cheese and v8.

    And of course there is always the old standby of hard boiled egg. I would have a hard time with that in the am only because I can't really think of what I would eat with it.

    I don't know what kind of time you have before work, but my usual breakfast is pretty quick. I poach 2 eggs(1 egg if I am having toast too) in my microwave poacher- 1 minute 7 seconds. Then I microwave a few slices of turkey bacon- 2 minutes. Pour my V-8...breakfast is all done in the time it takes for my coffee to brew. Another 10 minutes to eat and you'd be out the door and FULL for several hours.
    I have been experimenting with different breakfasts the past few days just because I was getting sick of eggs but I have found that I am hungrier throughout the rest of the day if I don't have my big breakfast. Tomorrow I am going back to my old standby!
