Your name is just beautiful! Does it have a special meaning?

BellaLucia 01-31-2010 06:14 AM

It does Kara. It means there's time for everything.

Ruthxxx 01-31-2010 06:17 AM

Good morning, OK. I won't join you on a fast but wish everyone financial security.

My yesterday was busy but great. I just loved spending the whole afternoon quilting with no phone or dogs to deal with. I'm going to do a few things around the house and then take off for today's marathon session. Claire is coming around noon to let the dogs out and give the poor neglected creatures a bit of love. They really do miss me and whimper for petting when I get home. Tonight I'll spend some time giving tummy rubs while we watch TV.

I wish you a good Sunday and tummy rubs if you need them! ;)

tomandkara 01-31-2010 06:22 AM

Thanks for the tummy rubs, Ruth! No one has rubbed my tummy since Avery was born. :) Enjoy your day of quilting!

Okie, thanks for the explanation. That is a special meaning!

BellaLucia 01-31-2010 06:59 AM

Thanks Kara. I need u to pray for me! I am so angry with my enemies! Frankly, **** is too good a place for them IMHO. I'm no saint but I've always tried my best to be decent.

WaistingTime 01-31-2010 07:03 AM

Good morning Kara. Enjoy that stuff now while the kids are young... eventually they drive themselves (which is actually very nice but nerve wracking) and they will not allow you to cheer. Amazing how food can really impact how we feel!

FoodO - You are up all night with the moon!

Ruth - Isn't it nice to be greeted by furry friends:) I'll trade my tummy rub for a back rub!

I literal spent all day yesterday on the darn computer stuff, except for DS's activities. Speaking of... he will show up some time this morning, I hope, after an overnight, after the after-party, after the dance, after the dinner... He will be tired! Basketball for him today. More computer for me. Not fun yet... but getting there.

I can't believe the month is over!!!

cottagebythesea 01-31-2010 07:38 AM

Happy last day of January! :hat: :woo:

Good morning Okie, Kara, Ruth, Karen!

I wsh everyone financial security, but I'm passing on the fasting. With all the running around I have to do, I need food for fuel. ;)

It's pretty out this morning, the sun is just coming out and making the snow sparkle. They're saying the roads are in bad shape, so I guess we'll wait til later to venture out. Jake wants to go to AC Moore or JoAnn's Crafts for a project, and I want to stop in to see my parents this morning. Monica and Carley are coming out to spend the day with us after church, so all my grandkids except Caitlyn will be here today. Caite is in Bar Harbor for the week. I have to run back to the supermarket, too. I'm making a turkey breast for dinner and need potatoes for mashed potatoes. I'll be enjoying my black bean soup while everyone else is having their turkey dinner.

Gotta run for now, Jake is calling me!

Heidi58 01-31-2010 08:02 AM

Good morning ladies!

You've been busy already - but I like reading your plans for the day so I guess checking in later isn't all bad. ;)

Lots of slippery roads, eh? Be careful everyone.

Linda, Caite sure picked a cold week to head up to Bar Harbor! It's -10 at my house right now. It's warmer on the coast of course, but I'm thinking the map they just showed on the local news said 1 degree for Bar Harbor..... At least she avoided the snow storm.

I slept soooo well last night. :) Babying my arm yesterday made a huge difference. I didn't wake up once and it feels so much better this morning. I was able to walk on the treadmill again yesterday, too. The jostling and swinging didn't feel great, so I did 2 short sessions, but I was able to do it. I'm well on the path to 'good as new again'. Thanks again for all of your prayers, good thoughts and well wishes.

I'm planning another easy day today. We had a really good turn out for Sunday School last week so I'm picking up donuts on the way this morning. It's a stretch for some of the teens to drag themselves out of bed early on Sunday mornings, lol. I like to surprise them with a little treat every now and then. Donuts are a good choice because they're not a favorite of mine. ;) Other than church all I've got on my schedule for today is a little meal planning and lesson planning. And plenty of hot tea. It's even cold in the house this morning.... brrrrr

Enjoy your Sunday friends!

CyndiM 01-31-2010 08:11 AM

Good morning :coffee2: I managed to sleep in again, in spite of the cats' attempts to get me out of bed ;)

Kara - Sorry about the weather but how nice to get a little found time. The driving does come sooner than you are ready and is both easier and way more stressful.

Okie - What a great name. Was it given or chosen?

Ruth - Hope you get some breathing time today.

Karen - How's that computer coming along? I know I'm going to need a new computer in the not too distant future and kind of dread it. I finally have this one set up exactly the way I want and I'll have to start over. Sadly new ones are so cheap it's often not worth having my tech guy fix an old one. Hope your computer is more fun today!

Cottage - The sun is out here too. We completely missed the snow for once. My brother lives in VA Beach and the girls were having a great time playing in the snow. It was the first time for the 5 year old. What did you think of that soup?

Mmc - It's hard to say exactly how much we spend on food for the two adults and 2 cats. A lot of our stew/soup veggies come from my dehydrated stock. I also buy in bulk whenever I find a good sale. For example yesterday I found urad dal for $1.39/2 lbs. Since I've only ever seen it at Indian grocers I bought 6 bags. Of course now I'm looking for recipes ;) Most of my dried beans, brown rice, bread flours and teas have come from those finds ( I also bought 12 boxes of Candy Cane Lane tea). We do spend a lot on things like organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee, fresh produce and grain free cat food though. We are lucky because we can choose to be really picky and buy organic whenever we can, and local or as close to local as possible. I don't think it averages out to more than $500 most months. We almost never eat out, other than take out from the Coop Deli so that helps. Sorry, way more complicated than it needed to be ;)

Heidi - I'm so glad that your arm is doing better and you slept through the night. Sleep helps everything. My DD and friends are at Attitash this weekend :brr: I sure hope she's spending lots of time in front of the fire with a warm drink.

Not much on tap around here today. More cooking, some serious cleaning, work on the resume and some playing with the Wii. I don't need to go out for anything and I don't think I will. DW has the benefit for the local warming shelter next weekend so we will be pretty busy and probably have house guests. Might as well enjoy the quiet weekend :)

BellaLucia 01-31-2010 08:17 AM

Okiemute is my given name. Okie is a nickname given to me by my friend Emily Smolka. Em is getting married soon. I hope to have lost enough weight for her wedding in September.

Heidi58 01-31-2010 08:33 AM

Attitash THIS weekend, Cyndi? Well, the good news is it's sunny.....
How disappointing to plunk down the money for a ski trip and have frigid weather force you inside. :(

Okie, you're off to a nice start. I'm sure you'll be looking good and feeling great by Em's wedding. :)

CyndiM 01-31-2010 08:35 AM

This is the same daughter that continued to run on 2 broken foot bones so she is probably out there snowboarding. No phone calls so I assume no broken bones.

Heidi58 01-31-2010 08:37 AM

Hmmm.... sounds like she's got your determination Cyndi!
I hope she's having a good time despite the weather.

Chelby29 01-31-2010 08:43 AM

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Okie, EWTN is in Birmingham, not too far from me.

Kara, Auston played t-ball for the first time last season. I cheered like a fool! :D He didn't really 'get' the rules. His goal was to get the ball, at all cost, then he hold it in the air like he had a prize! Forget throwing it to first! :)

Ruth, Will you post pictures of your quilt when you're finished? We have a quilters guild here. They are big supporters of The Children's Center, where I work.

Cottage, Does your family get together every Sunday? That would be a great tradition.

Karen, I'm not looking forward to when Auston is too cool to be seen with me. Although, it may be fun to dance through the store to spite him. :)

Heidi, Donuts are my worst vice. I'd rather have donuts than... well, you know. ;) I must stay far away!

Cyndi, Our ED will be retiring in two years.... ;)

Me: Jeff and Pops went to the flea market this morning. It's 24 degrees. Auston and I are sitting in front of the fire place, not going anywhere!

I went to the grocery store yesterday and got lots of good food. I'm excited to be eating on plan again. I feel better already. Tonight we're having roast chicken thighs -- on sale .98/lb -- and veggies. I'm also going to make a pot of chili for lunches this week.

Lexxiss 01-31-2010 08:57 AM

Good Morning:sunny:

We were invited to dinner last night and got home really late...hours past my bedtime! Needless to say, I must keep moving this morning. I read everyones posts   Have a great day! We need to get organized...church and we're going over the hill tomorrow morning before the crack of dawn...and it's the 1st day of our Spring Challenge. It was a nice 3 days off. See ya'll later!
