Twittering Tuesday
Wake up! I slept till 4pm on Monday so I made up for it by not having slept, lol. I am more serious than ever about grad. school in GVPT. I plan to stay in MD. I'll move out of my parents' place in a year. I am happy as a clam, the only thing I feel like I'm missing out on is a full-time job that I enjoy. I also feel like I need a man in my life. I've never had a serious bf! I am enjoying Phase 1.5, yesterday was the beginning of my second week on it. After this week, I'll move to Phase 2 proper.
|
Good morning everyone! I am up about an hour earlier than usual so I decided to join the daily chatter for the first time! This is my 4th week on SBD and like many I am going slow doing the 1.5 version right now! I'm looking forward to a short week at school this week (Mon. was a teacher work day:D) I say short but these weeks seem to pass slowly! I love my job but the older I get the more I look forward to weekends at home with my boys! They are 9 and 5 and I feel like they are growing up so fast I want to hold on to them as long as possible!
Foodobsessed- sounds like we are in just about the same spot on the SBD that I am! Congrats on grad school and it sounds like you have lots of goals to look forward to! Love your attitude this early in the AM it is very inspiring! |
Good Morning:sunny:
Hi, Okie, thanks for getting us started this morning. Sorry you didn't get much sleep. I know you've mentioned your medication goofs up your sleep patterns. I'm glad to hear you're still doing so well staying OP. "Happy as a clam", I haven't heard that for awhile! Glad to hear you're feeling so well. Hi, Lisa, great to see you visiting us at the daily chat. I think SBD gets better the longer you stay OP. I like early mornings. I get alot of things done that I don't feel much like doing later in the day. We are very good at counting down the days to the weekend! Your boys sure are cute! I'm sipping :coffee: and working in the office this morning. The week will go by really fast from here on out, so I'm trying to stay focused on the work so I can concentrate on fun stuff when I get my new sewing machine tomorrow. I look forward to hearing what everyone is up to today. :cofdate:. Stop and say hi! |
Good morning :coffee2:
Debbie - how do you keep track of everyone's names? Are you one of those people who always knows special dates and people's favorite things?? I'll trust that you know :) Okie - You have a great attitude. The BF will come when the time is right. Sounds like you have plenty on your plate right now. In the current economy the full time job you love might be hard to come by so you are smart positioning yourself for a job you love. Lisa - They do grow so fast. It's so important to make the most of your time now and enjoy every minute (well, most of them ;) ) Debbie - I'm too lazy to PM you but if you can get anasazi beans those would be great in that recipe. They are very hard to come by this year but might be easier in Colorado. Can't wait to hear about all your projects on your new toy :) Today is a late day and I had planned to go in late, maybe get a workout and some errands in this morning. Then yesterday the BFH announced a special meeting at 9 this morning with a "big announcement". I have some guesses but I hope I'm wrong. Anyway turns the day into a nearly 12 hour day for me because I still have my 6:30 meeting. I really try hard to avoid those days because they are really hard to get through well. I'm hoping for some clear sky so I can get a walk or two in. Oops, cats say it's time to feed them not type. |
Hi, Cyndi. I'll pick up some organic anasazis today. If you ever need some, I'll stick them in the mail. Even the organics are cheap here, and we could fit alot of beans in a $4 box. I'm headed through Anasazi country mid Feb. I hope the meeting turns out ok-the drama seems to never end. Sorry it sure makes for a long day.
|
Good morning ladies!
It's nice to see you borh this morning Okie and Lisa  Up an at 'em early as usual Debbie, are you swimming this morning? Cyndi, how are things looking in your neck of the woods? We've still got snow but it's got a horrid icy crust to it now and the driveways and walks are treacherous. I could have done without this little storm. lol Maybe your BFH's big announcement will be that he's leaving...... one can always hope, right? It's back to school for me this morning, too. We had a storm day yesterday so I have to go in a little bit early and undo all the "Monday things" I got ready before I came home on Friday. It's my long day, and I'll have to rush to pick up snacks for tonight's class. (Remember way back in October when I was nervous about rebellion if I didn't bring lots of chocolate? You folks were right, the group has gotten used to nuts, crackers, cheese and veggies or fruit now. :)) Today is our 30th wedding anniversary. I don't know where the time went! No celebration today though - no time for it. I guess it's just cards and memories today. |
Hey chicks! Thanks for the pats on the back! I feel good about my goals and believe that I can reach them with the support of family/friends like you.
|
Good morning!
FoodOb, it's sounds like you're in a good place right now and setting yourself up for a promising future! Good luck with your goals! Lisa, you are so right that our little ones grow up fast. Hold on to each precious moment and savor them while you can! Debbie, I'm an early morning person, too, and like to get it all done first thing. I know you've been looking forward to getting your new serger tomorrow, what's your first big project? Cyndi, ut-oh! Your day doesn't sound like it's going to be much fun, does it? I hope that meeting doesn't mean what you think, and the rest of the day will be stress-free. :crossed: Would you believe I'm drinking tea this morning? I have some kind of tummy thing going on, and am slightly nauseous, headachy, and have a low back ache. If I was 10 years younger I'd think it was TOM, but I don't have to worry about that! I did get in my 30 minute workout already today, though. :D What ever this is, I'm sure it will pass with time, and I'm going to attempt to have some oatmeal shortly. I ended up just having yogurt for lunch and supper yesterday, so I plan to have yesterday's meals today. I have a load of clothes in the dryer that just stopped, so I'd better go fold them before they wrinkle. I'll be back in a flash! |
Good morning chicks!
Okie - thanks for getting us started! I didn't have a serious boyfriend for quite a while either...yeesh, maybe in vet school? LOL..then I married a client ;). Lisa - I hear ya. I've recently come to the conclusion that women are supposed to be stay at home moms. My second enters kindergarten this fall, so I'm a bit late in realizing that. Oh well, we do the best we can, huh? Debbie - look at that ticker! You're so impressive!! Cyndi - you'll have to let us know the 'big announcement'. Hope you make it through the day okay. Heidi - Happy Anniversary! Me - Eh, same ole, same ole. It is my DH's birthday, so I got up at my "normal" time and made him breakfast and made his lunch instead of working out. I did my normal run yesterday, and then took the dog on a walk...2.3 miles in 32 minutes...we were bookin'! (that's hilly too!!) Maybe I can do that tonight to do something today. We're having complete food porn for supper. But, after that, I really need to get back on track. I haven't gained weight, but I'm just snacking too much. (isn't that what I write all the time?) I made a new soup yesterday....lentil and escarole soup. I've never used escarole before, it's delish! Almost tastes a bit sweet raw. I'll have to post the recipe sometime. have a great one! Cottage- hope you feel better! |
Good morning, Heidi, and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
|
And here I thought I'd be making this morning's post! :lol3:
Morning. Goodness, I really hate them. Ha. I am very much more so a night person. Anyway FoodO:  Morinin'! Happy Anniversary Heidi! Break out the wedding album missy! :p Cyndi - up and at 'em! :) Have a good day! Debbie- pass me some of that coffee, would ya? Lisa- Welcome to the chat! Yay for participating. Come around more often! Another busy day for me. Boy am I sore this am. Silly Wii Active/Fit. ow, if i can keep that up to 3x a week, I will be increasing my exercise by 300%!!! :lol3: I've actually been taking stairs and walking up and down too. The sky might be falling so duck y'all! Have a great OP day! :broc: |
Cottage: Hope you feel better sooner rather than later!
Twynn: sounds good -post it before summer comes and I don't want soup anymore! I've never cooked with escarole either... |
Hi all! I'm also late to the coffee klatch.
FoodObsessed - seems like you are at a positive turning point in your life. I love it when I'm at a "clearing" like that. Keep up the good vibes! Litar, I have a 5 year old too. Where did the time go? I tell him he'll always be my baby (sob). hi Lexxis!! CindyM, it took me a bit to figure out what BFH meant. As you know I have one too! Let us know what he says. Heidi, 30 years, OMG. You deserve a medal. Jenn - do I see your ticker is down another pound? Have a great day everyone!! |
Heidi, Happy Anniversery! When you said you were getting a Wii, I didn't realize it was so soon! I am smiling, I'm glad everyone likes the healthy food. I found that at my event this weekend, too. Folks initially cringed when I said I'd do food but wasn't bringing pizza, yet they seemed genuinely suprised at the healthy fare! Take care on those icy roads!
Okie, Cottage, sorry you're tummy is upset. I hope it passes soon! Thanks for asking, my first project will be to figure the darn thing out. The second will be one of my infamous grocery bags I make out of recycled pillowcases. I hope it's easy and fun! Hi Twynn, Happy BD to DH. How sweet of you to make breakfast. Boy, you're chalking up the miles! Have a great day! Hi, Jenn. You made me laugh! Thanks! I don't know if the sky can fall cause it must have already since I've been on SBD for almost 9 months! Have a great OP day, too. Hi, Mmc, I just figured out BFH, too. Have a great day! |
Chickies, I have a wonky PC so can't post much. I really think it's on its last legs. Yes, I did a defrag and compress and a virus scan but it's still not good - freezes up and kicks me out.
No time to buy a new one today. I had a 6" flood in the basement yesterday from which I am recovering and my neighbours' house burned early last evening. They will be in and out here today as they assess the damage - nice young couple who worked very hard to renovate. Luckily they weren't home at the time and their dog was elsewhere. Nice to see so many posts so early. I do read but don't have time to do personals these days. If anyone wants a job clearing wet stuff out of a basement, come on up. I have a lovely bean soup thawing for lunch. :cofdate: |
Food Obssessed Good Morning. Sounds like you have some great goals. You can achieve them.
Litar- Kids do grow so fast. Morning Debbie- sewing machine sounds like fun. Speaking of which I need to get some things altered. Cyndi Oh yuck about the 12 hour day. Hope the "big announcement" goes well for you. Heide Happy Anniversary Cottage- Sorry about the tummy thing. What about a UTI or somehting along those lines. They would make you lower back ache too. Or kidney infection. Tammy- WoW on the walk with the dogs. Jenn your so funny!!! LOL about he sky falling. Morning MMC- Have a great day. I had to really think about bfh too. I haven't had coffee yet so my brain is a little slow. HAHA Hoping the other two girls in the office are not sick and back at work. I am up early too. I am NOT a morning person, but I got up early to get some work done in the house. I have a midterm in my Macroeconomics class this week. I have from Wed till Thurs next week to take it. Hope you all have a great day. Tammie |
So sorry, Ruth:(
|
Ruth oh sorry about the neighbors house. Glad noone was hurt. And yuck about the basement. I'd love to help.
Tammie |
Jenn- How did the meeting go yesterday? Congratulations on all the moving and shaking :)
Heidi - It's an ice rink around here too but I think the roads are okay. I can't believe it's going to be so cold Friday. I really hate the huge temperature shifts. Hope your long day breezes by. Glad to hear you now have snacks you can eat! Oh, and happy anniversary whenever you celebrate it :) Linda - Hope your tummy feels better and the kids didn't breath on you too much. I was thinking of you this morning as that stupid game told me over and over and over that my legs were a little shaky and my balance was unstable. Like I wasn't trying to stabilize my back and legs! And we do this for fun?! Twynn- I love cannelini bean soup with escarole. It's one of my absolute favorite winter comfort foods. Funny story - I'd never seen the actual word until I was an adult. I actually didn't recognize it because I was used to hearing it in Italian :) Happy hubby birthday. Mmc - It's not so subtle ;) Hope your day is a breeze. Ruth - Have you tried threatening it? That's what I do with the household appliances (but not the car, we talk very gently to the car). I'll clean for bean soup :) Tammie - Hope everything falls into place today. Off I go :) |
Good morning gals. I'm later than usual because I was making breakfast cheesecake today:) I hope it cooks and cools in time to eat.
FoodO - So great that you are happy - that is the most important thing, after all, isn't it? BTW - I am married to my first serious boyfriend... good things come to those who wait:) Lisa - They do grow up too fast! Enjoy them! Debbie - What do you sew? (Just saw that answer. This is a long thread.) Cyndi - I hope you day goes quickly and the announcement is better than you expected. Heidi - Happy anniversary!!!! 30 years... wow. I think that says much more than gifts and celebrations ever could. Linda - (I remembered!) Sorry you don't feel well. On a positive side... maybe you will drop an extra pound with the tummy troubles:) Twynn - I find DH's birthday harder than my own... I won't dictate a diet menu for him. Last year DH was kind enough to let me buy him just one slice of cake so I didn't have to drool over a home-baked whole cake for days. That recipe sounds interesting. Jenn - Not me... I am a morning person for sure. Glad to hear the Wii is working for you. Mmc - Happy Tuesday. Ruth - OMG you sound like me - flood in basement, wonky PC. Yikes! Tammie - I hated economics. Good luck on your test. Wow - I hope I didn't miss anybody. I am going back to my early post time tomorrow - this is hard! DS has to go in early today... well, that means for the regular schools start time instead of his new second hour start time. So off to be sure he actually is awake now that I tried to wake him once. Have a great day all. |
Argh. The computer ate my first post with personals. Luckily, I finished my cleaning (except for folding that pesky laundry) and all after school activities were cancelled today because there's ice everywhere, so I have time to do it again.
Okie, congrats on the new goals! What's "GVPT"? Lisa, my oldest two are 8 and 5. They have so much personality and always keep me on my toes. Debbie, my grandmother just recently got a serger and then she taught me how to use it so she can pass it on to me. I'm the only grandchild who sews and I love to sit with her and pick up all her little tricks and tips. She made my wedding dress and it was just beautiful. Cyndi, I hope the announcement is that they're honoring you for all the great work you do! Happy Anniversary, Heidi! It's good to celebrate, even if it's just with cards and memories! Linda, I hope you feel better soon! Jenn, that Wii is addictive, isn't it? I can't wait to get on tonight! Mmckellen, we should start an I-have-a-five-year-old club! Oh Ruth! I'm so sorry to hear about your basement. What a mess! If we were an ocean closer, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Tammie, good luck in your midterm!!! Karen, isn't waking kids a half hour long adventure? Sometimes I want to use a bucket of cold water! I'd better get to folding that laundry. Isn't life exciting?! I might get a head start on tomorrow's cleaning so I can get to the gym in the morning instead of spending all of my free time dusting and sweeping. It's cold cold cold out today so I don't mind being stuck inside. |
Goodness, it's early for so much chatter!
Quiet Tuesday, I think. Day 1 of Phase 1 Detox went well, but not looking forward to day 3. I hit the grocery store last night to load up on all my secret weapons. I'm determined on a clean 2 weeks of Phase I. I really think I need it. I've got to take the cats to the vet later. Chloe is not looking forward to it, as the vet always tells her she is too fat. I know the feeling. I was not able to ditch the Charleston trip, still undecided about Dallas. I'll let you know, Barb! Good Morning lisa, glad you joined the chat! Okie, I see you are in Bowie. I am from Annapolis. Congrats on grad school! Good luck getting through your long day, Cyndi. New sewing machine, Debbie? I've been wanting a new one - what did you get? Happy Anniversary, Heidi! Feel better cottage. Tammy, hope DH has a happy birthday. Your recipe sounds yummy. jenn, I am also curious about your meeting. I can figure out if I'm a morning person or a night person. I think I'm actually neither. Early to bed and late to rise makes a chick healthy, wealthy, and well-rested! Good morning Mmc Ruth, I have the same job today, I've got the basement pumped out, now to turn on the fans and dry everything out. Ick! That's so sad about your neighbor's house. Do they know what started the fire? Hello Tammie! Good luck with your exam. I've always hated any kind of economics. I'll stick to the sciences, thank you! Waisting, I love that breakfast cheesecake. It's best after chilling. Kara, enjoy your stuck-at-home day. It's nice when you are used to running running! Maybe I should give Wii Fit another try. We have it and I've used it ... once. Didn't seem like much of a workout, but maybe I didn't try the right stuff, or give it enough of a chance. Hope I didn't miss anyone! Have a great day all. I've got to run some stuff DD forgot to school and then get to work. Argg. |
Schmoo, I don't think the Wii Fit is as intense as my normal workout routine, but it is a good way to keep me off of the couch in the evening. I've been obsessing about my chocolate chip cookie craving the last couple nights, but last night I wasn't even thinking about it because I was having so much fun! There's even a setting where you can run in place and watch regular TV and the remote tells you when your time is up!
|
Schmoodle - I really did LOL about you having empathy for your cat's weigh in:) My DS forgot something for school today too... DH just ran it up there.
Kara - I worried about my oldest going to college because he never was able to wake up to an alarm at home. I could hear it going off in my room down the hall from behind two closed doors, and he'd be sleeping away! But somehow me manages to get up for lots of 8:00am college classes. (Poor guy - engineers start early.) Still waiting for my cheesecakes to cool. Good thing it is a late class at the gym today. |
Kara- How do you run in place and watch tv. I didn't know that. Will have to investigate. LOL I only like certain shows on Mon, Tues, and Thurs night. But it would be great to get exercise in while I watch.
Thanks everyone for the encouragment for my exam. I am somewhat worried. I think I understand the concepts, but I really want an A in this class. I had a c last term in one of my classes and I want to bring my gpa back up. LOL Man I wish I had finished school 15 yrs ago when I first started it is so much harder going back now iwht full time job, being full time mom and wife. |
The meeting was fine - she pretended as though it never happened. One of the men in her "clique" (these are 40-65 year olds I'm talking about, BTW) started off a meeting yesterday morning really poorly and I was dealing with that. I feel like the tattle tale but at least I express my displeasure to their faces first :)
Ruth, sorry to hear about the flooding and the neighbor's house. Yes McM, thanks for noticing. Down another pound. Have to fix the other ticker. DW weighed in for the first time in 2 weeks and she was down 5. Too bad we had a fight thereafter.... Off to start the work day... |
Tammie, it was called "Free Run". I'll investigate more when I do it later.
|
Jenn Great job on the other pound down. Tell DW woohoo on her loss too. Sorry bout the fight.
|
Wish I had time to reply but I can only steal a couple of minutes from work.
I'm slowly working my way through all the new tasks I have for my job. And I'm slowly getting some of my uncle's issues resolved. I almost have access to his accounts now so I can pay some of the trust's bills. The Court of Honor last night was nice. Brian got one merit badge. He would have gotten his Star rank except he couldn't think of what to say when his Scoutmaster asked him how he has been living the scout Oath and Law in his daily life. I can think of lots of things but he needs to do it on his own. It's hard letting a kid grow up and be responsible for his own actions but that is the only way he will learn. |
WOW- we are a chatty bunch this morning!!! Hopefully I will have time later this afternoon to see what everyone is up to but as of now, I am pressed for time.... Mostly the stuff I have to do before my trip this morning, laundry, cleaning, errands, etc... then this afternoon we will be taking the dogs to my moms so the person who will be house sitting for us only has to take care of the kitties... and I have 3 hair appointments I have to do this evening as well. Its going to be a busy busy day! I can't seem to get myself to stay on my plan that I make for the day- I have been eating OP but not the plan that I made in advance... so next week when we get back I am going to make out a meal plan and only buy for it. that should help with my grocery budget as well!
Anywho- hope you chickies have a great OP day!!! |
I wish I was able to get here earlier in the morning, but it just doesn't seem to be happening. I'm going to have to reanalyze my schedule and see if there are any changes I can make. I just don't feel like I'm really getting anything done besides work, working out and eating. I need to find some balance. Shoot. Here's another urgent project. Sigh.
Happy Anniversary, Heidi!!! |
I'm off to the pool thought I'd say a quick hi
Karen, I'm interested in the CCake report. I've never tried many of the "sweet" recipes. Rikki, have a great trip! Sounds like you're leaving soon. Barb, I love hearing about Brians Scout journey. Tammie, good luck studying! Schmoodle, I ordered a Brother serger from Costco. I was glad to hear your DH is safe in the Philippines. Kara, I love Grandmothers' who pass down traditions. Sophie, |
Thank you all for the congratulations.

I went in to school but came home again. I was rushing around (as usual, though there was no need to rush ) and I fell down the slippery porch steps. My arm/wrist is really hurting, but for now I'm just icing it. If it's no better after lunch I'll go get an x-ray. I came down hard on the steps and I've got a nice set of bruise/stripes across my thigh, hip, back and shoulder and a bump on my head. I'll survive but I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself right now. ;) I probably could have managed school, but I've got 200+ sick days saved up and I'm grumpy when I'm hurting. I'm typing with 1 hand - slow & frustrating, so I'll sign off for now, but I'll be back in a while. Linda - I hope you haven't got what the girls had. Feel better soon! Ruth - I'm so sorry about your neighbors' home. :( What a good friend/neighbor you are to offer them help while you're dealing with your flooded basement. Kim, I'm like you - it's so hard to come in to this thread later in the morning. I love reading all the posts but replying seems overwhelming - I don't want anyone to think I'm 'snubbing' them but it's tough to respond to each one! I'm thinking of adding this disclaimer to my signature: Please know that I love reading your posts even if I don't comment on each one. :D |
Eep Heidi! Go get an xray and be on the safe side if you can get yourself there. feel better!
(can anyone tell I am totally slacking off at work today?) |
Good morning Barb. I remember those scouting days. I agree that it is hard to know when to back off. I am a bit of a helicopter/over-controller.
Rikki - Aren't we ever! I was thinking the same thing. But chat is fun. Have a great day. Quick "Hi" Kim. Sounds like you are busy. Debbie - they were soo delicious, and I am not even a real big cheesecake fan. I made a half batch as muffins and it was 18. I ate 3... felt guilty, but they are only about 78 calories each. They may be toooo good, if you know what I mean. And would make a great dessert too. Heidi - Yikes! Keep us posted. It may just be swollen so ice was a good idea. I fell off my bike this summer and was convinced I had broken my wrist, it hurt horrible and I could hardly move it. I put on a brace we have at home, iced, and the next day it was much better. But I don't have good medical insurance so avoid costs... if you have a good plan, you may want that xray. I now have a swimsuit in my future!!! I am booking my DH's surprise 50th for late April and we are going to Florida. And we will be traveling with friends and surely taking lots of pictures. Just the motivation I need:) |
Barbara, I'm glad things are looking up with your situation with your uncle's estate. Congrats to Brian on his merit badge! I bet he'll have an answer ready for next time for that Star rank!!!
Rikki, have a fun trip! Where are you going? Heidi, I hope you feel better later today but be sure to go in to see someone if there's any question. You don't want to cause further problems! Tom fell on the ice today, too, right in front of all his friends. I'm sure there will be razzing about that! Karen, a Florida vacation sounds wonderful! Especially since we're in the midst of all this snow and ice! |
Wow no way I can post personals- I think I will just drop a line so you know i am here and try and post on the weekends.
Cottage- sorry to hear you are feeling sick Heidi- Happy Anniversary and sorry about your fall- I would get it checked to be on the safe side Ruth- Sorry to hear about your basement- I couldn't live without my dehumidifier in the basement- when it rains hard I know I am going to have some water in the basement but it has never flooded. Everyone else hope you have a nice day. |
Heidi, sending *hugs* your way. lol
