DO NOT listen to those scales. their body fat analysis is complete BS. go to any local 24 hour fitness and they will accurately do it for you. if you ask for a fitness consultation it should be complimentary with it. you need to have the tool which pinches the back of your tricep, ab fat, and back fat. it averages these together and uses a certain formula. no scale can do that. keep paying attention to your eating and exercise habits and you'll be fine. no way are you only losing muscle unless you are starving yourself and eating literally no protein.

Congratulations on your baby! I did South Beach while nursing and never had supply issues. It's a great, sensible way of eating.

The scales that measure body fat percentage are notoriously inaccurate. They can be affected by your hydration level and even the ambient temperature in the room! I wouldn't worry about the body fat percentage that the scale is reporting.

I would caution you against not eating any fruits at all. Fruits have a lot of vitamins, and if you eat whole fruits with the skin on, they have a good bit of fiber as well.

Good to see you here!

Thanks for posting your question. It always helps me to get feedback. I ditto the others; I don't even attempt to find any info about my body fat because;
1) I don't have any accurate means to measure
2) It wouldn't have any effect on my changing any part of my program right now.
I think the only thing it would do would change my perception of myself, and I don't need that. While I certainly weigh myself, the questions I tend to ask myself are;
1) How do I feel OP?
2) How do my clothes fit?
I'm sure you'll have great feedback from SBer's who nursed, but I don't have any kids.

Congrats on your WL so far!

Best Wishes!

I second or third the opinion of everyone else here that says not to pay any attention to those silly scales, they are off so much of the time. I would just stick to the diet and not worry about anything else.

On the other note, I am breast feeding my baby as well although he is older now 13 months and I haven't had any trouble with the south beach diet. If you have been regularly getting enough calories I wouldn't even count them and just make sure you are eating until satisfied and are drinking tons of water. Good Luck and Good Job!

I have scales with body fat measurement on it and they are always way off. At my goal weight they say I have 27-29% body fat. I have had it checked at my gym and at my work health screen and always get 20% or less. I think waist measurements are the most accurate assessment and important for health reasons (decreasing that bad abdominal fat). Congratulations on your baby and keep up the good work.
