  • Wow, I slept in until 7 this morning! It felt wonderful, though, and there's nothing pressing to do today.

Ruth, I wonder what in the world's going on with Jazz? Maybe it's just getting used to the changes in the downstairs? I hope for your sake that he gets over this phase very soon. It's not so bad getting up earlier during the summer when they'll be daylight soon, but not now when it won't be light for hours still! Have a nice time with your DS's family this afternoon, and especially with your GD.

Debbie, these cooler days always put me in the baking mode, too. My carrot cake turned out nicely, but I have to run to the store for cream cheese before I can frost it. We'll have it for dessert with our Sunday dinner today with the kids.

I think Jake is wanting to go to breakfast, since he missed it yesterday, and afterwards we'll do a quick jaunt through Wegman's. I plan to stop in for coffee with Mom & Dad this morning, too, before heading home to spend the rest of the day seeing what needs doing in the yard. I'm looking forward to trying a new recipe for a spaghetti squash and Swiss chard casserole for my dinner, too. It's from Kayln's Kitchen, if anyone is interested.

    Have a sunny Sunday!
  • Morning all!
Ended up having a nice day yesterday (albeit dodging rain). We picked up a friend on the way out of town and went to our yummy breakfast place. I was "bad" and had my eggs sardou. The rain had slacked up after we finished so we went to the farmer's market. I got some of the yummy stuff from the sprout lady (crackers and sprouts). I would love to know how she makes the crackers...they are basically deydrated sprouts with herbs added. Yummy and no flour. I also bought a few more lettuce plants, some mini basil (like I need more basil plants!) and some green onion plants. A guy from a nearby microbrewery was giving away samples and my husband loved the beer, so we went over to the brewery afterwards (just a couple of blocks away) so my husband could get some beer for the LSU game, but they were closed by the time we got there...

Then we came back to town and hit the feed store and I got 50lbs of wheat seeds for 10 bucks! Cyndi, a yoga instructor at the gym said she used to grow it with no soil, so I'm trying a tray with that method to see how it turns out. With 50 lbs of the stuff, I can experiment!

Cottage, I really like the taste of the wheatgrass. It does taste like "mild" grass, but also is pretty sweet. I think it's yummy.

Spent the rest of the day working on cleaning the house and doing powerpoints for school.

It's a nasty day again, so I'm going to put on a pot of lentils and may go do a little clothes shopping if the rain lets up after I finish my last powerpoint. I need some long sleeved shirts desperately. The weather is definately cooler this morning...it didn't get below 90 during the day this last week which is weird.

Twynn, that baby is just adorable. She looks something like my Clair (aka eclair de lune)

Hope everyone has a great day!!!
  • Good morning everyone,

    Tywnn what a cutie!!!

Sounds like everyone is enjoying their weekend. Yesterday I took DS and two of his friends to McKendree University for Pre-view day had to be there by 9 a.m. -did lots of walking around campus- left the boys to watch Football game, ran and picked up DD2 for her soccer game at 1 p.m.- then we had to go run and pick up some styrofoam for DD1 bug biology project and then Grocery shopping. Did not get home til 6 p.m.- Needless to say I was tired and my eating was not the best yesterday, so I am doing a Phase 1 starting today for a few days to get back on track.

Not sure what we have onplan for today it is supposed to be nice but high of only 57. See if I can get everyone up so we can go to church and then need to do some cleaning in the house.

    Enjoy your day.
  • Hey everyone! Sarah and I are going to see the Toy Story Double Feature today. Rainy and chilly today here in South Texas.
  • Pearl, that bug project brings back a funny story to me.

My youngest was doing the bug project years ago when he was in high school and just needed one more to complete his list...a crane fly. There had been crane flies beaucoup around, but when he needed it, we couldn't find a one! I had been cleaning them up from all over the house for weeks before that. Then I had an idea...under the sofa, there had to be at least one body under there where everything collects! Lo and behold we found one...VERY crispy. It was so crunchy that we couldn't get the pin through it and it cracked in half. We ended up supergluing it to the pin, including one leg that fell off. Used a magnifying glass to do so. He got an A.
  • Checking in to see what's happening. We just did a 5 hr marathon and are almost finished. We had a giant antique painting that needed hung above the mantle. It looks nice. We've been emptying cupboards of junk and replacing with necessary junk. Kirk is out chopping the hollyhocks from the front walk. I'd much rather stay inside. Its sunny but 20 degrees.

Angie, thanks for popping in! I see you're at goal. Have fun at the movies. Hope you and you're family are all well.

Pearlrose, Hi Saturday sounded fun and busy...guess it's time to clean up and look towards Monday.

Cat, your weekend sure filled up with events. I'm interested as to how your experiment turns out. Lentils sound good, but I seem to be out right now. Geez, I'm amazed how hot it stays in your neck of the woods.

Cottage, Hi. Good on sleeping in! Wish I could-even 2 weeks without caffeine hasn't changed that. Your recipe sounds great. I really like Kayln's website.

Heidi, hope you get a break today before you jump back in with the kiddies. Nice your DH is thoughtful not to eat your favorites in front of you. I am really enjoying my baking SB friendly. I make alot of the old favorites using SB approved ingredients. The pumpkin cookies were something I pulled off the internet. Ph2 ok and tasty!

Back to work. I just had a pumpkin spice greek yogurt for a snack. Yum!
  • Cat that is so funny your story about the bug project, we need to look and see what she has left, we had little bag of bugs in our freezer for weeks. LOL

Debbie glad you got your marathon done today, brrrr it is cold there.

I got all of my cleaning done, one last load of clothes in the dryer- did 40 minutes of exercise and have ate phase 1 all day and feel great.

    Have a good evening everyone
