Tantalizing Tuesday
:coffee:
Notice how the days are starting to get shorter? I love the Fall, but dread the long, cold winter ahead. I guess it's a stretch to be thinking of winter today, though, as it's supposed to be another scorcher and the weathermen are warning everyone to stay out of the heat. We spent yesterday afternoon at a friend's pool, and I think we'll do the same again, today. We've been invited to help ourselves to a friend's raspberry patch, too, but I think we'll wait until later in the week when the temps are supposed to come down before we attempt any berry picking. So whatever your plans are for the day, make sure you stay cool and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated! |
Good morning. I've already had a big glass of water and am on my second coffee. Yes, it does feel like fall but not the temps! The AC really worked last night and my windows are all wet with condensation.
Paul and his merry men are just pulling up outside to start their day. I have a report to do for a meeting this morning and then will be outta here. It'll be another noisy and dusty day around here but today will be the worst of it, I hope. The addition is really taking shape now that the siding is on. I can hardly wait to move my sewingroom in! Have a great day and stay cool. |
Good Morning:sunny:
Stay cool! I officially closed the kitchen this morning except for salad. My day is shaping up to be busy with doggie business (3 meetings) but I do get to the pool first. The pups will get to go to their favorite park around 7 but I'm going to bring a coat and some coffee today. It was cold yesterday. I've decided to leave here about 4 am on Friday and just stop at Starbucks along the way for breaks. After I p/u Kirk at the airport we'll just come all the way back. Wow alot of driving to just end up where you started. Have a great day everyone. |
Cottage, I can't believe you are already thinking about fall. Seems like you Northern Chicks just got over winter! ;)
Ruth, You'll have to post pictures when your sewing room is complete. I feel your pain living in a construction zone, though. Debbie, I know you're excited about your hubby coming home. I love when Jeff goes away for the weekend, but that's long enough. Me, Today has to be easier than yesterday. On more than one occasion yesterday, three lines were ringing at the same time. That just doesn't happen in my office. Good thing others don't mind answering the phone. We also had a forensic interview that lasted almost 3 hours. It was full of drama and emotion. I need an easy day of filing and checking 3FC and Facebook. BTW, happy Tuesday! :) |

Good morning all :coffee2: I've decided my reward for buying, transferring, and setting up the new computer is to monopolize the phone line for a few minutes in the morning to check in :) Wish I had time for personals though. Sounds like you are all surviving the heat with your usual style and cheerfulness :) It's been too hot for long walks here so dog and I took 5 shorter walks yesterday. Not as satisfying but still good. Mom is great about serving lots of on plan foods (and has lost 20 lbs herself in the last year and a half!) so no problems there. Tomorrow I leave for home and the long, hot drive. Looks like our NH vacation will be very cool - temps in the 60s! Gotta love New England!
Have a good day all. I miss you! |
I'm taking Brian in for fasting bloodwork this morning. His doctor likes to do it every year or two for kids. We would have done it last Friday at his physical except they had told me he didn't need to fast when I made the appointment. We stayed up late last night watching episodes of The Colony. I think there are new ones on tonight but hopefully not so late.
cottage - I don't like noticing the days are getting shorter. It may be hot but I'm just not ready to think about winter. Ruth - Make sure you post pictures when it's finished. I'd love to see the new room. Debbie - I tend to use the toaster oven a lot when it's this hot. I dread thinking of my electric bill. Chelby - I'll hope you get a quieter day today. Mine was really quiet until the afternoon. Cyndi - We've been doing lots of shorter walks too. Rex just wants to stay in the air conditioning as much as he can. And it's still in the 90's at 10PM at night so he is as quick as he can. |
Good morning, everyone! Quick check-in for me as I was running late once again this morning. I barely had time to grab two hard-boiled eggs and some V8 before I ran out the door. Busy-work here at the office today, but at least it makes the day go by faster!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday!! |
Cottage, raspberries and swimming - mmmmm! berry season here is very early because it gets hot so early on. By the end of May the wild blackberries are all gone!
Ruth, I imagine you are very excited to be seeing real progress on the addition! Soon the chaos will be a distant memory. Debbie, it sure would be nice to need a coat around here right now. I don't think it's getting below 80 at night right now. Chelby, yesterday sounds chaotic! I hope today is much calmer. Did Auston walk himself to class this morning? Last year (3rd grade) was the first year my son didn't want me to walk him in on the first day of school. I wasn't ready for that! Cyndi, it's great that your mom is serving plenty of OP foods. It can be really difficult to stick to plan if your hosts don't understand your needs. Barb, good luck with the blood draw today. My son is a BIG weenie when it comes to medical procedures of any type and blood draws make him very nervous. Kim, hope you have a great day! Hopefully since you're busy the time will fly by! Today I am back on P1 for a couple of days to get things straightened out after our Niagara trip. I did not foresee my food needs being so hard to meet, especially on the days we were flying. Every time we sat down for a meal, I made sure to order well, but dining was so expensive in Niagara Falls (DH had a cheeseburger and I had a chicken salad at TGI Friday's, we each had a diet soda, and our bill was $46CN!) so we had to go for cheaper options a time or two, and there are not a lot of SB-friendly choices at those places. Today I'm returning DS's friend who spent the day/night with us, then taking DS to pick up his new glasses and a few things for school including T-shirts that are dress-code approved and a pair of tennis shoes. I love school shopping! :D Hope everyone has a *wonderful* day! -Jasmine |
Cottage- I have been thinking about fall and winter too! Its so strange how I long for the weather I cannot have ;) then when its here I long for the weather I cannot have again!!!
Ruth- Sounds like things are shaping up! yeay! new sewing room will be in before you know it! Lexxis- a lot of driving but totally worth it ;) I was just away from my dh for a week and I was suprised how difficult it was for me- glad you get to see your hubby soon! Chelby- hope things calm some for you today and you get all the FB time you need! Cyndi- I hope you are having a great time!!! just think of the dial-up as reason to release you from your online duties and more time with the fam! ;) Barb, Kim, Jasmine  Day 2 back on my plan and things are good- I can't wait to have all the toxic crap out of my body though! I love when I feel like all the inflammation is gone and my body just feels like "me". anywho- still catching up on all the household stuff today. rainy day here today- hoping to get to TJ's and WF but we shall see! Hope you all have a great day! |
Hi,
I'm Deana, I'm new here, on my second day of South Beach. My OB/Gyn recommended it last Friday and I spent the weekend reading books and gearing up. Not sure what I think about having pinto beans as part of my breakfast, but we'll see. I have a young toddler who needs lots of grains and fruits, so feeding him without feeding myself may be a challenge! Fall is my favorite time of year, but it's warm and humid here in Michigan. Just went out and filled up the wading pool. Can't wait for cooler weather, changing leaves and football games! |
Welcome, Deana! Great to "see" you here! This is a helpful group, so if you have questions you can't find the answers to on the FAQ, just ask and somebody will have the info.
|
Welcome, Deana! South Beach is great for kids. You wouldn't want to restrict their carbs but you can give them healthier choices like whole wheat bread and pastas and lots of fresh fruit. Once you finish phase 1, you'll be able to eat them as well. I often would eat the same thing as everyone else but just less pasta/bread and more veggies.
Brian's cholesterol is high again. It was two years ago but last year it was fine. I think his Dad was giving him whole milk because he complained of the taste of skim when he first came home. Apparently they ate mainly spaghetti and canned soups. I'm hoping the doctor lets me just control his diet more carefully and then retest. I'll get a call tomorrow after the doc sees the results. We haven't been eating on plan as completely as we should so I know there is room for improvement. |
Good day everyone,
Cottage enjoy your day at the pool Ruth- hope you got your report done quickly and was out of there. Debbie- that will be alot of driving on Friday hehe Chelby- Hope your day is slower today Cindy- glad to hear you are having a nice time Barb- I am sure when you are watching what he eats it will go back down. Kim- Have a good day today Jasmine- Have fun school shopping today. Rikki- glad to hear that day 1 went well. I finished phase 1 yesterday, I think I am just going to do 1.5 for a while and see how it goes. Welcome to the beach Deana- check the sticky threads for great ideas for recipies. Well- picked up the car without a hitch last night other than it was pouring buckets. I still have to get check to insurance but hopefully will just run by on the way home if not I am sure I will make it some day this week. Tonight is just laundry and taking care of this sore throat. Have a great day everyone |
Welcome on board, Deana! As the girls said, check out our entire SBD forum, where you'll find lots of helpful information and a wealth of delicious tried-and-true recipes for each Phase of this plan. I'm go glad you've been reading up on the fundamentals, as it's very important to know exactly how this way of eating works. We also have a Phase 1 thread that we keep current for newbies and re-doers that you may want to join in. Good luck!
