Thrilling is relative, of course. This morning I am thrilled to be eating a zucchini omelet made with veggies from my garden. I have a major crop of Swiss chard which will be on the lunch menu. (It doesn't take much to thrill me at my age!)
The power came back on around five yesterday. Another step in the route to a finished room. Today Paul is going to do the framing and joists. We also are going to have to make a small layout change which I'll lay on him when he gets here at seven. I did a scale drawing and have found an error.

The doggage go back to the kennel this morning for baths...that's the deal when you stay a week - free bath and nails. Keith didn't have time to do it last week as he was prepping some of his own dogs for a show. I know he likes me to hang around during bath time but I am going to beg off and do some errands.

This afternoon is free! I may get some more work done on a current project and some planning done for my next quilt for Victoria's quilts. Or I may tackle some of the weeds in the veggie garden. Or I may sit on the front porch reading New Yorker and sipping tea while the guys slave away. It's nice to have options.

It's supposed to be a lovely day here - something else to be thrilled about. I hope your day is semi-thrilling too!

Your Thrilling Thursday sounds great, Ruth. I'd love to come and sip tea on your porch with you, and share a delicious Swiss chard supper. Give those pups a big hug and cuddle from their Auntie Linda.

I'm going to enjoy my oatmeal with a fresh peach for breakfast, and contemplate my day. The girls are supposed to have diving lessons at the club this morning, but it's looking like rain. As long as there's no thunder or lightening, I guess it will still be a go, so we'll have to see. The plan was to spend most of the day at the pool, but we may have to come up with an alternative.

Today is my "Friday", as I took off tomorrow for my nephew's wedding. It's going to be a 2 day celebration, as we're going back to my brother's on Saturday for a BBQ and to watch the bride and groom open their gifts before leaving on their honeymoon. It should be a fun weekend, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Ruth, we forget about how important power is till we don't have it! Glad you didn't have to go too long without. Hope the pups enjoy the primping! One of my dogs, Stitch, a maltese, absolutely LOVES going to the beauty parlor. He's the one with the allergies, so he doesn't get to go too often.

Later on when my husband gets up and we've had our "big breakfast" that we have when he's home, we are going to head over to school and haul some display tables over that I bought when I had my store. I'm getting rid of my "teacher desk" and replacing it with one of the tables. The desk that is in my room is huge and I could use that space for kids to sit on the floor during group work.

For some reason I thought the kids come back on Tuesday, but it's Thursday, so we will have 3 professional days. Gives me more time to get ready for the kiddos.

The granola I made turned out great last night. My husband went on and on about how good it was. It was so easy to make and no nasty added sugar or chemicals!

I've got two visits this morning and then a bunch of wrap-up this afternoon. Should keep me occupied all day, always a good thing.

Tonight I've got a long list of things to do for our camping trip tomorrow. I'm going to make a variation on Kalyn's Zucchini and green chili casserole for breakfast and a big salad of spiral zucchini, tomatoes, fresh basil and beans. Then there's cleaning and checking and prepping the equipment. I am sooo looking forward to getting out in the woods for a couple of nights.First though, I have to get through today

Happy Friday! It's my Friday, too, as Auston and I are leaving on a jet plane tomorrow morning. Woohoo!!!

Cat, I have a friend who stayed in Lake Charles during a hurricane. They were out of power for days. He said, "Don't let anyone tell you that television isn't an addiction!" No doubt!

Me: I hope today goes faster than yesterday. Yesterday drug by for me! I don't have much packing to do, but I have some decision making because I am taking 1 carry on, and that's it! Do you know they charge minimum of $15 to check a bag on an airplane? We're only going to be there for 2 days. I'm cheap! Auston can wear my sister's boy's clothes. AND, I have to have room for my boa for the parade.

My sweet hubby snored the plaster off the wall last night. Sheesh! But, when I got up, his first words to me were, "I've never heard you snore like you did last night!" I think he's lying!

I've had better days, but it's important to check in. Yesterday just turned kind of crazy-too much travel-and probably to much time with Mom. Missing DH this morn and really wanting to just get some sleep.

I rode my bike to work today, which was wonderful.

This is the last day of work for the summer term, so I'll have a week and a half off before we start up for fall. Lots to do in one day--panicky students doing final papers and lots of copying, posting, cutting, etc. for me, on top of the need to do some major data entry to fix a mistake that was made all summer and only just caught. Let's hope I can get it all done!

Ruth, I'd love some good swiss chard recipes!

Cat, did you post your granola recipe? I've been working on one--my first batch was good, but could be much better. It's amazing how cheap and yummy homemade granola can be, isn't it?

Laurie, I posted it in the cereal thread...well, a link to it.
I did modify it though..no oil or apple sauce.
This is what i had on hand, so how I did it.
mixed 5 cups of rolled oats along with almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, ground flax, cinnamon and nut meg and a little salt...I didn't really measure anything, just dumped it all in a bowl. Then I spread that on a cookie sheet with parchment paper and put it in the for about 10 minutes to warm it up, then I drizzled agave on it and stirred. I stirred about every 10 minutes for the next 30 or 40 minutes. Oven at 350. Then I added the dehydrated cherries. I had a bag of dryed blueberries that I was going to add before I read the label...27 g of sugar with cornsyrup. It went in the garbage. Can't believe I picked those up at the store without checking the label. stupid girl!
I have a few nectarines that are about to "go" and more cherries, so I'm dehydrating those to add to the batch.

I am cheap too, we were gone for 9 days but I packed one very big suitcase for dd2 and me and all of the toiletries and such and dh just used a carry on for his stuff so we only had to pay for one suitcase. I packed a couple of extra carry on bags so we could carry home what we bought and still only pay for one bag. Worked great

As for me, I have a bit of a rumbly belly not sure why but DD1 was complaining of it yesterday so maybe I got what she had. Day 3 of Phase 1 for me- starting to get more energy back. Last night started reorganizing the house- got one third of downstairs done- the biggest portion- I am decluttering and re-arranging. Didn't realize how much dust books collect.

Today's my last day of vacation so I'll be back in the office tomorrow. I've got to drop of my dress at the cleaner's, go to the credit union and I need to clean the pool filter which is a huge job. I might end up putting it off until Brian is back since it can take two people to get the bolt fastened back.

It's finally cooled down here from the mid to high 90's to the 70's so I could get some cooking done. Does anyone have the link to the recipe for the zucchini and green chili casserole. It sounds wonderful and the garden is pumping out zucchini faster than I can give them away.

Thanks for all the good wishes today. I'm goin' to pick raspberries and trying to make a game plan for feeling better.

Waquilter, glad you are getting some cooler weather.

I have a few things I need to get done in the next few days, but nothing terribly pressing. DH gave me the water bill to mail, but I forgot it was in my purse (oops) so I need to get that mailed today. We're going to Niagara Falls next week for our 15th anniversary and I need to get my nails done and want to get my toes done. That may wait until tomorrow when DH will be home to keep the kiddo.

I thought today was Day 10 of Phase 1, but it's actually day 11! I'm down 10 pounds as of this morning, and can tell I've lost some inches, too.
