  • Good morning, all!

Had a late night in the city last night... BF talked me out of driving me in by reminding me how annoying it would be to have to pack 5+ intoxicated people into the car on the ride home. No way. So we sucked it up and took a ($25) cab. Ugh.

Because of that I am thinking of backing out on brunch plans today... just went food shopping yesterday and have a fridge full of good stuff, so I would feel bad spending money on eating out. Also, it's sooo gloomy here, I don't know if I'll muster the energy to head back into the city. BF is working again alll day, so I may head out to Long Island for a little mall shopping. We shall see.

Kim- Hope sunday school went well, I am sure you did great!
  • Where did spring go? We actually have a fire in the fireplace! Brrr!! It's 45 outside, windy and cloudy. I don't like it! I'm sure your northerners think I'm a weenie!

At the flea market, there were the most beautiful watermelon I've seen since last summer. They were out of Mexico. I almost bought one, but I refrained. Watermelon is one of my favorite treats of summer.

Tomorrow night, the Bunko group meets at my house. Fun, Fun! I have to come up with a menu. I'm thinking taco salad or maybe roast beef sandwiches? Gotta clean house today!

    You guys stay warm!

  • Morning. I got to bed at MIDNIGHT last night. I remember why I don't go out on the town much anymore. OY! I am so tired. But....

    MY BOYS COME HOME TODAY!!!!!!!

I have a Pampered Chef show to go to at 1 so I'd probably better start getting cleaned up. I'm a little slow-moving today. I think it was the Key Lime Pie Martini..... (I KNOW I KNOW. Back on the wagon today, if I can catch it.)

Hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday! I'll pop in later!

    Lisa

PS We got the snow they forcasted. Grrrrrr.
  • Well, the house is clean (enough), hooray! DD isn't sure if she wants to go out for dinner or just have something here. I've invited my parents, so I may end up with an unplanned dinner party. She's saying pizza and apple crisp, which would not be much trouble at all, but that doesn't sound celebratory enough for me!

meek, I haven't posted a recipe for cabbage rolls, but I know there are a couple posted. It's the kind of thing I don't use a recipe for, just depends on what I have on hand. For this batch, I mixed up brown rice (cooked), a little leftover ground beef, some TVP, chopped onion, garlic, green pepper, an egg, and some spicy V8, with some Worcestershire. Rolled it up in steamed cabbage leaves and layered in the crock pot with a can of crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, and some more V8. I'm glad I put it on because if we end up staying in for pizza, at least I'll have something to eat.
  • Hi Chickies,
I'm back. Had a wonderful time looking after my 19 month old grandson. He is so wonderful. Can't believer how much knowledge he has acquired in the 7 months I haven't seen him. I also did all the cooking. The first week (beginning of March)was the coldest week of the year so I was so happy that DH was along. We went to the mall and indoor playground alot. We had one wonderful day in Canmore, Alta. its on the tip of the Rockies and with the beautiful mountains and the purest snow I have seen, you could easily fall in love with winter.
My daughter passed her Flight Center tests and is now working for them and did very well the first week. Sold a couple of tickets to Australia.
She has a very small two bedroom condo so when we came home, DH and I lived on separate floors for a while.
I don't know what my weight says, but will do some serious beaching before I step on the scale.
Nice to see some new faces and the familiar ones.
Oh yea, I must have missed spring because my crazy neighbour was out working shirtless yesterday. What a guy. He's very kind and helpful to everyone just crazy.
    take care

  • Hi Sophie Sounds like a lovely visit. It's nice to see you again
  • They're HOME!!!!! Got great big huggers, and now Little Guy is playing the Wii and Tom is doing his thing, so I'm going to go to my parents' and visit with my mom. Eh. Nice to have them home though! I already have things to pick up!

Had fun at the Pampered Chef show, and booked a show of my own, made $30, and networked with a bunch of women I'd never met. Not a bad day!

Hope everyone has a fabulous evening!

  • Yesterday I spent all day at a Merit Badge college with Brian. It was in the 30's with a high wind and snow flurries! In Dallas when it's almost April? It's rare.

Today started cold but warmed up. We went to a FC Dallas soccer game with scouts and it ended up warming up and now I'm sunburned. I just never think of sunscreen when it's in the 30's. I should know better by now.

Time to go eat my grilled tilapia and fresh steamed veggies.
  • Today was a total failure of a day... went to go drive to the mall, and the car's low coolant light was on. Now, I am sure that this is a relatively simple thing to take care of, but I am so clueless when it comes to cars that I aborted mall plans and figured I'd let BF worry about it when he came home. So I decided I'd go to Macy's in the city instead... and I walked to the subway, and realized I had left my subway card in my other jacket pocket.

So I took this as a sign, headed home, and have been vegging on the couch ever since. Oh well...
  • Schmoodle, thanks for telling me the way you make the cabbage rolls. Sounds very good.
  • ha, ha, put don't use plastic toothpicks to hold the cabbage rolls together. A friend of mine did that (I won't tell you the colour of her hair.)
