OK, I received a few requests, so let's all go to my favorite Coffee shop today! They brew their own coffee and it's where I get my "Jamaican Me Crazy" Coffee for home! They have free WiFi as you enjoy a nice comfortable atmosphere. Just stay away from their DELICIOUS home made pastries they have in their shops! Here's the link for the shop to meet at! http://www.fingerlakescoffee.com/
OK, so we got SOCKED! So bad that it took me almost 2 hours to get home when it normally takes 45 minutes! Then I get home and got stuck in my driveway! And as I was trying to shovel around my car the idiot that plows our road was going to hit my car! I stood in front of where he was heading waving, at the last minute he zipped around my car! OUr speed zone here is 10 mph, I swear he plows at 30!
Some of you asked about my visitor (who is my son) doing chores. Well, he's suipposed to but he didn't do as he was asked yesterday. But with the weather it's alright. I had asked him to take the TV out to the road. It's not that big a deal. I'm disposing of my TV and entertainment center.
Speaking of said visitor, he's still here. He was insisting that I take him home last night, I told him NO way, the white outs were so bad at times I couldn't see out the windsheild, couldn't see my car let alone anything else! Plus the roads, the snow was coming so hard you know they had plowed, but some of them were so deep from the drifting snow and the snow fall I was having a hard time passing on them! I guess this is where the trucks come in handy! Too bad I have a sedan!
Jenne, you had a pic of your house, I wish thats all I had... I have two feet out here! I kid you not! Some areas it's higher due to the snow drifting!
Anyway, it's after five a.m. I'm going to go shower! I need to find out if I'm dropping DS off at his place on the way through to work. It's a little out of the way for me but not too bad and I'll be able to take a different, more travelled and therefore better plowed, route to work.
We have snow and lots of ice here to make things treacherous outside. I had the day off yesterday since it was a slippery playground outside. The schools are on a 2 hour delay, and I think I'm going to wait til the ice melts a bit before I head out this morning, too.
My internet was intermittant yesterday, so I gave up trying to get online. I spent the day cooking and reading, and got a good workout helping Jake shovel snow and ice off the driveway and sidewalk. That stuff was heavy!
Well, I'm off to read yesterday's threads and catch up. Have a great day, all, and drive safely!
Good morning We have snow, not as much as Lori but a whole lot I think. I've been hibernating since yesterday morning.
Lori - My brother used to live in Rochester and loved Finger Lakes coffee. He would bring it to my mom's all the time
Cottage - We put our shoveling off until this morning because it was still coming down at dark. Take it easy on that ice.
Nothing too exciting around here today. Another morning in the office, afternoon working at home. Tomorrow we head for the coast for 2 days though and that should be fun! We are going to the first Cape Ann Winter Birding Weekend. It looks very low key but we will learn some of the good places to bird in the area. It's less than an hour from our usual birding hot spot so that will be fun. We are not crazy enough however to go out on the boat trip Sunday That's just nuts We found a hotel on the beach with efficiencies so no food worries either.
My friend goes back to the Dr. tomorrow and is hoping she will let her return to work full time. I doubt it will happen yet, but we will see. I'm just leaving my afternoons flexible until she's able to either drive or work full days.
Cyndi, you are such a good person! I'm sure your friend or another friend will be there if you need help. (You must put a visit to Delta on your list for a visit - we have birds here too including the mythical Gillagalloo bird who eats red peppers and flies backwards ro keep hit butt cool!)
Lori, Finger Lakes, eh? You and Beachgal are pretty close together. I must keep that in mind when I plan a Ruthie Road Trip (RRT).
Cottage, you'd be on a RRT itinerary too, of course. I need you to cook me tofu because it sure isn't going to happen around here.
We didn't get as much snow as predicted - PTL - but the drifting was pretty bad. The dogs had to wait patiently while I shovelled the deck drift so they could get down into the dog yard. The lane is really socked in so there will be no trash lugging this morning unless Richard ploughs before the pick-up truck comes.
It's supposed to be a Donna Day but she'll be late if she comes at all. I plan a morning in the kitchen and an afternoon in the sewingroom AFTER I've shovelled the rest of the decks, steps and sidewalk. It's a good day to cozy in and I have nothing on the schedule for once. Tomorrow is another matter!
Lori - I'm so sorry that you have so much snow in your area. That sounds terrible! I hope your son realizes how lucky he is to have you to keep a roof over his head, even if he does have to do chores every once in a while.
Cottage - So what did you end up cooking yesterday? So nice to have some unexpected time to get something like that done. I'm sure it was all delicious.
Cyndi - Sounds like you've got a well deserved weekend coming your way. Were you able to get the bike set up? How's that going?
Ruth - Glad to hear that the snow wasn't too bad for you yesterday. I giggled at the vision I had in my head of your two pups waiting, impatiently, for you to shovel the drift off the deck. I'm sure they are two of the luckiest dogs alive today.
Chelby - Hope the blood work goes off without a hitch! And I'm 35 and have never been in snow, let alone shoveled it. I wouldn't even know where to start.
Me - So I'm happy today. I finally got to add my carrot back to my mini-goals. I had taken the last one off after my Christmas binge, and I'm finally able to add it back on. It's been a struggle, but it's nice to finally see results.
Last night Rich went to the hockey game with his buddy, so I was left to my devices, however, because he was gone I was not allowed to watch Lost, so we might end up doing that tonight. Other than that, I think it will be a really quiet evening again. It's been nice just to be home.
Have a great day, ladies. Try to stay warm!!! BLESSINGS!!!
Good morning chicks,
The kids had off school the last two days. Today they go back and are pretty grumbly about it, but it's 2 hours late so at least they got to sleep in a little (and me too!). They were pretty good yesterday and played outside most of the afternoon. Tuesday it took me 3 hours to get to Quantico. The MD roads were good although traffic was heavy and slow, but VA didn't seem like they had treated the roads at all and one of my co-workers told me they had decided not to plow until they got two inches. What's up with that VA? The beltway was pretty sketchy. DH had a harder time coming home from Baltimore last night. There were some bad accidents due to the ice, and he got in pretty late. Before anyone reminds me that I was hoping for some snow, let me add that I like snow, but I like to get enough that we can justify staying home and playing in it!
The govt will not have our contract renewal awarded before our current one expires the end of next week. So my company is strongly urging us to catch up on any training we have due, and if we were planning on taking a few days off, the following week would be a good time. Hopefully the lapse won't last more than a week. So, very tempting, I've got plenty of leave and lots of things I could accomplish around here. I should start a list.
Because of the weather, lots of DD's activities have gotten rearranged. So tonight she's got basketball practice 5:30 - 7:30, Girl Scouts 6:30 - 7:45, and dance class 7:45 - 8:30. Not sure yet how we're going to work that one out!
Almost Friday chicks!
Loriann, hope your drive to work this morning wasn't too bad! Did you get rid of your visitor? cottage, I did a little shoveling yesterday but don't think I'll bother now - too much of it's ice anyway. Hopefully it will warm up enough today to melt.
Hey Cyndi, enjoy that weekend and dress warmly! Ruth, you are too much! Don't forget, me and Nessa and Jenn and cottage down here for one of your RRTs! By the way, been meaning to ask, is that you on cottage's facebook?
Have a fun lunch with your friend Chelby!
Hi guys Just checking in. My scale is up, TOM is visiting and the only thing I can keep focus on is the adoption situation. Normality will come soon I just know it.
Funny story -- I was sitting in the waiting room for my turn at bloodwork this morning. There were 6 old guys (65-75) in the lobby, too. From their conversation, they were all diabetic waiting for bloodwork. I tried not to eavesdrop, but the room was small. One guy said, "I never thought I'd get used to whole wheat bread. But, if you put it in the oven with a little of that 'I Wish It Was Butter', it's pretty good!" I laughed till tears rolled down my face!
Lori: Thank goodness you made it home safely! And that you stayed home rather than taking your son home. I hope you're all nice and cozy at work already.
Cottage: I wish I could join you and Jake for some snow shoveling...it's got to be more enjoyable than what DH had me do yesterday! I hope you and the girls have a warm afternoon!
Cyndi: I'm glad DP's job is going well! Sounds like a fun (but cold) weekend...I'll be looking for pictures when you get back!
Ruth: Poor doggies! Thank goodness you're there to make sure their path is clear! I hope you're done shoveling and are warm and toasty by now. Enjoy your day inside!
Chelby: Ugh! Fasting for blood work is the worst! I hope it's all done and over with and you're enjoying your Cracker Barrel veggies right now! Have a great day! ETA: That story was GREAT! Lol! Too funny!
Heather: Yay for earning that carrot back! I'm hoping to join you in the carrot dance after Sunday! I hope you enjoyed your alone time last night!
Schmoodle: Ooooh...a week off to get things done sounds great! I'm sure you'll make the most of it and get a ton accomplished.
Gonna: Glad you're still checking in with us! Prayers to you and yours!
Me: Not much here, as usual. Last night DH introduced me to the O-Course. (Get your minds out of the gutter! ) It's two 5-minute running sets thrown into my normal workout and it was KILLER! He had me jumping over logs, doing jumping jacks, mountain runs...ugh. It was horrid, but it was a great workout. He's going to throw them in several times a week as a surprise. I'm so thrilled. Actually, things are going pretty well...I've asked him to continue his program for me through February. He's already done my workout calendar for the month and it's got increased reps, increased cardio minutes and less "your choice" days. I'm excited to continue with it.
Well...off to work. That's all that's going on today besides my Avon order coming in. Sounds exciting, doesn't it?

Just in from doing half the shovelling and was lucky enough to be there when a cardinal and his mate visited the bird feeder followed by a rose-breasted grosbeak, the second one I've seen in my life.
It gave me a nice cheery lift so I could get over my horror in discovering a jar of pickles had tipped and dripped juice all over my fridge. They were sweet pickles too - a legacy from a Pyper visit!
Sorry, chicks! It's been a crazy week! We had a snow day yesterday (yay!) and this morning there were a ton of people in the first hour of the day at work...it's been nonstop ever since. Yikes!
Yup, Ruthie, Lori is just north of me. She lives in a beautiful area. We're way more citified, sadly. I hear you on the drifting...the wind last night was so fierce that all the blowing snow looked like what I imagine a blizzard looks like. Yikes! Did a bunch of shoveling and also made a snowwoman last night. It was fun...thanks to our neighbor who plowed most of it for us. I had just enough to do that I got a good workout.
Congrats on the carrot, Heather!
Gonna, I'm keeping you in prayer. Hope the adoption situation resolves soon.
Hope you're all staying warm and comfy. I've got a usual day today--work, home, water aerobics, and dinner (a WW veggie lasagna that DH is making, bless him!). I'm wearing a shirt that's pretty close-fitting and I actually feel good in it, which feels like a blessing. Even though my scale only showed a one pound loss for this week, my nutritionist said I lost 3.5 lbs in the last two weeks. Who knows! At least his machine shows that I'm losing fat and gaining muscle. I love moving in the right direction...
