Default Are beans a veggie?

Curious are beans considered a vegetable, I feel silly asking but I have always wondered? Do they count towards your 4 1/2 cups or are they on their own?

Thanks for the info.

Nope, beans are not a vegetable, they're...beans! (Legumes.) So they don't count toward your 4.5 cups of veggies per day.

Unless you mean green or yellow snap beans which ARE a veggie and do count.

No need to feel silly for asking though!

Lol I guess I was thinking...hmm I know how to grow beans, even the black ones and such and they grow from bushes in pods and its the seeds inside those dried out, so maybe they are vegetables. Thanks so much for the awnsers, I want to try out recipes and collect lots of information before I start this full fledged. I am gonna try to cook a bread recipe I found that is ok for phase one and uses cheeses and garbanzo flour. We will see how it is, sounded like it would be good for Christmas or New Years toasted with some artichoke or spinach dip.
