Hi all! I'm new to 3fc and apparently can get lost easy...lol I posted a questions about dealing with stress eating in last week's chat session if anyone wants to look it over.

Congrats to everyone who is making progress!! I hope to get to know you all better and working together so we can all reach our goals!

Quickly - I'm the mom of 4 girls (12, 10, 9 & 2) and wife of an often traveling hubby. I'm lacking in the support dept because I don't want to impose on anyone. I'm hoping that by turning here, I'll be able to make more progress than trying to do it on my own.

Started sbd on Thursday, did well friday. Then lost it over the weekend. Started off well today and hope to keep it going. Going to be catching up on laundry all day today and need to get in my 20 minutes of exercise. Wish me luck!... ;)

UGH! This is a full pot of coffee Monday! We are moved! I won't bore you with all the ugly stories, it was a very stressful weekend!

Needless to say the house is a mess, but I was glad to come to work today and just sit at my desk, do no heavy lifting, no unpacking, just work my brain today instead of my poor aching body.

No time for personals as I had to catch up on what ya'll were doing without me this weekend!

Schmoodle so glad to see you back! I have missed you!

CyndiM 11-10-2008 10:17 AM

You Chicks are so sweet :) Didn't mean to worry anyone - I have a severely herniated disk in my neck, the one that lots of people who work at computers get. The only thing that keeps the symptoms under control is monthly massages and I've had to cancel recently.

Cottage - They will help speed up your recovery from that cold so if you can find them they'd be worth trying.

Ruth - Can't wait to see the pictures!

KO - I live for thrift stores :) I've thought of volunteering at the Hospice shop. Could be fun :)

Schmoodle - We can help each other get back on track. I saw numbers that made me cringe yesterday. Time to get control again before the holiday challenges kick into full gear!

Gonna - Good luck with that injury. Hope you're able to be off your feet as much time as you need to.

fmb101 - Welcome! The hardest thing for a lot of us is learning that we need to make ourselves a priority. Remember that if you aren't healthy you aren't going to be able to fully support those you love.

Pacer - You survived the actual move. Now for the unpacking ( we still have untouched boxes after 5 years :o

Zeff & Sophie & everyone stopping by after I get back to work ;)

Wowee--lots of talking in here this morning! Glad everyone's up and about in spite of it being a Monday! ;)

:welcome3: fmb! I'm so glad you've joined us in the daily. Did you want me to move your posts from the other thread into today's thread? We close the old ones so no one will be able to respond to you there. Also, please start a new thread and introduce yourself there so the members who don't read the daily will get a chance to welcome you, too. :D I hear you on not wanting to impose, but I learned quickly that asking people to support you in your work towards good health is NOT imposing. I had to get the nerve to feel okay about asking for things to be served differently in restaurants, asking my husband to keep junk food out of the house, and asking people what they're serving when I go to a dinner so I can bring stuff for myself if their food is off plan. It's hard to become comfortable with at first, but it gets easier very quickly, IMHO. :)

Ooh, Cottage, could you manage to cough on her just before going home for the weekend? :s: I'm so sorry you end up working on days when you're ill. That's just plain wrong. I swear by Cold Eeze (zinc lozenges) and they make a SF version. They work best if you take them at the first sign of a cold, but they help shorten the duration even if you take them during the cold. Zinc and C work best together, so you could try both that and the Emergen-C and see how you feel! :)

I hope everyone who's hurting or sick gets better very fast! :getwell:

Today looks balanced. I've got some work and some time to get other stuff done. I'm going to the gym after work to do the elliptical and am hoping my knee (which has been hurting a little) isn't aggravated by that. I hate to give up my cardio, but can't think of anything that hurts my knee less than elliptical. I'll do my best to be aware of my knee and stop if it hurts.

I've got normal chores tonight--garbage duty, dishes, and would also like to do something fun. Tomorrow I hope to tackle scraping the wallpaper!

Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Thanks Beachgal! If you could move the post, that would be great. I would like to get everyone's input on stress eating!

I hope you can get your elliptical workout done without pain. I developed burcitis (sp?) in my hips when I was doing squats with weights and that was very painful. I'm actually in the process of trying to find a better way to start strength training so I can minimize my chances of having it flare up again :(:crossed:

Wow chatty little group this morning aren't we? I am sooo not a morning person but this is a good way for me to get started(as I woke up after 9 this morning!!!)
Lisa- good for you for asking for a little breathing room- imo proving to her you have confidence and that you know what you are doing, but still looking for her approval! bravo!
phx- enjoy the rest of your ong weekend- and gl finding that couch! I need to do laundry AND put it away too!
Cottage- hope you feel better
Ruth-I will be crabbing over Country Christmas too! I had to relook at where you are from when you said that!!! I work at Gaylord Opryland and we do a HUGE country christmas event every year...http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord...go-ba-accmicro one of these days I will take pictures for you guys- its truly spectacular! However, you get tired of it when you are there everyday! :)
KO-you poor graceful thing! take care of those blisters... and good luck getting dh to salsa! I wish I could get mine there!!!

NOW, cottage, ruth , and KO- you ladies behave yourselves! No slapping or getting anyone sick! lol

Shmoodle- I am with you about getting back on track. I woke up with a whole other mindset- I will have to go check out your post!
gonnabe-ouch! Good luck at the dr!
Zeff-good luck with your laptop! I hate ironing too- so much that I don't do it. if somethng needs to be ironed after washing, I probably won't ever wear it! ha!
Sophie-enjoy your walk!
fmb-Welcome! and good luck catching up!
pacer-WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO on your move! now, with that said-good luck on the unpacking! lol
Laurie- careful and don't overwork your knee! I used to use the elliptical alot until I felt like I could use the treadmill again.... now they both hurt me a little but I prefer the treadmill... for some reason the smoother action makes my knee crackle-I guess it probably does it with either one but I prefer the not being able to notice it :)

For me today I am making a BIG list!!!!!
Laundry, clean all the bathrooms top to bottom!, beans are in the crock pot, vacuum the stairs(I HATE CARPET!!!!!),put wedding photos in frames, MAYBEput the Christmas lights up outside... depends on how warm it gets... but I told dh yesterday as he was in awe that someone had already put theirs up- I said, they are smart-the did it while it was warm!!!!! and I think he agreed! lol OK, time to get a jump on that laundry-I did hte grocery shopping yesterday for the most part but there are a few things that wally world didn't have so I will have to go to Kroger or Punblix today to get them. I would also love to check out our new Trader Joes sometime- I think its open now... maybe I will go post a thread to get ideas on what great finds I may get there!

Kim_Star060404 11-10-2008 11:01 AM

Hi, everyone! Quick check-in for me as I'm supposed to be working hard at the moment. Our weekend of shopping in Midland was fun and I crossed off about 80% of our Christmas list! Woohoo!

Also, DH spoiled me a bit with new clothes (some size L shirts instead of XL or XXL) and some new workout gear; a pair of training gloves for the heavy bag and a rebounder for bouncing while watching tv. How long do you think it will be before he gets sick of the springing noises?

Well, off to work...;)

Have a great day, everyone!

P.S. Schmoodle: nice to see you back again and I love your avatar! Did they have to postpone releasing #6?!?!

Jenskihere 11-10-2008 11:19 AM

Hi everyone!
BUSY weekend... WHEW, glad to be working today for a breather. I am on an organizing kick, didn't get as much done this weekend as I had wanted. I had a ton of shows on Tivo, so I spent a few hours in the afternoon yesterday vegging on the couch and catching up!
The kids are off school tomorrow and we are taking the car in for service tonight, so I will be stuck at home tomorrow. I think I am going to tackle the kitchen cabinets. Seems like lately when I open the doors, something comes falling out at me!
Kim - 80% done?!? I am jealous! I am about 20% done. I have a plan... just need to get out and get it done. We had a talk with all the adults in our family this year. No more gifts for adults. It was getting crazy, exchanging gift cards it seemed. We will focus on the kids, and enjoy meals and drinks to celebrate the holidays. Boy did it take a lot of stress off the shopping list. I am so in the mood for the holidays, I can't wait to decorate!!
I went to the gym this morning, in the cold and dark. Boy it was cold!! I need to start dressing warmer for the 5 minute walk there.

Rikki - you sound like you have a BUSY day ahead!! Hope you get it all done!
Schmoodle - glad to see you back.
Gonnabe - take care of that foot!
Anyone heard from Nessa?

Hello to everyone else. Gotta run to pick up DD from preschool. See ya later!

rdw1 11-10-2008 11:30 AM

Jenski- thats awesome about no adult gifts, honestly, its nice to get gift cards but silly when you are shelling out the same you get in return when why not just have the dough?!!! lol. I talked to dh about gifts last night again, we usually get a gift for each other then lots for his family- we were on a budget last year with trying to buy a house and all and looks like were on a budget again this year with work being so slow... so I think we have decided on baking for everyone again... Mostly we can just send out one big package and everyone gets a tin from there! (Luckily most of dh's family works in the family business so one shipment is all that is needed, with many individual tins of course!) Then there are friends(8 of us all together) who we usually do a dirty santa giving with that is always fun- $10 gift from each of us that can be given to a man or woman then we open one at a time and decide if we wanna steal someone elses gift instead! Giving to the kids is always fun but the older you get and trying to buy for someone who if they want something will get it for themselves is hard! OK, now my mind is spinning CHristmas thoughts again :) I can't wait!

WOW Kim- 80%! Thats awesome and congrats on all of your goodies too!

Jenskihere 11-10-2008 11:47 AM

Rikki - it seemed like we could come up with a valid reason to several of the adults in the family. His mom hasn't been working much because of an injury, they don't have the money, just buy the grandkids a small gift if you feel it necessary and leave it at that. We don't need anything. Same goes for my side of the family. We can all tighten the belt a little and save money this Christmas. And most of us, if we really want something, we save for it and get it. We don't wait for holidays anymore. We wanted to go back to what the holdiays stand for, and that should be family and traditions. DH and I have gone back and forth for several years now and buying gifts for each other. Sometimes we do and other times we don't. We have started getting a babysitter, going to a nice dinner and show, hopefully this year we'll do that again, I want to see Jersery Boys!!

rdw1 11-10-2008 11:57 AM

Sounds like fun Jenski, and I wish more people would do that sort of thing, go back to the "true" meaning of Christmas! I just found out some relatives who I haven't seen in a while will be coming to Thanksgiving this year, they haven't done that in a while I think mainly because of family spats and whatnot, so glad to be bringing everyone together for the holidays again!!! Nice to have lots of family around! Ours is very small so it will be only 6 of us related and more friends! LOL

Jenskihere 11-10-2008 03:20 PM

Rikki - how is your HUGE to-list going??

tomandkara 11-10-2008 03:26 PM

Happy Monday all!

I had a good day of eating. Of course it was - started off with crockpot steel cut oats! They're our favorite. No stumbles, which makes me feel all strong and powerful.

Tomorrow is St. Martin's Day so there will be a big parade and village gathering in the evening. Both of the school-age kids have been preparing for weeks, learning songs and making lanterns at school, so they're really excited. I can't wait! I'll try to get some pictures but I don't know if I'll be able to get any good ones since all the festivities will be outside after dark. It's convenient that it happens to fall on Veteran's Day because all of Connor's extracurriculars on base are cancelled, so we're freed up for the party.

I'm pooped so I am heading to bed. Hope you all have a great day!

Welcome to our new member!

Kara

To do list is getting there! I almost have the laundry completely done including the bedding-yeay! Off to go get the bathrooms done now, I got the kitchen cleaned and another load of dishes is going now, I made some hummus and that used quite a few dishes! lol turned out a little more runny than usual, I got carried away with the leftover liquid I suppose... oh well, still tastes pretty good and after being refrigerated it will be a bit thicker. Pintos are still going, I think I may be in need of a better crock pot... Mine seems to cook how it should on low when its set to high:shrug: who knows!

weezle 11-10-2008 03:54 PM

Afternoon everyone! Home again, home again.... sigh. Dr. tested me for pertussis today, and so I'm home again. Getting me an antibiotic too (I loathe antibiotics) so I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

Ooh, cottage, I love my Refried Bean Soup too! I kind of forgot about that since I live with a man who, apparently, doesn't ever have gas. I stopped making it just over a year ago. That sounds awesome right about now though. I bet the rotel would clear my little head right up! Going to try making Rachael Ray's "Salsa Stoup" here in awhile. Maybe that'll do it for me too.

I really don't know what I should be doing. Empty house, feeling alright minus this cough but I'm about to take some codeine cough syrup..... Guess I'll make a pot of soup and chillllllllll.

Hope those who are sickie and hurt get to feeling better! I'm sure I'll be checking in often today and tomorrow, since I get so lonely. Have a great afternoon girlies!

Lisa
