Default Strawberry granola parfait - yikes!

Met a friend for coffee at Cosi this morning and wanted a snack. I just started Phase 2 on Sunday and so I was looking for something healthy. I got the Strawberry granola parfait (prior to SB I probably would have gotten the chocolate muffin....) and it tasted soooo good. Too good!

So I checked the nutritional info online, and sure enough it has 102 carbs!?!? What the heck is in it that would have that many carbs?

I only ate 1/2 of it, and I didn't have huge sugar cravings for the rest of the day, so I think I'm ok for now, but I guess I won't be getting that too often!

the granola, the yogurt and the strawberries all have carbs. Even things that aren't bread and pasta have carbs.

Remember that SB isn't about counting carbs, it is about eating the right kind of carbs. The granola probably had sugar in it, the strawberries may have been sweetened and the yogurt - if a vanilla flavor - was probably sugar or HFCS sweetened.

Did the nutritional info list any ingredients? Or sugar counts? Watching these are more important than watching the carb count.

Yogurt and granola and strawberries obviously have carbs, but that sky high number is surely sugar. Was it big?

Low fat vanilla yogurt, strawberries, granola. Nothing more specific than that.

Guess I need to be more careful when eating out - lesson learned! Glad at least I didn't go nuts over the sugar! Thanks for the info.

it's probably got a really high sugar content, too. that would up the carbs.

I make my own with mostly equal parts Greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, banana, and granola. I used to use 1/2c each for breakfast, and that's pretty big. Now I do 1/4c each for a morning snack. The banana I actually just use half or quarter of a whole one, rather than 1/2c or 1/4c (unless I already have it diced & frozen). I don't find any need to add sugar. In fact, the granola tastes too sweet, I'd be happier with a lower sugar granola. I have this often, and it is always such a treat, I can't believe it's health food .
