Witchy Weekend Chick Chat
And a Good Saturday Morning to all of you! I wanted to use this weekend as our Halloween weekend, since by next Saturday, Halloween will be "the day after." :witch: There seem to be a lot of parties scheduled over the weekend, anyway. :)
It's going to be wet, wet, wet, here. We're going out for breakfast and then doing a bit of shopping, and the remainder of the day will be spent curled up on the couch reading and dozing. :cloud9: I've been wanting to do just that for a long, long time, and today provides the perfect opportunity. What'r your plans for this day? :cofdate: |
Ugh, I wish I could just spend the day reading and enjoying life.
We had to drop my son off at school this morning at 4am for a band competition he is going out of town for. I work all day, then we pick him up around 1am again. Long day for me. I think we're going to skip church Sunday. We went last night, though, so it made up for it. Next weekend, I get a mini vacation to the coast for a work-related conference, so I'm looking forward to that. One week to go... |
Happy weekend, Chickies! Back later to catch up.
|
((Ruth,))) so nice to see you drop in!!!!! How are you holding up?
Cottage, I also need to go shopping today, other than that, this house is crying "clean me, your neglecting me!"... Tomorrow I hope to curl on couch with the Bible and a book I'm reading. Hi Noemi, my niece's name is Naomi ;). UGH< you can keep that schedule! Not for me! But then again, I've been getting up each night to let puppy outside! Speaking of puppy, when we went for a walk last night we didn't get too far when a neighbor stopped us and invited us into her yard to let the dogs frolic with her dog! Puppy decided the two of them were too much for him so he was content to stay near me and chase the leaves as they fell or blew around! Tired both of them out good! |
Hi all! Busy busy here. We're going to paint our bedroom today. Fun fun fun!!!
Doing well on the veggies. Now I need to think up a new goal for next week. Kara |
Good morning Chicks :coffee2:
Quick check-in as I'm trying to get to the Farmer's Market before the nasty storm hits. Heavy rain and high wind warnings this afternoon - not fun when you live in the country. I really hope the power holds up. Cottage - I love your afternoon plan! I may have to borrow the idea this afternoon. Ohana - I love the coast, it's so relaxing and peaceful this time of year. What a nice thing to look forward to :) Ruth  We miss you Loriann - I love your puppy stories :) Kara - Small goals are such a great idea. I may have to borrow that one too. Have fun painting. Just another day of errands and cooking and cleaning, what an exciting life I lead ;) DP is doing pretty well - she's comfortable and definitely in less pain so everyone is sleeping better. The nut free Nessa bars I made for DD turned out great. Hope she thinks so too because I think they weigh a lot! Okay, I'll be back later if the power and cable stay on. Have a good weekend day! |
Cyndi, right now I'm asking what? This big ole house and puppy is UNDER my chair, Jade is next to it and they are rough housing!!!!!!!! UM, take it to the living room will ya guys????????????
|
Cottage - the day you have planned sounds absolutely divine. Enjoy yourself.
Ohana - I don't think we've met. Welcome! Enjoy your day. Morning, Ruthie! Morning, Lori! How are all your new animals getting along? Kara - we have painting to do as well...fun, indeed. :) Cyndi - Did you see the post I directed towards you late last night in yesterday's chat? It was about making yogurt in the crock pot...sounds just up your alley ;) Have a great day, pretty lady! - Today we need to go pick up some random stuff from our old house - we accidentally left some wine glasses in a cabinet. We're having friends over tonight around 9. I promised them I would make cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon - Men! :dizzy: I would also like to arrange the nursery as right now it is just a catch all for everything we don't know what to do with. A quick once over with a dust rag and the vacuum cleaner and I should be good to go. Have a nice day, ladies! |
Zeff, I only have one new animal, Cody, 12 week old Golden Retriever... full name to be registered Sire Cody Gurnall Walkington...
I found the meaning of Cody and said, "YUP" besides, I do like the name, even if it is number 7 most popular male dog names  ... here's what I found... Cody - great dog name. Associated with dogs that are gentle and mild-mannered. They are eager to please and want to be loved. Most codys are huggable. Origin: English. Meaning: Reassuring. :) :) Zeff, How's the new house coming? OH NESSA SWEETIE, WHERE ARE YOU?? PLS CHECK IN WITH US!!!!!!!!!! |
Did you get rid of your kitty?
The new house is great. So open! DS is LOVING the extra space and the windows are perfectly arranged to allow for a lot of cross winds when we have them open. It's nice to have the fall breezes flowing through the house. I did some "allergen-reduction" yesterday for DH....he woke up this morning and said that last night was the first night in a LONG time that he didn't have allergy problems.I guess new pillows with allergen covers and allergen covers on the mattress (after cleaning it with the Dyson) really helped! I've been running the a/c fan with a new Filtrete filter as well to help clean the air. A dog or two lived here previously and there was a LOT of stray dog hair on the floors - in the corners and cracks. The house feels so much cleaner since it is all gone! -- ETA: Does anybody know if Lowe's or Home Depot will cut pieces of plywood if I buy it there? DS needs a new support in his car bed. |
Zeff, unfortunately the week I had the kitty I woke up and couldn't breathe, my eyes were closed shut, broke out with rash, I HAD to get rid of her... I was saddened, and pissed, I spent well over 200 for her and supplies, vet visit! OH well....
Hey, as far as your bedding, I vacuum mine as well, And as I'm washing the sheets I spray the mattress and pillows down with water that has just a touch of bleach in it! You'd be surprised at what that does when you hit your head against the pillows that first night! Not to mention allergies!!!!!!!! Glad your enjoying the house. Jade's mad at me right now..... I gave her a bath. she's such a good girl, I was in the kitchen, and I told her, "Jade, bath" and she went into the bath tub and waited for me to show up and do what I needed to do. SUCH a great girl she is!!!!!!!!!! (but oh how she hates water, especially bathes!, I can't even get her to frolic in the water anywhere, lake, pond, falls,)... |
We need to give kitty a bath...joy joy joy. It is amazing just how much like jello a 30 pound cat can become. It is like he removes his bones from his body just to slide out of our grasp. Bathing him is definitely a two person job. DH holds and I scrub frantically.
|
ZEFF!!!!!! NO!!!!!!! Why give kitty bath unless it has fleas? I swear, when I first got Gideon (my first, cat) I gave him bathes, then found out it's the worst thing for him! Cats by nature are clean and usually all they do all day long is bathe themselves! I stopped giving him bathes and he was fine for oh, 11 years (*first two years he got them, before I found out it's not a good thing to do). the only time is if it gets fleas, which I got lucky with my cats, never had that problem!
So why torture kitty or yourselves????? Please research it! Edit, I've even had to stop giving Jade so many bathes. I found out too many bathes for a lab can lead to skin problems. I used to give her a bath every other month, now it's more like every four months. (I like her nice and soft, forced myself to deal with the feel of a dog for a month or more before bathing her today). |
Morning!
Jessie, hope we don't see you today! :D And of course I'll share Tom. He's happy rubbing anyone female. Tom's mom asked us to go to dinner last night (woof) so needless to say, we didn't make it to the Y. Going this morning though. Gotta meet my dad in 35 minutes at the bank. Parents cleaned out their safety deposit box and found $550 in matured savings bonds that were purchased for me before I was born. HOT DIGGITY DAFFODIL! Cha-CHING!!!! But we'll go to the Y right after. Ruth, my prayers are still with you. Gotta get changed and scoot. Have a good day chickies! I'll check back later. Lisa |
Good morning ,
zeff - Home Depot and Lowe's provide a cutting service, DH does it all the time. cottage - the weekend here is suppose to be dull and rainy too. I have to do something else besides read. I will start making some Christmas presents. Cyndi - glad to hear that things are settling in on the home front. Noamie - Sounds like a busy day take a few minutes to smell the roses. Kara - I am sure you will find a new goal for the coming week. You sound so organized. Ruth - Thinking of you Lorainn - All this puppy talk makes me miss my goldie, she was the best but no dog in our future DH won't relent on that. Me - Some shopping and cleaning and then I want to reknot a pearl necklace for my DD that was my MIL and give it to her for Christmas. Everyone enjoy your weekend before the hectic season begins. Sophie who will put on her glasses next time. They are upstairs in my bedroom. p.s. those nessa bars are delicious. |
weezle - those bonds will make for a happy weekend.

Morning ladies! Quick check in this morning as I'm at the USO. Yesterday was a terrible day for food. I was all over the place, and the scale certainly showed how hard I didn't work. To today is all about staying clean on the program. After My shift at the USO I plan on cleaning the house, which is a wreck and then I'm going out with a dear friend for hopefully dinner & a movie while our DH's go to a haunted house. So that's it for now. I hope you all have a great Saturday!!!
ENJOY!!!! |
Whoa- I am late! No time for this many personals right now, hopefully will get back to it later!
I am just about to start my "clean sweep" of the house. I was called off work to day so I figure that I will spend at least 4 hours heavy duty cleaning!(Throwing things I don't need out or getting them ready to sell!) I have been sooo clow at work and getting time off and I have *tons* of clothes most with tags still attached that I figure maybe could be supplemental income on Ebay :) lol SO, I am 1 cup of coffee down, feeling good and ready to begin! Catch up with you ladies later! Also on the agenda today is going to goodwill to see if I can find DH a gray suit-So he can be peewee for Halloween- LMAO |
Would you believe I'm still in my robe and have not even washed my face!
My friend Ernie arrived shortly after I posted and we sat and drank coffee for a while and discussed the world financial crisis. Then my sister called to try and take over the whole funeral feast thing! Joan is the world's most efficient organizer. I am allowing her to bring a veggie tray, do a reading and bring me napkins and a centrepiece for the table. Being Joan she had to know what colour of dishes I was using. Then I finally tracked down the sender of a lovely flower arrangement. Do you know I have nine "Lindas" in my email addy list? Just got a call from the local grocery asking what they could do. I told them a fruit platter would be lovely. I cannot believe all the support from real people and my online sweeties! Now I MUST hop into the shower and get dressed. This is way too slothful! |
Ruth, I'm so glad you have a lot of support you do!
|
Lori - Our kitty is a Maine Coon. His vet recommended bathing him every month to help him rid his coat of dead fur. It helps IMMENSELY with his hairballs. He used to toss his cookies (sorry, tmi) every other day or so, now...maybe once a month if that. He gets a coating of kitty conditioner after his baths and takes a fatty acid supplement to combat dry skin.
- Laundry. Does it ever end? Also, google hasn't been an answer to me. Is vinegar harmful to houseplants? It is a 5:1 (water:vinegar) combination. |
zeff- are you watering your plants with vinegar?! lol
|

Oh yeah, you're supposed to water houseplants. No wonder mine look like that...
I have given in and joined Facebook, though I have nothing on my page yet. PM me if you're really bored and want me to add you as a friend :) *and for those who have been following the bread adventures - this week I used 1 cup of pumpkin in place of the oil and about half the water. I was a little worried doing that to our bread for the week but it is quite yummy. |

Cyndi, you wanted pic... I have not had a chance to fix camera, here is one that looks just like Cody! same coloring and all!
|
Okay, now I have puppy envy :)
|
was funny, I brought him to local pet store for some food and collar (one he has is too small now)... and everyone was loving on him, poor Jade felt left out, but folks said hi to her....
When I walked in everyone was asking if I'd gotten him at the store, I said no, from breeder. When I got to the puppys they had some goldens... I've NEVER seen goldens in that store before. And whats more, the customers were loving Cody better than the ones for sale! poor cody, had his second car ride today, and the entire time laid on the back seat with his head between Jade's but and the corner of the seat where the back meets the bottom where he was sitting! I've got to get him used to the car! Cause Jade and I love to go "bye bye" to the park, lake (where we went today) and what not! Poor thing is timid to new things.... |
OK, so my dad and I went to the bank to cash in my savings bonds..... turns out, they gain some interest, apparently. I came home with $1255.00. :yikes: I can't believe it! God surely does bless. Now Christmas is paid for and we can start planning for our new living room set!
Going to make some tea and finish watching Ghostbusters II. Have a good night! Lisa |
Wow, I can't keep up with all the information on these threads.
Zeff- It's nice to meet you too! I'm sure I'll be here a while because I have a lot to lose :) Ruth- So glad you have support nearby. Lori- Your puppy sounds so sweet. I love the puppy stages. Nice when it's over, too. But I just love their silly faces. My 2 are a very prissy Chihuahua named Chai (like the tea) who thinks she's a cat and a goofy Yorkie named Jersey (of course). |
Weezle- W00t w00t!!! Thats awesome, and I am so one to always say- everything will work out. Seems everytime I am down and out something will happen to brighten my outlook! Nice to happen around the holidays! :)
|
Rikki - no....I was washing windows and didn't want to kill the houseplants below it....or, should I say DH was washing windows ;)
Cottage - thanks! Just mix it up and pour it on? Cyndi - You're telling me :dizzy: Thankfully DS really likes to water plants or they would never get the water they need. Weezle - congrats! - I just made 100 cream cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapenos for the many men that have invaded my house. My fingers are on fire. They are cranky men too because the ppv that they ordered is really distorted. Thankfully I called the cable co. and had it credited - free crappy ppv is better than $50 crappy ppv. ;) Off to soak my fingers in milk. oww. |
I figured it was something like that(windows)
When I used to eat meat I used to love those!!! Hope your fingers lose the heat soon ;) |
 :coffee: Good morning. I woke up this morning with Jessie on my mind. I wonder how's she's doing, whether she's had her baby yet?
We're going to try to get the leaves raked this afternoon, the winds we had yesterday brought a lot of them down. Too bad they weren't all blown out of the yard. ;) After taking a day off yesterday, today I have the laundry and lots of cooking for the week ahead. I'm going to make my butternut lasagna for today's supper for myself, and stuffed shells for the rest of the family. I just love that butternut lasagna, I'd rather have that instead of the real thing! How about them PHILLIES! :) |
Good Sunday Morning! Missed you all yesterday, sure wasn't for a lack of time, I was up at 4 am unable to sleep so I read for awhile. DD lost a hard fought Volleyball Tournament so we are done with that. Her pictures went well, no rain, a little chilly but after 3 hours I think we got some good options.
Today, I have no idea, this time next week we are supposed to be moved and I am trying very hard not to freak out because the guy doesn't have the house ready yet. Now we are down to the wire and to make things even better I have to attend classes Tues, Weds and Thurs this week in Indianapolis with my boss. Someone please just wake me when this week is over! Lisa yeah on the money, what a welcome suprise I am sure! Hope you all have a peacful Sunday! |
Up at a normal hour this morning and about to soak in the tub a bit. Church isn't until 10:30 which is a break. Today will feel strange as Sunday has been nursing home day for years but I'm sure I'll rise above it. I plan to bake a rum cake for the funeral lunch and will be going to my sister's for dinner.
Have a happy and healthy Sunday, Beachies. |
Good morning all. Cottage, rained all day yesterday, I'm waiting to mulch those leaves! I'm hoping to get a walk in before it rains...
((Pacer)), you'll get through it even though right now it seems impossible! ((Ruth,)).... you can come visit me!!!!!!! And meet the new pup! puppy woke me up at seven and when I let him out of his crate he immediately went to the back door and scratched!!! Last night he went to the back door so I let him out and yup, he did his business! This one is too easy to train! The two of them just had a good half hour rough housing with their tales wagging! Jade just loves her new pet... My sister says I'm nuts cause I told her I got my dog a pet! Although I know by now some of you think I'll get rid of puppy as I did last dog (at the time we weren't allowed two) and kitty (due to allergies). I'm not one to go through animals like that! I had my cats well over 15 years! One was 19 the other 17! Anyway, Cody's a great choice for our home! Today, hoping the rain holds off so I can mow the lawn! Otherwise I might have to mow after work some night and that wouldn't be fun in the dark! Today I'm planning on making a beef stew Ruth posted in the recipe forum! I got the beef, the sweet potatos, onions and green beens! I also picked up the package of beans for 16 bean soup but forgot the ham so I'll wait till next week to make that! I will need to find a recipe for chicken casserole to make up this week. |
Good morning :coffee2: The coffee rotation is back to Fogbuster which always makes me happy.
Cottage - I should rake but not sure I'm that motivated. We mow a lot of our leaves and use them as mulch for the gardens. I'm going to have to find that recipe. All of a sudden I love butternut squash! Pacer - Good luck with the move! Hope it breezes by. Ruth - :hug:Tell Disney to take good care of you Loriann - Hope you get your walk in! I'm so happy to have a day to walk outside. I'm already sick of the treadmill. Puppy sounds like quite a find :) So I'm thinking about taking it easy today. I, of course, have a list, but am thinking I might actually have earned a relaxing day instead. I'm going to see what really needs to be done. I know I need more refried beans, but that's easy, and another set of apple rings and some vacuuming and laundry. I could pass on more cooking though. I want to get outside for a nice long walk and play with my Facebook a little. What's on your list this fall day? |
Morning all!
Boy, but I miss checking in every day! I hate just poking my head once a week. But the gym is worth it and I feel a lot better now when I go to work in the mornings. School has been a real challange lately. I now have all of the "inclusion" kids in my room. Some with major problems. But you just do the best you can for everyone and go day by day, right? Friday, one of the kids came to school without having had his meds that morning. He stuffed about 4 yellow crayons in his mouth and was chewing away with yellow "stuff' coming out of his mouth, then later ate some plastic money we were counting with. Oh, yea, a challange indeed! Come on Thanksgiving holidays! My oldest son rented a bobcat for the weekend and has been moving a sand pile all around filling in low spots and covering the "pond" he made this summer that is draining water that gets under our house. He is going to try to dig up a huge privet and an azalea that I hate. He got the thing stuck in mud a few times yesterday and my yard looks like it's been through a bombing. But like he said, it will have to look bad so it can look better. sigh. I need to go head to the store to stock up on food and plan meals for the week. Not doing a whole lot of cooking these days since it's just my husband and I eating now and I'm exhuasted when I get home from school. |
Hello Cat  Missed you! Sounds like quite a place you are working in. I hope there is enough rewarding to balance the challenging. Wishing you a lovely, mellow day off.
|
Hiya Cottage-

Pacer- hope everything goes smoothly with your move- Some people just work better under pressure :) Maybe thats the case-either way I am sure everything will be fine! Ruth- Enjoy your bath Loriann- Glad the new pup is a fit, sounds like a good one! Cat- Bless you for working with your challeneged children! and I've missed you around here! I *hate* the mid process of most refinishing/redoing projects anywhere around the house- until I can see the light at the end of the tunnel I am a ball of nerves, something about anything looking like a disaster just stresses me out! But as soon as I start to see how things are finally shaping into something I am good! Cyndi- I think you deserve to take it easy today too! Seems like you are always on the go! Enjoy your walk! For me, I am getting ready to run to whole foods, joannes, and home depot... My mom and dad are coming up this morning and we are going to those stores and out to lunch as well as me cutting their hair... Neither one can seem to get a consistent haircut since I moved so I suggested we just make it an every 6-8 week thing that they can come up and we'll do their hair and have lunch/dinner. Oh, and they are taking us to olive garden, I am on p1... salad for me I suppose... I was wondering if I could pick the pasta out of their minestrone soup and it be legal... I definitely don't wanna screw it up since I am actually down a few lbs this week! I think I am finally getting it. Calorie King has been a big help. If I see I have had too much all day no heavy snacks at night. anywho- I am babbling now... Off to get ready! I love going to whole foods- I try to go once every couple weeks to get all my tofu(they have super cheap store brand organic tofu), and lots of my veggie meats. I have been thinking about thanksgiving meal ideas as well, I was thinking I was going to allow myself to cheat that day, but now I am thinking-nope, not anymore! I am going to start a thread :) *lightbulb goes on* |
