Default Wild and Windy Wednesday

It's windy and cold! Jake set the trash out on the curb last night, I hope it's still there and not all over the cul-de-sac!

After Curves, I'm going over to Cindy's to help her clean. They're doing some renovations and the guys cut a whole in the wall for a new window upstairs, and now there's a fine layer of dust over everything. They had even taped up a tarp over the opening before cutting the hole, but the dust managed to sift through. So that'll keep me busy all morning. This afternoon the girls have gymnastics, and I'm looking forward to a nice hour to myself with a SF latte and a magazine.

We had windy and cold yesterday, Cottage. All the leaves are now off the trees so I can't put off raking much longer - especially with snow on the way per the weather guy. I am going to try hard not to weather whine this year but it's going to be hard. So silly because I have warm clothes, a cozy house and food and should think of the street people.

My car and I are off to get an oil change at 7:30. She also needs a new muffler, I think. I completely trust my garage guy to tell me what I need. That's one of the great advantages of living in a rural area - people have to be honest or word gets around.

After that, the day is mine again although I do have to deal with Revenue Canada who think I owe them over $4K! I filed online and couldn't send them receipts and forms for Harry's "incarceration" but have everything ready now. I hope straightening this out is as easy as I think - and hope.

Hope your Hump Day isn't too wild and windy!

Good morning Chicks

Cottage - Enjoy your hour of solitude

Ruth - I may whine enough for both of us. I'm already missing my daily walks and bike rides Good luck with the tax folks. Let me know if they give you a hard time and I'll come up there and straighten them out

Well I ended up leaving work mid-day yesterday again. They wanted DP to come in for another test. I'm really hoping to get one full day in the office this week so I can get a few things done.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'm off to find a warm, snuggly sweater

Linda, good luck with the cleaning. I love to dust! Wish I was back east still! Well, west from here, but still...

Ruth, hope the tax people are nice. I'm sure they'll understand! We just had to file a damage claim because some of our things got decimated in the move and the claims company actually gave us a very fair settlement. We have always heard how difficult the process is, so this was a nice surprise. Hope yours goes as well!

Cyndi, sweaters are the best part of cool weather!

I'm 2/3 of the way to my third dancing carrot! Tonight is going to be vegetable soup and grilled cheese as we've got a busy evening. Off to get some work done with the kids!

Good morning chicks. Hump Day! Today is busy as usual. I meet with DD's teacher for a conference (just the normal one, not a problem issue). I have to run errands on my lunch hour, and the evenings are chock full of homework these days. I also have my Parks & Rec meeting tonight. Last night DD and I made 30 "Vote 4 Gabbie" bookmarks to hand out today. They turned out really cute. Tonight she wants to put flags on glo-sticks (which I happen to have 100 of lying around, long story). I have managed to talk her out of cookies unless she makes it to the general election - this is just primaries.

Congrats on breaking your plateau Pearlrose!
Grilled cheese and veggie soup sound good Kara! I think you are the first person I've ever heard say that they LIKE to dust.
Oooh, nobody mess with Cyndi today!
Ruth, my leaves are all blowing down too. I was hoping to save all the raking for DH, but since he won't be home for at least another 3 weeks, I don't think I'll make it. Maybe they will all blow into the neighbor's yard.
I hate that drywall dust cottage, it's so hard to get cleaned up. Enjoy your latte and me time!

It sure is windy! It was awful yesterday--on several occasions, I opened my car door only to have it slam back on me. Yikes! Hope it "blows over" soon!

The latte and magazine sounds fun, Cottage! Awful about the dust...you'd think the guys who are doing the reno would clean...but maybe Cindy doesn't want that?

that you get things resolved quickly, Ruth! Thanks for the reminder that we have so much to be thankful for. My friend Ange in college was whining about her upcoming finals and one of her profs said, "Some people wish they had your problems." It's true, isn't it? Hope you get someone to do the raking if it's hard on your body. Take care of yourself, chickie!

The sweater sounds great, Cyndi! Hope DP is okay. I'm already trying to find something DH and I can do together for exercise on the weekend now that bike rides are pretty much out.

Love your goals, Kara. Very cool! Can't believe you love to dust! You're welcome at our house anytime...DH and I both hate to do it, so it doesn't get done!

:congrats: on the loss, Pearl!

Wow, Schmoo, sounds like your DD had a great chance of winning with all the work she's doing!

Me:
Went to see Mamma Mia (the musical, not the movie) at our local theater last night. They've spent the last year doing renovations to the very old vaudeville theater and have restored it to its 1925 appearance. Last night was the grand re-opening. It's GORGEOUS!!! I love that Art Nouveau look and it was so fun to see how beautiful it looked. The show was fantastic and by the end we were nearly dancing in the aisles. So fun! I'm sure I'll be singing the songs for the rest of the week...

One of the best parts was that one of the main roles was played by a "normal size" girl--perhaps she was even overweight, though considering the amount of dancing and singing she does in the show each night, I can't imagine that she'd keep anything over her norm for long! She was amazing and literally stole the show. It was really refreshing to see several people of color and a couple of people of a much more "normal" size in the cast.

Tonight is my mood and food group and I've got chicken and barley soup stewing in the crockpot right now so I can eat before I go. Just part of the "get-Laurie-in-bed-on-time" plan. Let's hope it works!

Have a great day, chicks! Hope you stay warm.

Morning Ladies. Brrrrrrrrrr! Got my hands wrapped around a cup of coffee to try and warm them!

Cottage I know it is too late now but someone once told me if you hang a damp sheet rather than plastic it traps the dust better.

Ruth good luck with the tax folks, doesn't sound like much fun!

Cyndi here's hoping a full day of work is in store for you!

Kara saw your post from yesterday, do your kids have Another Monster at The End of This Book, it features both Grover and Elmo! LOL

Pearl enjoy your wfh day!

Schmoodle you sound very busy since returning, hope you are taking time for yourself.

Had a good but quick shopping trip with DD yesterday, she did well! 4 shirts and a jacket for under $50. Can't complain there!

Today is just work and then the laundry hamper is over flowing, cold weather clothes pile up faster than summer clothes!

Have a great day chicks!

Good morning all!! Happy Wednesday!!!
Cottage - Enjoy your time with the latte & magazine. How nice to set aside time to read.

Ruth - Good luck with the car and taxes. Sounds like a whole lot of not fun!

Cyndi - I hope DP is feeling better and more relaxed. I hope you're able to get all your work done this week so you're not stressed over that as well,.

Kara - Great job on getting those veggies in. Can't wait to see another carrot!!!

Pearlrose - Congrats on the weight loss. You've worked so hard, you've earned it!!!! Keep it up!

Schmoodle - I hope all goes well with DD today. Sounds like the bookmarkers turned out ok. Good job!

Gonnabe - Have fun getting the rest of your decorations up. Got to love fall!!

Laurie - Sounds like the show was a lot of fun! And good for them getting "normal" people. Good luck getting to bed in time tonight!

Stephanie - 4 shirts & a jacket for under $50.....that's FANTASTIC!!! Have fun tackling the laundry!

Zeff - Hope you come back soon.....what's up?!?!?

Me - The scale had a very nice number this morning. We'll see if it sticks tomorrow for my weekly weigh in. Work was much better yesterday. Got some office work accomplished which was really nice. Today shouldn't be too bad either. Watched Biggest Looser last night, and I'm not too happy with a couple of the contestants. They're so not nice. It's supposed to be a show that encourages, but I feel like there's a few of them who are just mean.....and when they get skinny, they'll be skinny & mean. And Lord knows we don't need any more of those people in the world Not much else going on. Hope all is well!!
Have a great day, everyone!!!
Blessings!!!

Yikes!!! Breezy and cold! It's coming. I do love the period of time between Halloween and New Years, but I just absolutely hate the cold.

Still no word about the job. Should know soon, I hope.

After trying to figure out what to do with my old beater, since I got Grandma's car when she passed, I heard an advertisement on the radio for Salvation Army, saying that when you donate a car, they pick it up and haul it away for you no matter what condition it's in and give you a receipt for your taxes. Talk about an answer to my prayers! So they're coming to get her at 10:00 this morning. I called and cancelled my insurance on her yesterday so we're saving like $68/month! Must cost more to insure old beaters than newer cars that aren't as likely to explode, since our 2006, 2001, and renter's insurance all come to $98/month now, combined.

I'm loving that Tom's back in school for massage therapy!!!!! He practiced last night. I'm his guinea pig and give him input about draping, pressure, etc. (For example: um, my boob is falling out, and getting cold, at that.) But he's trying to get all of that down and get a routine so it's second nature to him. He's very good at sneaking the lotion without you realizing it, better at draping than he was at the beginning of the massage, and the pressure is awesome. He got my back almost done and then was like "Ah. I messed up. Gotta start over."

Oh, darn.

And this morning, I feel FANTASTIC. Slept better (minus getting up to pee at 1:30) than I have in months. Sipping my Irish Breakfast Tea and about to have a muffin before I get in the shower. Salvation Army is here at 10 so I'd better get a move on!

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!

PS Zeff, hope everything's alright. We'll miss you!
