Default TGIF Daily Chick Chat

It's finally Friday, and it looks to be a delightful day shaping up for us!

I'm taking my GD, Amber, to work with me today. She and the girls haven't seen each other since school started up, and are very excited about today. We're going to spend the morning at the orchard, going on a hayride and picking apples. There's a nice petting zoo there, too, and a playground, so there's plenty to do. If there's time later, the girls want to make apple pies.

I wanted to spend the weekend at Monica's and go see Candide, but I have to get my car taken care of, so it's looking to be a quiet weekend at home.

Good morning Cottage
Sounds like you have a busy and fun day ahead I used to love making dutch apple pie & apple cranberry pie. Yum!

I've got a hectic day ahead. I'm leaving for my parents this morning and have about a million things I'd like to get done before that. This isn't the time of year I should have planned a weekend away but with my brother's move I didn't want to wait too long between visits. At least I'll be going opposite most of the traffic this weekend. It's a huge weekend for leaf peepers around here.

Zeffryn - Good luck with the packing and moving!

Ruth - Happy Thanksgiving weekend

Loriann - I figured out last time that you're about 90 minutes further than my parents The farthest I ever go is just outside of Syracuse and even that is just during the holidays to pick up my daughter from her other grandparent's. Darn. Hope your aches are easing up.

Kim - It's nice to see you back in these parts

Heather - Hope DH is feeling better. Enjoy the dishwasher

I probably won't be back on until Sunday night (reallllllly slow dial-up there). Have a good weekend everyone!

Good morning, Cyndi! It's nice to share a cup of coffee before our busy days begin. Have a safe trip this weekend and enjoy your time with your parents. Enjoy the beautiful foliage along the way, too!

murphmitch, I missed your birthday yesterday, so here's a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!

Kim, it's great to see you back!

Weezle, how'd your interview go?

Sounds like a lovely Friday, Cottage! If your patience runs out, make apple crisp instead. I'm making one this afternoon for Saturday dinner.

CyndiM, nice to see you participating in Canadian Thanksgiving by visiting your parents. I'm sure there'll be tons of traffic - "Autumn in Vermont" - so be careful. Apple cranberry pie - Hmmm.

Gorgeous weekend ahead! Today is my marathon baking day and my kitchen looks like a crack house. Actually it's not that bad; I just left the baking supplies on the counters rather than put them away after my big shop yesterday. I was pretty tired after the trip to town so flopped on the couch for a nap with Disney for a good solid hour and took it easy last night.

So today will be baking and packaging, some Church decorating with the flowers and veggies left in the garden and an early bedtime to get ready for a big weekend.

Wishing everyone a good weekend and Happy Thanksgiving - we should be celebrating that all the time!

Cottage, enjoy the day with the girls!

Cyndi, enjoy the visit! One of these days we'll meet up!

Ruth, have fun baking! I'll be over tonight for dessert!

So DS finally called me this week, to ask to borrow money! (figures). He doesn't get his first paycheck till next week and needs to eat this coming week so of course mom will help! I'm going to do some searching for things for bachelors to make!

Beautiful day yesterday, got half the house washed. Today I might tear apart the shed, my son has a bad habit of throwing things in there and now it's a mess again! And he doesn't even live here!

Thanks for the warm welcome back!!

Cottage: A day with you at the orchard sounds like lots of fun! Mind if I tag along? Enjoy your day with all those girls today and save a slice of pie for me. That'll be my "cheat" for the week.

Cyndi: Leaf peeping sounds fun. DH and I want to go to the East Coast for fall one of these days. Enjoy your time with your parents and I hope you get everything done!

Ruth: You're right! We should be celebrating Thanksgiving every day! Maybe we should start a "thankful for" thread! I'm wondering if we should find some little elves to help with your baking and decorating today. Maybe the pool boy is available?

Loriann: I think sheds are men black-holes like closets are women's. Ours is in a state, but DH is getting a new 12x20' one early next year, so I'll just ignore it until then. Be careful cleaning and have a great day!

Me: Not much going on here today. I'm hoping I'll have a few free minutes at work to get a spreadsheet going for next week's meal plan. It's that time of year when I feel the need to plan everything out. That and I also really need to get back on track and stay there. I'm thinking about a week or two of P1, but I really need to think that through.

Tonight should be a somewhat busy night. We have plans for most of the day tomorrow, so I need to get some cleaning on laundry done tonight if I want to stay on top of things.

Well, I hope everyone to come has a great Friday! Here's some for those of us that need it!

~Kim

Happy Friday chicks! I'm sorry I have abandoned you lately. I have been so busy. We leave tommorrow for our trip. The kids are so excited, they couldn't get to sleep last night. I am too! It's DS's birthday while we are there, and I planned some special surprises for him. The kids haven't flown before (that they remember) and they don't really get this "packing light" thing. I usually travel alone for business, and I have a great carry-on bag. I never check luggage, and I can pack in 15 minutes. So far for this trip I have two big bags to check and two carry-ons, plus our personal bags for the plane. And I haven't even packed my mouse ears yet! Since it's just two kids and me, I hope I can manage in the airport. At least we are flying Southwest and they don't charge for bags. My to-do list for today is very scary, but I'll just concentrate on one thing at a time and get it done. I am working today, but since the government is off Monday, a lot of them will bail early and today should be pretty quiet.

Of course since we are about to go away, one of the hamsters decided to go AWOL. She figured out how to open the door on her cage, and I yelled at DD about not fastening the door after she got out twice before we realized she was doing it. I woke up with her in my room the other night with two cats following her around. As I was trying to catch her, she found the hole in the floor where the radiator pipes used to run (I didn't realize the plug had come out), and ducked in there and hasn't been seen since. I kinda think she won't be back and it's unsettling to leave a hamster on the loose in the walls and floors of the house, but ???? In case any of you are wondering, this is the same hamster that I took to the vet two weeks ago...

I cooked a bluefish filet for breakfast that my mom brought me - I wanted to use it up before I go, and now my whole kitchen is stinky. That's the bad thing about fishy fish (which I love). I think I'll light my candle, but I wonder how fishy pumpkin spice will smell.

You all behave while I'm away. I'll check in when I get back and will be ready to hit phase I full force!

Glad to see Kim back!
Good luck with moving zeff.
cottage, glad to see your Dad is doing well.
Have a fun trip Cyndi.
Late Happy Birthday murph!
Ruth, and our other Northern chicks, congrats on having the most stable banking system in the world right now. I think we are #40. Thinking of a move North sometime.

Morning ladies...

I've been a bit preoccupied with my adoption of Dallas but it was approved and the contract was faxed this morning. I am the proud almost owner of a 10 month old Landseer Newfoundland Puppy. He needs some work and he hates cars and is scared of people....not housebroken. oy.

I am driving to St. Louis MO next weekend to get him.

weight is stable. house is a mess... oy.

Kim, great to see you back posting. Thanks for starting the thanks thread. It's a great idea even if we just post tiny things.

Schmoodle, enjoy the Disney experience. I'd love to go along. Our banks may be stable but the rest of us are a bit twitchy!

Loriann, want me to do "the talk" with your son? It worked for mine.

Nessa, such excitement! I love Landseers. Sounds like you will be getting a good but challenging dog.

The oven is hot so I'm cranking up my day! See y'all later.

Good morning!

Wow, I need to log on earlier!

Cottage....mmmmm...apple pie! Your day sounds lovely. I have to make an apple pie for the girls' birthdays at work....

Cyndi - enjoy your trip. We got high speed in December...never had it before. I couldn't stand dial up anymore!

Ruth - a baking day sounds nice....wish I could join you!

Lori - my brother is almost 40, and STILL hits mom up for money. Sigh.

Kim - Hope you can enjoy your busy weekend!

Schmoodle - LOL. My husband hasn't figured out why trips are so. much. work. (he doesn't pack the kids!) My DD packed her own suitcase for our overnighter last weekend (she's 3.5)....SEVEN shirts!!! I tried to tell her no, then I figured, what does it matter? (we weren't going on a plane) Easier then debating which shirts to leave behind. Enjoy your trip!

Me - I had a HOT shower this morning...the landlord got the heater fixed quick, thank goodness!!

Today is my morning off...have a couple of appointments, and then, my husband bought me a Garmin 305!!!! YIPPPPPPEEEE!!! For those of you who don't know, it's a wrist GPS that lets you know your speed, distance, heart rate, etc. I can't wait to use it!!

Enjoy your Friday!

Nessa - Congrats on the new pup!! I spayed a 105# 8 mo old Newfie Wednesday, she's.....well.....not the sharpest tool in the shed. She drags her (older) owners EVERYWHERE. She bounced back a little TOO fast!!

Good morning! The interview, I feel, went really well, as far as interviews go. Just keep praying! I was one of three people waiting for their 4:00 interview for this position yesterday, and it was Day 2 of interviews, and they're still interviewing today, Monday, and Tuesday. Yeow. Even if they only had 3 interviews per interview hour (9, 10, 11, 2, 3, 4) there would be 90 people interviewing for this position. It seems completely awesome though, and perfect for me. They even wear jeans to work every day, working in their cubicles with their pictures everywhere, taking their lunches to work. I could SO handle that! Not to mention good pay and EXCELLENT benefits! Positive thinking and lots of prayers!!!!

Time to get ready for current work. Yak. Hope you girls have a great day!
