Default Thursday Happenings On the Beach

Good Thursday morning!

Looks like Fall is here, it's 47* and only supposed to get to the low 60s today. I'll have to start thinking of switching wardrobes soon.

Not too much is planned for today. I've been so busy all week that I've not had much time for anything. Cindy would like Maggie and I to bake several loaves of banana bread for their weekend trip, so I guess that's the plan for this afternoon. Back to the hospital to see Dad after work. He's making slight improvement, but still can't breathe without the oxygen. Poor Mom has been spending most of the day with him.

I have no idea what to make for supper tonight. I just can't think anymore!

Zeff, I'm glad you're getting things straightened out. Good luck on the moving.

Good morning Cottage I'm glad to hear your Dad is improving a little. It sounds like a good time for a crockpot dump - something warm, filling and nutritious with leftovers. I hope things keep looking up.

Ruth - How are your fingers?!

Another day at home here. DP is improving but still not on solid food. I've been able to get quite a bit of work done while making tea concoctions, running errands, and doing general household stuff. I'm hoping for some sun today so I can sneak off for a quick bike ride.

Only 2 more CSA pickups I am really going to miss fresh produce this year.

What does everyone have planned for this early fall day?

Fly by post as I need to leave for Ottawa in 45 minutes. My new alarm clock let me down! I have to drop Disney at doggie daycare and be in Ottawa for ten to meet with my $$$ advisor. I hope I have enough money left to bail D. out of daycare!

Haven't checked the weather but it's definitely Fall!

Cottage, glad your Dad is doing a bit better and hope your Mom can get some rest. So hard on Mamas!

Cyndi, Hope you can catch a break or two today too...you sound so busy and Ruth too. Hope Disney has fun at Daycare. Do they have room for 3 puppies today? They decided to eat my back door. It's a custom size french door which can't be replaced. Looks like I have some sanding and painting to do. Will put cayenne on it for a few days first!

Speaking of dogs...mine are horrendous with the barking. If someone comes to the door, they lose their minds. And the UPS guy and mail man...OMG. And if someone DARES to walk down our street..it's awful, annoying and embarrasing. We have tried everything...rocks in a can, "tricks" we've seen on tv dog shows etc. and nothing has worked. I ordered a "thing" the other day...looks like a garage door opener. It has a high pitched noise that we can't hear, but they can. I read mixed reviews about it, but it wasn't expensive so I went ahead and ordered it. It came in yesterday. We were sitting out on the patio and another dog was barking in the neighborhood, so 2 of ours rushed to the fence and started going nuts. I pointed the thing at them and clicked it and said "hush" and boy did it get their attention. It didn't hurt them or they would have yelped, but it stopped them in their tracks and they turned around and went inside. I think I'm gonna like this thing!

Kids have 1/2 day today at school and I have to stay till 4 for a reading workshop. My husband is coming by after he gets off today to put together a new computer desk I got for the classroom...then we are both off tomorrow. Really looking forward to that!

Good morning everyone,

Cottage- It is almost exact temperatures we are supposed to have today. That Banana bread sounds delish.

Cyndi- glad to hear that DP is improving.

Ruth- Hope you have a good meeting with your advisor.

Cat- Wow I am sure they can bark up a storm, I know how much our one can hehe

Today finally a wfh day for me so it should be quieter- Last night we had homecoming parade to go to and then the two olders kids went and did the activities at HS and we stayed home, which was nice.

Today nothing really on my plate other than work and doing some chores and laundry around here.

Have a great day everyone

Cottage glad to here your dad is improving

Cat hope you & your dh have a great friday off together

Ruth i too hope you have enough $$ - good luck

Welcome tmi! glad you joined us. The 8lb loss is more than likely water weight which is commom especially if you are in phase 1. This fast loss will slow - Good luck and keep posting.

Dh & I are going to the movies this evening so not much else on plan besides of course work.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning ALL!

Cottage, I'm glad I don't live nearby, I LOVE banana bread! Have fun making it!

Cyndi, sorry about DP still sick, hope his recover is quick.

Ruth, drive safely!

Femme! Sounds like you found a nice little toy! Just be sure to allow them to bark once! YOU DO want them to tell you when people approach, right?

Pearl, enjoy the day home!

TMI, what you've lost is more water weight than anything and it's normal, don't be alarmed. Also, when you move to P2 don't be alarmed the scale will NOT move that much! But enjoy the loss!

Me: Headed out this morning after coffee to do my shopping. I want to take Jade for a walk on the lake, which will mean bundling up in a coa as I know it will be cool. She loves to go to the lake, and does alright in the car while I'm shopping.

I did see 179 on the scale today! I hope I've finally figured things out!

DS stopped in yesterday and took the last AC out and put it to the road for me. It's gone this morning. (no surprise).

No job prospects right now. Half way through the unemployment. Enjoying my time off, and know something will come, in God's time.

Morning Ladies, another beautiful fall morning out there.

Cottage & Cyndi continued prayers for your family.

Ruth be careful out there.

Cat I am so happy my Reggie is not a barker. Him being a pug/beagle mix, I was a bit worried the beagle in him would come out but thankfully that is not the case. Hope your new toy gives you some peace.

Pearl, Gonna & Loriann Have a great day!

TMI Welcome! Keep up the good work.

Me TOM is here and yesterday I felt I could eat everything in sight. Lets hope today is a much better day in that area. I don't know why I bother with the scales during this lovely time. Just the usual today, work and DD has a Volleyball game tonight, followed by Survivor and the Debate.

Have a great day Ladies!

Yup, fall is definitely here. Pretty chilly today and I had to wear my fleece to work. But it's SOOOO gorgeous I don't mind. I think it's hilarious that Cindy orders bakery items from you and her daughter! You are a saint, Cottage. Hey, try this for dinner...I made it last night and not only was it totally delish, but super easy, too! The only thing you need to chop is onion and garlic...everything else is canned. Definitely include the pumpkin seeds, though...they make it. I'm sorry your dad isn't improving faster, but those things take time. I'm sure all the love he's getting is helping immensely!

Cyndi, I'm with you on the CSA...I'm really going to miss the produce a lot. Have you read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle? I'm thinking about how different it was in the winter for them when they were eating locally. I'm already missing strawberries, though we still have raspberries in our garden.

Have a safe trip, Ruthie! Hope Disney gets worn out in daycare so she lets you have a lie-in tomorrow morning! Good luck with the $$$ advisor.

Cat, that's GREAT! I hope it helps you a lot with the barking. We walk our dog down a street that has a lot of dogs (which helps us because she seems to only want to do her business where other dogs have been, leaving our yard out of possible business sites...) and they all bark like crazy as we pass. I feel bad for disturbing the families they live with, but I can't control it...so this will help you and the people in the 'hood, too. Sorry about the door. Our buns have ruined so many things in the house...we'll be fixing wood for weeks when we finally decide to move. Hope the door can be refinished and fixed.

Have a great day, Pearl!

tgimnemi! Yes, it's possible! I found that to be a great motivator to continuing the plan. Glad you like SBD and have joined in here! Have you posted an intro thread so we can get to know you better?

Gonna, have a great time at the movies! What will you see?

Loriann, the lake walk sounds fun for you both!

Me:
Tonight is the newcomers' party and I'm actually feeling really calm about it. I got a lot done last night and that feels good. I may even bake up a batch of those Sweet Potato Oatmeal bars (using pumpkin) for the smell and so I have something to eat (so far the things on the menu are brownies, banana bread and tortilla chips with artichoke cheese dip... ).

It's glorious fall and I got to snuggle with the husband and puppy last night. All feels right with the world in that space, you know?

Beachgal - yes, I've posted in the introductions forum. Everyone is so welcoming here!

By the way, my name is Terri

I did the SBD 3 years ago and lost 30 pounds in 6 months...but went off of it and gained them back (and then some), so this time around i'm going to do it right!

Cottage - I'm glad to hear that your Dad is improving. What a relief.

Cyndi - You must have loads of dried produce. There is something about fresh that just can't be replicated in the winter, though.

Ruth - new alarms are stressful. It always takes me awhile to trust them. Have fun with your money

Cat - those noise emitters are great! A very humane alternative to shock therapy.

Hi, Pearl!

Tmig- it's water..we all experience that on Phase 1...it's a nice side effect to the real purpose which is getting rid of your cravings for junk

Gonnabe - I'm envious of your movie date. Know what you're going to see?

Lori - Congrats on that scale moving, girl! Keep it up!

Stephanie - Good luck at the volleyball game tonight!

Laurie - I know exactly what you mean about the entire world feeling right in that little crook in DH's arm. I spent a LOT of time there yesterday.

--

Me: So, no more focusing on the identity theft thing. DH doesn't want me to stress out so much, so he told me to let the lawyer work and to just concentrate on the move....which is probably equally as stressful, but doesn't make me cry (much, anyway ) I've secured the moving truck and our friends to help, talked to a cleaning company about cleaning this place from top to bottom before our friends move in (I definitely don't feel like tackling that as this condo needs a good scrubbing too). Went through a closet last night and purged a TON of stuff we don't use but for some reason save. Bought a million rubbermaid totes to organize.

I posted this yesterday, not sure if anyone saw it.

Does anybody know of a place to buy inexpensive moving boxes? I've tried using liquor store and grocery boxes, but after finding roach eggs on a lot of boxes...I've decided not to use them anymore. I bought our last ones from Uhaul and they cost a pretty penny.

Zef - I don't know of any place that sells inexpensive moving boxes - sorry....it sucks, I know. My sister just moved to Texas from NJ and she paid through the nose for moving boxes...
