Started Phase 2

  • Hello All,

I finished phase one, it was a lot easier than I thought. I lost 8.5lbs in 14 days. I started phase 2 yesterday my scale is down another 1.5lbs today for a total of 11lbs. I can't believe the scale when I look at it in the morning. I'm one of those that likes to weigh everyday. I keeps me accountable. I know this big drop in the scale is water weight, but frankly I don't care if it's air. I'm just happy to see the decline!!!

I'm a little concerned about phase 2. (just a little) So here I am. My first day of phase 2, I ate the same as phase one just added fresh strawberries for an afternoon snack and 1/3 of a sweet potatoe with my dinner. DH made lemon garlic chicken on the BBQ, baked sweet potatoes and fresh steemed brocolli. I don't use butter on my veggies or sweet potatoes because I like them plain. He did use olive oil on the chicken.

My question is can I still eat my egg beater (costco brand) veggie omelette for breakfast? I use 1/4 cup egg beaters, and fresh veggies (spinach, asparagus, yellow bell pepper) sometimes 1/2 slice of part skim swiss cheese.

I'm going to check out trader joes\'s for brown rice, Albertson's doesn't carry any.

Thanks for listening. It's nice to be able to have some help.

  • Shan, most of us just add one new ingredient per week on Phase II, so I wouldn't add a fruit and sweet potato. One or the other would be better. Your breakfast is fine but I need to eat more than that. I usually eat a couple egg omelet to fill me up. 1/4 cup egg beaters sounds kind of skimpy.
  • Sure....why wouldn't you be able to have it?
  • I wasn't sure if I was supposed to add a grain for breakfast. Like high fiber cereal or oatmeal.

I've always eaten the egg beater omlette for breakfast, it's just easy to heat up in the microwave at work. I eat it at my desk.

Thanks for the advice. I'd rather have a sweet potato than strawberries any day. So I'll stick with the potato with dinner.

I get so much more info here than the book. It makes it easier to follow!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • This thread will answer a lot of questions you might have and help you determine how you should go about adding foods back to P2.

I added a fruit the first week, a grain the second, another fruit the third, another grain the fourth, etc.
  • Thank you so much. I will do that!

I was just thinking how nice it's going to be to reach my goal!!!!
  • you're not far!
  • I want to get to 140 and then I'll see if I can get to 130. I'm 49yrs old and my body has changed in the last couple years. (for the worse) I have a belly now and I hate it. I know I'll never be 30 again (or 40 for that matter). I had a historectomy almost two years ago, so I don't know if I'm going thru memopause or not. TMI I just want to be healthy and feel good about how I look. My bikini days are definately over but I'd like to put on a pair of jeans and feel good about how I look.

Thank for listening. I can see how much support you all give each other.
  • I had a hyst 6 years ago. I'm 51 and lost 4 inches in my waist in the first 6 weeks of SB. It really helps eliminate the abdominal fat. I'm actually 5-6# under my goal weight. I think this is the best way of eating for menopausal women. My cholesterol jumped about the same time as the hot flashes started, but has dropped 30 points since starting SB in January.
  • Yea!!!!! That's exactly what the Dr. ordered! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! I don't think I've smiled that big in awhile. I'm going to pick up my 11 month old Grandson and take him on my 2.2 mile walk/run! I think my steps will be a little lighter today. THank you all!
  • Shan, even my doctors are impressed when I tell them about my weight loss. I think a lot of them know about SB but don't really know the details of the plan & how well it works. I have a couple nurse practitioners that I see & one was ready to try South Beach after I talked it up. My dental hygeinist has already started it & told me today that she loves the 3FC website which I recommended to her.
  • I went for my walk minus my grandson (he has a virus) I thought about what you said and it just gives me that much more incentive to stick to this. It's easy so far. I just started phase 2 the only thing I miss is my wine. I really enjoy it, but I'll do without for now. I know they say I can have 2 4oz glasses a but I don't want to hamper my weight loss. At the dinner table tonight dh was saying how thin my face was looking. I don't have a bunch of weight on just enough to make me chubby. I doubt I could get lower than 130. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'm definately excited!
