Default Confused

OK, So I decided to log my foods for today into fitday... It sure doesn't seem like enough food, but the calories it is saying I ate is more than enough...

1 c Kashi go lean with half cup of 1% milk
1 cup romain lettuce with a pinch of black olives, a pinch of crumbled fetta cheese, a quarter tomato, 1/4 cup chick peas, and salad dressing with a cup of water
Chicken Breas with a quarter cup of edamame, cup milk
a fudgecicle with 2 tbsp of pb
fudgecicle

Total calories, 1318....

I almost made dinner!

How does my menu look, what would you do to tweak it?

I'm curious to see what other people have to say but I would guess that 1500 - 1800 calories would be a reasonable amount for you. What were you aiming for?

*I have read that 1200 is an absolute minimum but not sure you want to be that low already

You could easily make dinner, Lori....as long as it wasn't fried chicken or something.

You're getting calories from the fats that you've consumed today - PB and olives. Also, feta has a fair amount of fat and calories. It is all the good kind though.

Eat away!

Good food!!
I agree with zeffryn. Eat away!
What kind of dressing are you using on your salad?
I do notice your drinking 2 cups of milk which can add up your calorie intake (but in a good way).
And, maybe next time have just one fudgecicle?

I just found this site, and I calculated using the math and *light* activity... it's saying to MAINTAIN I'd have to eat 1663.483 calories...

http://weightloss.about.com/od/eatsm...lcalintake.htm

I think I'll grab some veggies of some sort.

Raw, I wont share that my dinner yesterday was four fudgecicles! I know I have to tweak my diet to make it work, thats why I started fitday!

I just picked up a bottle of "Pesto ranch" with 100 calories and 1 g sugar..

I realize thats a lot for a dressing,b ut I don't really care for vinegerrettes, or italian, any suggestions would be appreciated. Mind you, I WILL have those at least twice a week!

OK, I am enjoying 2 cups of cooked broccoli, adding another 206 calories. I'm done for the night! .

Am I eating the right combinations? What can I do to tweak it?

if you're concerned about your calorie intake, try having fewer "fats" during the day. Stick to either peanut butter or olives. Fat free milk instead of skim. Fat free feta instead of regular. Little changes can shave off just enough calories to bring you back down to 1200.

Try not to go lower than 1200 though, as it will have a negative effect on your weight loss.

Also, don't let one day of a few more calories get you down. Go for a walk this evening or do a exercise video and you should be looking good in no time

A few thoughts (I'm hoping Nessa will weigh in cuz I know she's read and tried a few approaches) -

It looks like your activity is moderate not light so you get a little more out of that.

How much protein are you getting? That looks a little low.

My favorite salad dressings are the Newman's light and reduced dressings. They come in lots of flavors and they've all been good. So far only the Sesame Ginger is not SBD friendly.

If 1200 is the minimum you might not want to be that low this far from goal. that gives you less room to adjust later. I also wonder how satisfied that broccoli will keep you tonight? I'm concerned that you might find yourself starving later and make choices based on that. That could be just me though so take it all with a grain of salt

OK, the Feta is LF! .. perhaps I need to tweak that in Fitday?

I DID go for a walk/jog this evening for an hour!

And that broccoli DID hit the spot! .

I was eating eggs for breakfast, but found myself lithargic even wtih side of v8, why I introduced the cereal as my grain for the day! I feel much better in the am.

I'm at 1574 for the day, with my walk, maybe thats more maintaining amount?

Definitely adjust the fitday to match the actual calories. I've found that sometimes fitday doesn't input the same calories that are actually in the food that I'm eating..especially if it is just a generic input like "feta cheese".

Nice job on the walk/jog, girl!

1574 is just fine...that is almost 100 fewer calories than your maintenance level.

Tweak away Even FitDay's generic lf cheeses often don't match the ones I've found. Way to go with that walk
