Good morning, Marcie. I give myself a little talk every morning and then review my day before I go to sleep. It gives me perspective.

Things seem to be calming down. I think being a bit of a hermit over the weekend helped. Life gets to snowball occasionally and it's good to just step back and let it all roll away.

My car cooperated yesterday afternoon and I made it to my doctor's appointment for my annual. Dr Jack is such a sweetie! He ordered some bloodwork and made a change in my meds with another test and follow-up in six weeks. He also remarked that I looked great with less weight on me. Um ... I weigh the same as this time last year but the gym must be doing something.

Today promises to be a bit "warmer" than yesterday with temperatures climbing to a balmy 15ºF. I don't think I'll break out the sandals but ti's nice to see normal winter temperatures. I have to drop off a prescription at the pharmacy and then will spend the rest of the morning flossing as I have a dental appointment this afternoon for my cleaning. It's like cleaning the house before the cleaning woman comes.

So what's happening in your life this last Tuesday of January?

Ruth a great compliment from your doc. Hard work is paying off. Here's hoping your dental appointment goes well. Dress warmly.

Hi all,
Not much to say here, except I'm so glad things are warming up a bit. Ruth, I used to hate to floss, but now I love it and do it at least 2x per day. Still need aggressive cleanings though. All my teeth are filled or have crowns so there's not much work that is left to be done in there!

LadyWS, thanks for the daily positive thought! What a nice way to start the day.

Oh, I know something I wanted to tell everyone. I booked our hotel for San Antonio using Priceline so it was a blind bid (didn't know which one I would get) - and we got really lucky, I won the Sheraton Gunter Hotel which is right downtown and supposed to be very beautiful. It's a historic building and hotel so I did some research and didn't have to go far before I discovered it is one of the most well known haunted places in San Antonio. I'm quite open minded about things like this so I'm a little thrilled but also a little scared. I know the room/floor to avoid, but still. I'd love to hear ghost stories from anyone that has any (not necessarily from this hotel!).

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning Another lovely 3:30 wake-up. That always makes the mid-afternoon extra coffee-filled. I hope this phase passes soon. Ah well, if I get close to 6 hours I do pretty well until about 8:30. just have to remember to workout early. I've got a union meeting at 4 that I will attend by phone. Maybe I'll set up the speaker phone on mute and attend the meeting from the treadmill

Marcie good morning

Ruth - It's always nice to hear that from your doctor. I hope they get your meds straightened out.
Enjoy the balmy temps today and remember to use plenty of sunscreen and drink water. Can't be too careful when it's that hot.

So my meeting yesterday went shockingly well. I expected them to offer me 2 counties instead of the three I have and a 4 day week. Instead they offered 1 county and responsibility for all union sponsored professional development at continued full time. We also talked a lot about my part of this problem and taking responsibility for setting boundaries and walking away from work. They are looking into renting office space for me so I have a clear separation between work and home. It will make more sense now that we will have a second person working in the south. Lots of props for the work I've been doing and support for taking care of myself. All in all a surprisingly good outcome. After that a really satisfying meeting with a local legislator so it was a good day. I'm looking forward to more of the same today.

Less thrilling news from the most recent specialist and MRI merry go round. It's nothing serious, more of an annoyance that doesn't seem to have an obvious cause and so no good solution other than pain meds/ nerve blockers. I'm not a big drug person so it looks like it's just more dealing with it. Not the answer I hoped for (I was hoping for an answer!) but seems to be my own quirk. The doctor thinks I have an autoimmune thing that just causes random muscle spasms. Apparently he has another patient that has something similar but there is no existing diagnosis so they just keep responding and trying different things. Ah well, mine isn't that bad so I'll just opt for the ignoring it and working through it route.

Time to start my to do lists for the day. Stay warm and have a good Tuesday friends

ETA - Mathilda - Sounds like a fun time ahead. I've never tried to book that way but it's good to hear it worked so well for you. Maybe I'll get braver.
I needed a mental break from the cold last night and started planning our May vacation. It's just Maine but lots of fun to start looking at rentals.

Good morning Marcie, Ruth, Matilda and the rest of you out there.

It's quite a bit warmer here today which I'll enjoy since I have a lot of running around to do. I have my routine cut-and-color at my hairdresser's first thing, and I'll head over to the farm afterwards to get a load of laundry started and some tidying up done before I have to meet Cindy & Maggie at the pediatrican. Maggie is having some blood work and a physical and Cindy has to be at another appointment by 1, so I'll take Maggie back to school, and go back to school again to pick both girls up and take them to gymnastics. We plan to go shopping for Valentine supplies after that before heading home and making them supper. Hopefully, Richard will get home from work at a decent hour so I can finally come back home.

Whew, I think I'm in need of more coffee!

Morning, Cyndi! I'm glad your work situation turned out so well!

Good morning friends! It is just Tuesday but it really feels like Wednesday or even later....that Saturday work day is making for a long week this week! I started the push up thing on Sunday...someone on the board mentioned it and I thought that would be a good way to get some strength training done easily. WOW am I sore today!!!!
Marcie- such good advice this morning...a positive attitude is key. Sometimes we are positive with others but not with ourselves!
MmcKellen- your haunted hotel sounds like quite an adventure
Ruth- It's so nice to get a compliment from the Dr. Hope you have a good day today!
Cyndi- Glad that your work meeting worked out better than you had planned! Sorry you did not get the answer you wanted with the tests but it sounds like you are going to be able to handle it.

....Mmckellan- this is for you! Happy ghost hunting! LOL

Hey Cottage...sounds like you have a busy day planned! Hope it's a great day!

Good morning!

Windsong, you are an early riser! What are your plans for the day today?

Ruth, I checked yesterday's thread before I came to this one and it made me smile when I read about you carrying your car battery into the house. We did many years ago, too. It was just part of life in those days but I'm sure glad we don't have to do it anymore! I think "Wonder Woman" still describes you pretty well. I often read your posts and wonder if they've got more than 24 hours in a day up there in Delta! Good luck at the dentist this afternoon!

Mathilda, your hotel might be the most exciting part of your trip, eh? A few years ago I worked with a family that believes they had a ghost in their home. He was 'friendly' and would sit in the kids' rooms at bedtime and they talked to him as they were falling asleep. I had each of the 3 children in my class and they all talked about him as if he was part of their family. Very tricky situation for a kindergarten teacher. There were lots of arguments when classmates told them that ghosts aren't real. And lots of upset parents when their kids were nervous about going to bed in case a ghost came in their room, too. Anyway, they did some remodeling when the kids got a little older and they found the ghost's 'nest' in the attic. They tried not to disturb it but he left during the remodeling and never returned.

I'm not sure I believe they had a ghost in their home, but they sure do and you asked for stories. When is the trip? My daughter keeps trying to get me to come to Houston over February vacation, and this frigid weather almost convinces me to go. I have too many other commitments though.

Uh, Cyndi - It's just Maine? I wonder if you and Julie will have a free evening so that we can meet this year? I'm still disappointed that I couldn't make it work last year. How great that your meeting went so well yesterday! Hopefully these changes will make the difference you're looking for.

Cottage, it's funny how really cold weather can make cold weather seem warm, isn't it? Ruth mentioned it today too, and Fergie and I were so happy to see that it was only -3 this morning.

Lisa, I hear you on the push ups! First I had the humiliation of the pretest, and now I'm trying to remember how long it's been since my shoulders and upper arms haven't been sore! LOL I'm still on my first week though, so I'm hoping it will get easier. I'm really glad Annie posted that link, despite my stiff upper body.

OK, every time I proofread my post someone else has posted and I find something I want to tell them, but it's getting late so I'm not even going to check this time. Hello to anyone I missed and everyone who checks in later.

Enjoy your Tuesday friends!

Heidi I play cards with Edna, 91, Ruth, 79 and my neighbor Toni, 59 at our college. We also eat there served and cooked by culinary students. Fun, frightening, and gives us something to talk about for a long time. We have had some interesting meals like frozen pie undercooked meat and raw veggies. They are getting better and the presentation is 5*. Will try and be SB friendly if at all possible. Have a fab day, Heidi.

Good Morning

I slept in again, and have lots to do before the troops arise. I'm doing the company books from home and need to have progress every day. If I wait until later, my exercise slacks.

Marcie(LadyWindsong), thanks for getting us started. Your day sounds fun.

Ruth, it sounds like a positive report from the doc! Glad you're having a heat wave.

Cyndi, I'm so glad your meeting went well. Ouch for the "overachiever" talk. It's easier said than done....I hope this change will make things better all the way around.

Matilda(Mmckellen), interesting story. The hotel does sound perfect. Sorry, I don't have any stories.

Linda(cottagebythesea),wow-busy day, but doable. I hope Richard does get home at a reasonable hour.

Lisa(litar), good for you trying the push up challenge. Annieoh posted it and I looked, but I have an irritable shoulder that it's best I not aggravate.

Heidi, funny story....I can imagine it's interesting keeping everyone happy with all the stories kindergarterers come with.

Ok, off to the salt mines.

Good morning! I am having a productive day! Got my workout in first thing and then cleaned the downstairs bathroom, entry, and mud room before making oatmeal for our breakfast. Connor reviewed his AWANA verses and Kadyn did her violin practice before school and then after I got home I threw lunch in the crock pot, packed dinner (it's a late night out for us with martial arts, Girl Scouts and a basketball game), finished up the four loads of laundry, read some of the book for book club, and took an hour nap! I'm feeling great now!

Marcie, the chapter I read today talked about acting as if your goals had happened instead of waiting to feel like you could achieve them. I thought that was an interesting perspective. What card game do you play?

Ruth, glad your visit with the doctor went well! Good luck at the dentist!

Matilda, how great to have gotten a nice hotel! I don't have any ghost stories, but one night about four years ago both Tom and I woke up at the same time and saw a glowing ball of light just hovering in our room. My friend says it was a spirit orb. I don't know what I think, but it was definitely a different experience.

Cyndi, I'm so excited to hear your good news about the meeting! They must really value you to offer such good terms! I'm sorry about the lack of diagnosis from the doctor, though. Have you tried any alternative medical treatments? I'm wondering if accupressure or accupuncture would do anything for you.

Linda, sounds like a busy day for you! Stay warm and enjoy your hair cut!

Lisa, I hope your day goes quickly!

Heidi, I loved reading your ghost story!

Debbie, good luck getting the books done!

Connor's home now so it's time for homework and violin before we go get the girls from Kindy. Bye for now!
