  • grneyed - pm me when you get a chance and tell me when you're going to be in town and where you'll be. I'd be more than happy to share some of the great places to go while in So. Cal. Let me know where your hotel is, that will help.
  • Happy almost-Friday!

I haven't been posting much, the drama-llama has come for a visit here at home, but things are settling down. Stress is making me want "bad" food, but I'm hanging in there. Seeing the scale at it's lowest in years keeps me determined.

Hope everyone has a terrific day
  • Hello everyone – I was wondering if any of you knows the difference between SBD and a low GI Diet? I’ve been trying to cut out the bad carbs but know I can’t go without any carbs and was researching low GI foods when I started reading your threads on SBD. What I’ve gleamed so far looks like the two plans are very similar and wanted to get your inputs from actual experience. I’ve order the SBD and Low GI books through the library so I could read them but thought I would seek your input to help me with my research.

My objective is to get off carbs that make me crazy craving them. I have been so off the wall with sugar for months and decided to abstain for a couple of weeks from any carbs that weren’t naturally green (so Jelly beans are out) while I worked myself through the cravings. I know the cravings will settle down if I can just stay away from them for a while. I’ve been reading up on Low GI Diets when I came across your forum and realized that what I’m doing sounds an offal lot like Phase 1 of SBD.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you,
  • I got good news yesterday. I'm getting a raise. That will come in handy since I'm not sure how expensive the divorce will end up being. I haven't heard anything from my lawyer since we sent over the proposed settlement. Robert has cancelled the last three visitations with Brian. I guess he is working but he hasn't really said.

I'm gradually getting things caught up after camp. I took a carload of stuff to the warehouse yesterday. I need to go this weekend and buy 4 eight foot tables with some of our profit before we close the budget for the year.

And my pool motor has been burned out for over 2 weeks. The company called today to say my 2 speed motor is backordered but they'll install a one speed tomorrow for me to use until the 2 speed gets in. YEAH! I can start cleaning up the algae and plan for the pool parties for adult Twilight camp staff, junior staff and Brian's birthday.

My eating is more on plan that before and life is getting back to normal.
  • Ok, I see in one of the other threads that the SBD is a Low GI Diet, I shouldn't have doubted myself. Now I'll read through the book when it comes in and she how to apply what it says. I never checked out SBD before, I thought it was just a fad. I'm going to really kick myself if I could have had this whole weight thing in check years ago if I had just picked up this book.

    Well I'm here now.
  • Barb congrats on the raise.
  • Yeesh, I have a busy week and can't be around and things get very active here!
    Barb, congrats on the raise!
Nessa, congrats on the job, although I will be a little sad if we can't do another wine tasting get-together!
    Ruth, your rose is beautiful.
Hello to the newbies, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

I've been leaving the house at 5:30 and not getting home until 7PM, so I'm tired. 4 hours of driving and 8 hours of class takes it out of you! Tomorrow is the last day and I'm done at 2PM, so DH and the kids are going to pick me up and we are headed to the beach for the weekend. I'm looking forward to loafing around in the sand for a couple of days.
Next week will be busy too, but at least I'll be working from home. DH's departure got bumped up to Wednesday, so we are trying to squeeze everything in!

Oh! and my food has been pretty good this week. I sit with a group in class, and they have been watching me snack all week. Today one of them commented, "you eat very healthy, don't you?" I have been watching them too, eating half-smokes and onion rings, BBQ Fritos, and candy bars, and thinking "thank heavens I'm not eating that stuff!" Tomorrow we will have a working lunch so that we can get done a little earlier. The class agreed to all pitch in and have pizza delivered. I am the only one of 30 that chose to abstain. How's that for resisting peer pressure?
