Thursday On The Beach

:sunny: Happy Thursday! :sunny:

Time to jump into another day, but it's supposed to be a gorgeous one. :) I promised Maggie lunch at the park if the weather was nice, and we'll probably stay until it's time to get Audrey. I should be getting home at a decent hour today for a change. :crossed:

Ruthxxx 04-10-2008 06:24 AM

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: about to happen here too, Linda. I hope you and Maggie have a super day.

Lake Ruthie receded in the night and there's lots more mud than snow out there for a while. Spring has to be here! I'm about to lug the trash to the road and will check out birdsong.

I'm off to the doc this morning and then to town for odds and ends or errands and to buy a birthday gift for my friend Shirleyanne. I'm thinking of getting her a potted orchid as she admires mine. We don't usually do BD gifts but this is her 70th so...... I even have two bottles of champagne and will try to find time to make her a rum cake. We've been friends for over 50 years so she's worth the fuss.

My blood sugar is too low this morning so I need breakfast before I lug trash. See y'all later.

femmecreole 04-10-2008 07:48 AM

Morning Cottage and Ruth...hope the weather is good for both of you for your outings!

Weather is nasty and windy here. I've gotten some work done, did my fluidity, bathed and dressed and dogs are fed. Now off to some breakfast, make the bed, dishes and laundry started and I'm out the door. May meet a friend for a drink this afternoon if I don't have a big workload when I get home from school...

Have a good one everyone!!

Schmoodle 04-10-2008 08:07 AM

Cat, you made me feel sad. And tired. All that stuff done already! All I've accomplished is to haul my butt out of bed and get to the computer. No coffee yet, I think that's the problem. Also stayed up late last night so I could get my hair colored. Hope you have some time to play this afternoon.

Ruthie, you know what the girl scouts sing. "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, but the other's gold." Hope your friend has a wonderful birthday. Bet you guys have a lot of dirt on each other.

cottage, enjoy the park on this beautiful day!

DH took the kids out to the farm where DH does his riding to see a foal that was just born. DS was supposed to be able to watch the birth, but the baby came at 4AM Tuesday morning, so that didn't work out. The baby is soooo cute, reddish, with a star and stockings. And my gray is no longer peeking through. That's all that's new around here! We've got a beautiful day in store too. :)

ladybugnessa 04-10-2008 08:17 AM

hi all! hope everyone is fine. still under 225 for me! 11 days of clean eating under my belt.

THE BOOT IS GONE! gonna get on the bike between now and May 1. back to the gym on May 1! yay me!

Kim_Star060404 04-10-2008 08:33 AM

Happy Thursday, Chicks!

Cottage: I'm sure Jake will enjoy you getting home earlier tonight. Have a great time at the park! :D

Ruth: I'm so glad it's dry out here. I don't think I could stand that much mud! I'm sure Hershey is a good girl, though and doesn't mess the house up! Enjoy your friends' birthday. Even though my best friend and I have only been best friends for 10 years, I still thinks she deserves the world on her BD. I agree with what Schmoodle said; and I would love to hear the "dirt"!

Cat: We're clean and clear, but they're forecasting up to 70 mph gusts this afternoon. Sigh. :( I hate the West Texas Wind. I admire you getting up so early and getting so much done. I feel very accomplished when I wake up in time to iron a shirt for DH in the morning. :o

Schmoodle: Don't you worry about not waking up early and crossing things off your to-do list right away! It takes all kinds - you and I are night owls, we'll let Ruth, Cat and Cottage get up early and get the world moving...we put it to bed. ;) Enjoy your beautiful day and that foal sounds gorgeous!

Nessa: Congrats on staying under 225, I think you're there for good! :bravo: Congrats on 11 days of clean eating! You're doing great!! :dancer: AND congrats on getting that durn boot off!! :cp:

Me: I'm shocked this morning as I actually made it up in time to workout, iron a shirt, post here and get to work on time! I'm on fire! Today is just work with some straightening up after, Meatball Casserole for dinner. I'm also meeting a dear friend for lunch. Her and her DH got married a year ago almost to the day and just found out they're pregnant. She's 41 and he's 40. I'm SO happy for them. (First marriage for him, second for her). We're going to a place with a big salad bar, so I should be safe. I think they let you order a la carte, so I may get a roasted chicken breast as well.

DH is doing a little better. I think all of the testing Tuesday traumatized him a little - he's definitely not used to it - so he ended up taking off after lunch yesterday and all day today. I'm happy for him - makes me think he might be human after all. Since Jan. 2006, he's only taken 4 hours off for sickness. Anyhow - he's decided to go ahead and just get the colonoscopy over with, so that's next Thurs., and in the meantime; he's gone on a higher-fiber diet which will probably be good for both of us. We're a lot more optimistic than we were yesterday.

Well, off to the showers!! Hope everyone to come has a great day and here's some :dust: for those of us that need it!

~Kim

FluffyK 04-10-2008 08:50 AM

Good morning. I need some of that WILL POWER DUST here this morning. I have been woefully negligent in my SB eating.

*sigh*

Today's a new day, right? I'm just feeling so low. DH is doing great with working out and eating better (no "diet" for him) and has lost about 11 pounds in the last 4 months. He's looking GOOOOOOOD. Now I keep thinking he looks so much better than I do, I must look like a toad to him.

Can ya tell I'm just down on myself? This is not a good place to be, because then I want to eat to make myself feel better. :(

ladybugnessa 04-10-2008 08:57 AM

Kim you are doing great.. up and ironing? oy i don't even think i know where my iron is

Krystal  darling

beachgal 04-10-2008 08:58 AM

Cottage, that sounds like so much fun!!! Wish I could come join you. :D Some of my favorite memories are having picnics with my family.

Ruth, you are such a dear! I know your friends must feel so blessed to have you in their lives--I know I do! :goodvibes You remind me of SARK!

Gosh, Cat, you do more in a morning than I do in a weekend! :yikes: You're amazing! Hope you have time with a friend today. :D

Schmoo, you're in good company, girlfriend! Heck, at this hour, were I not working, I'd still be IN bed! Don't feel bad. What color did you use? The foal sounds absolutely darling!!! I just adore baby animals.

BTW, I bet Schmoo is right about you and Shirleyanne, Ruth! Sounds like that card that says, "You'll always be my friend...you know too much!"

I'm sure a ton of people have posted since I started this reply... to all of you!

Me:
My coworker is coming back from a conference she didn't want to attend, on a flight she didn't want to take (she hasn't flown in 20 years), and is getting back late, so her center isn't open until 10:30. Unfortunately, the students didn't get the message, so they all arrived and were P'O'd at me. I've got a student here who's usually a bit out of sorts since she works nights, then comes straight here without sleep. :tired:

Off to the gym after work and then off to Panera for dinner and a meeting of my newcomer's club group. I wish I could have skipped it--there isn't much I can contribute, but I'm missing yoga to go to the meeting. :p Oh well, guess there's next week!

Hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather! :sunny:

Pacergal29 04-10-2008 09:04 AM

Good Morning World!

Cottage, Ruth & Schmoodle Glad to hear you are having good weather today, we are expecting storms.

Cat Your mornings make me tired just reading about them.

Nessa :carrot: to getting rid of that boot!

Kim Glad to hear things are looking sunnier today.

Fluffy Don't let a mans weight loss get you down, we all know they lose so much faster than us women do. Boys are dumb! :p

Hey guess what, I was checking myself in the mirror today after getting dressed, you should see the muscles in my calves! Yoga baby!

Time to stop tooting my own horn and get moving! Have a great day ladies!

GONNABE165 04-10-2008 09:04 AM

Hello chickies!

Krystal  I hope your day improves

Kim glad to hear your dh is hangin in there - all will be just fine

Ruth take care of that low sugar situation

As for me it's work as usual. I'm a bit tired this morning as we stayed up to watch Dateline "The Last Lecture" oh so good. I am feeling real excited for tomorrows weigh in I feel it will be a good one :crossed:

Good morning to everyone else as well as those to follow.

tkglenn 04-10-2008 09:06 AM

Good morning everyone.

Cottage-hope you get to make it to the park. It's supposed to rain here today so no park. Besides that, DS1 is suspended from school and now i can't really go anywhere. Aaaahhhh, this sucks.

Ruth-you're a good friend to even remember her birthday. None of my friends (outside of 3FC) remembered. Not even my best friend I have here. Not my friend I've had since the 6th grade. Can you believe that?! I bet you do have alot of dirt on each other. Sounds like you two will have a wonderful day.

Femme-I think you get our bad weather. It was yucky yesterday and last night. It's supposed to thunderstorm here in Houston. I love it but I hate it because DH not home to comfort me when I do get scared.

schmoodle-what is a foal? Yeah, I was happy when I got my hair colored because all my white went away. Now my roots are showing. Almost time for a touch up. The lady does my hair said that I didn't have to pay her for doing my hair the last time and the touch up, she's considering it a birthday present.

nessa-good for you----11 days. I wish I could even do just one day. And congrats on the boot coming off.

kim-congratulations to your friend. How exciting. I love babies, why do you think I have 4? What a special one year anniversary gift. I bet they are excited.

Me-nothing much. DS1 is home from school for 3 days. He got suspended. Long story. I just don't know what to do. I get so frustrated and confused because I have so many people telling me different things as to why he is doing this and what to do about it and I don't know what to do and think anymore. Some people tell me he did it because of issues in the past, it's just rebelious behavior, he needs therapy, he needs a good a-- whipping, you need to sit and talk to him because beating him isn't gonna do it, just yelling at him isn't gonna do it. I just don't know. He is doing things I used to do when I was in high school and he's only in the 2nd grade. Go figure!!!! My mom gave me the mothers curse, everything you did will come back to you through your children. Oh mothers!!! Kara-I do need to look at the website that you requested though. Will look at it today.

Everyone else who I didn't get to-hope you have a wonderful day.

BEAUTIFUL Krystal, this is for you ---> :kickbutt: Cut out that kind of thinking right now, missy!!! You are GORGEOUS and I bet the only thoughts DH is having about you are that he wishes you could feel as good as he does. I think what you said above is totally true and we need to avoid that thinking in order to stay on track. Truth is, sometimes I let myself think that way because it allows me to eat more! :o Let's not sabotage ourselves that way, okay?

We have to learn to love our bodies as they are, IMHO, if we want to get to a healthier weight. We can't wait to be skinny to love ourselves. My food and mood group last night was all about body image and one of the things we talked about a lot was that if we focus on what our body does (i.e. how it moves), we'll have a much better opinion of it than if we just focus on how it looks. Does that make sense? I get the best impression of that when I do yoga. I become so in tune with how my body functions and amazed at the things I can do with it. I also become so thankful for the blessing of having a body that works. I'm sure you're feeling like that right now, Nessa, right? Anyways, step away from the (insert food porn here), Krystal, and go for a workout with DH. You CAN do this! :cheer2:

Nessa, I'm SO thrilled for you that your boot is off!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay: That's great! You are doing fantastic with your weight as well and your clean eating!

Kim, I'm SO glad DH is taking time to recover and that you're both feeling more positive. That is SO healing, IMHO. You're in my prayers and I know things will go well. BTW, my DH irons his own shirts because I am a terrible ironer! :yikes: Your DH is one lucky guy!

:yoga: Congrats, Pacer, on those gorgeous calves! [insert wolf whistle here] :flame: I need to go get me some yoga! ;) You made me think of a card I gave my best friend after a breakup. On the front it said, "Everything we needed to know we learned in kindergarten..." and inside it said, "Boys are stupid." BTW, you're entirely right about them losing much faster than we do. Frustrating, but true.

I hear you, TK, it's really hard to know how to help your child in a situation like that! I do think that your own intuition is very important. Lots of people have good advice, but you and your DH know your son best. However, I think therapy is a good idea for everyone and can't hurt your son. Everyone needs a place to talk about what they're going through with someone who is nonjudgemental and doesn't have any personal involvement with them. Best of all, many therapists have experience dealing with kids who have been in situations like your son's and can give you expert advice on whether they think there may be future problems. I'd ask around with your friends who are parents and at the school for a recommendation of a good children's therapist.

femmecreole 04-10-2008 09:22 AM

yeah, TK...we get your weather the day after you do. My BIL lives in Houston and called yesterday and said it was heading over to us.

About me getting so much done in the morning...it's just habit. I honestly can't sleep past 5 and usually get up at 4 with my husband because he leaves for work at 4:45. So that gives me 3.5 hours till I have to go to work and I'd rather get stuff over with in the morning than have to face it in the evenings. After I quit working for the day (I shoot for 7) then all I have to do is fold a load of laundry while sitting in bed watching TV and just be "mindless" for a while. I've been stopping work for about 45 minutes in late afternoon for yogilates and it really gives me a last "boost" to work a couple of hours more when I'm worn out. Also keep in mind I don't have kids at home anymore, (except for my youngest who is a senior in college) so there is not as much stuff to do either!

When my kids were little and got me up at the crack of dawn on Saturday mornings, I couldn't wait till they were older so I could sleep late! By the time they got older, I just couldn't sleep late anymore. no fair.

tkglenn 04-10-2008 09:25 AM

femme-you get the benefit of having a warning of what you're weather will be like.

Has anyone tried the strip tease workout type of thing? I wanna try it but they say it's kind of expensive.

GONNABE165 04-10-2008 09:27 AM

Nessa thats great news about the boot now you can :carrot: on both feet

Laurie sounds like your feeling better - so glad for ya

Stephanie you go girl with those toned legs;)

Schmoodle 04-10-2008 09:29 AM

I'm back chicks, think I'll visit some more while I eat my breakfast cheesecake. It is really going to be gorgeous out today, I'll have to find a reason to get outside for a while.

Hooray nessa, you are on a roll! Get your Beck on girl!
Kim, to you and DH. It's good that he's going to get the colonoscopy, although I'm sure he's dreading it.
C'mon fluff! It's springtime! Climb back on board. You are having your down time, which we all have to have, I guess, which is why you need to coast along with us for a bit until you get your mojo back. I know it stinks. My DH has lost weight like crazy just from me being on SB. He doesn't really stick to the diet, and didn't really need to lose much to begin with. Men have it so easy when it comes to weight loss! I am sure your DH thinks you're a hottie!
Good morning Laurie, sorry you are inundated with students today! I did my usual dark brown. Boring, but I think it suits me and it's a definite improvement over the skunk stripe of gray I was sporting!
Hi Stephanie, ooooh, good job -I want muscles too! Are you taking a class or doing a tape or what?
Gonna, good luck at the weigh-in!
tk, I'm sure you're very upset over the DS incident. he is young and you know him best and I'm sure you would know why he did such a thing. Maybe it will be scary enough for him to know that he could easily have been taken away from all his friends and sent to a different school that he won't do anything like that again. That zero tolerance policy seems a little stiff at times, but of course the schools have to protect all students. They can't wait until there is an incident and somebody gets hurt and then have everyone wanting to know why they didn't take action sooner. Not that it would have come to that in your situation, but I guess they have to treat all incidents the same. How is DH handling things? By the way, we got the curse as well. I fully intend to curse my own children in retaliation!

My bad ankle has been hurting. I sprained it very badly when I was in college in an incident that involved alcohol, and ever since it will ache when the weather is bad. And since we had some bad weather earlier this week I was hoping that's what it was. Anyway, since DD1 is my resident sports injury expert (she's been a dancer all her life), she has advised me that I shouldn't do the WATP anymore. She watched me do it yesterday and said it was too much impact. She says stay off it and do yoga instead for a few days. It makes me sad because I really have been enjoying and doing well with the WATP...

ladybugnessa 04-10-2008 09:37 AM

Schmoodle can you brace it?

I have something like this and it works wonders. an ortho can prescribe it

http://www.supports4u.com/aso.htm

Schmoodle 04-10-2008 09:45 AM

Thanks Nessa that's what I was wondering. It's so sexy getting old after abusing your body most of your life!

ladybugnessa 04-10-2008 09:46 AM

my ortho said NO walking, running or jogging on the joint... so i do the Arc Trainer at the gym... but he wants my fat tush on the bike only....

bike, weights (not while standing) and yoga...

Schmoodle 04-10-2008 09:52 AM

Yes ma'am, I'll keep that in mind. I think swimming too will be okay.
The description of that thing is funny, they really emphasize that it's made with "ballistic" nylon. Wonder why... Not usually a lot of bullets flying around when I'm working out, you?

Wait, no walking either?

ladybugnessa 04-10-2008 09:57 AM

It's the very thin very very very strong nylon. You can get that thing in your regular shoe.. that's very important. it's a pain to put on... seriously. but even with the stress fracture before i had the boot i was pain free with it...

NO walking... that's what he said... i didn't listen and look what happened...

tkglenn 04-10-2008 09:59 AM

schmoodle-yeah, I plan giving him the curse 10 times stronger. My others aren't old enough yet but I'm sure they will ask for the curse also. Yeah, I know that the school has to take care of every student but what gets me is that they know Powell and that when they went to investigate, all the other kids denied it. These kids know him and know that he is weak and falls for temptation so they do it to him and he's the one that gets caught and they will deny it because they don't wanna get in trouble. That's another thing that that adds to the frustration. DH feels like everything that was put into teaching him right from wrong just went down the drain. I told him that it didn't, this is just one of those life lessons he has to learn. Powell was 1/2 an inch short of being expelled and having to go to an alternative school. I don't know if he wants to get suspended. This morning during breakfast he told me, "this is the first time I've been suspended huh?" Almost as if he wanted to see what it was like to be suspended. He used to every now and then talk about other kids being suspended and now it happened to him. I'm just tired. DH wanted to kill him yesterday. He wanted to literally kill him. He was so mad and hurt by the whole thing. I'm just glad he wasn't having a PTSD moment because I think I would probably be scraping my sons remains off the floor today.

GONNABE165 04-10-2008 10:06 AM

Schmoodle be sure and rest that ankle as often as possible

Schmoodle 04-10-2008 10:09 AM

Okay, sigh, well no walking is tough, but I will try. It's frustrating when I was just getting into the exercise thing and the scale is finally starting to move again. I know you can relate.

tk - Yeah, that's why I asked. I'm sure PTSD does not help with being able to deal with stressful situations like this. You are right to try and figure out how to deal with his tendency to do what the other kids tell him. That can cause big trouble later on. My brother was like that and it made for a turbulent adolescence! But your son is young enough that you have time to help him figure it out. Wish I had advice on how to go about that, but I don't. But I do really feel for you because I know when something like this happens, we immediately start to question our parenting. At least, I know I do. But it doesn't mean you have "failed" or anything like that, just that your son is presenting you with a challenge. Any chance the school will work with you on moving him to another class or someway limiting the time he spends with these other kids that are a bad influence? That doesn't solve your problem, but might help keep him from getting into trouble in the near future.
Being a parent is so fun!

tdiprincess 04-10-2008 10:14 AM

krystal... Keep your chin up.. Going off track is only going to make things worse. You CAN do it!!!!

TK...sorry about the DS1... that is totally punishment for the parents too..
Don't know if I want kids LOL

Nessa YAY!! to the boot off :) with my health problems I generally only cycle. Walking helps but I hurt easier with it. I also dance (I know a few line dances)

Kim- glad some of the tests are over. The colonoscopy won't be too bad. When I was in Nursing school I got to watch a whole bunch. Interesting... He'll be out of it for the actual test and he won't really remember it :)

Me... Just woke up, still in bed. Need to clean up the apartment, bike ride, put in my application for healthcare.... ship some boxes out for Ebay... go to work with DH (he's a process server...and I'm his secretary) oh and pick up a refill for BC (birth control...NO KIDS..at least not now)
Other than that its a B E A U T I F U L day in the neighborhood :)
..I like starting out with the daily chat, it helps brighten my day

tkglenn 04-10-2008 10:22 AM

schmoodle-tried switching classes but they wouldn't allow him, even after the first 2 weeks of school. Their excuse:they are already in a routine and schedule and they can't mess it up the child! To me that's BS. A child will catch up,they have no choice but to. They will adjust. He has nothing but bad kids in his class and poor thing, it's been like that ever since he started going to school 4-5 years ago. I've talked to other parents and their children don't have that many bad behaved children in their classes, maybe like 1 or 2 but he always ends up with the one class that has ALL the bad behaved ones. Uuuuuhhhhh.

Princess-really it's not bad. It's very rewarding and a wonderful thing to have children. I love all 4 of mine. It's something you can't explain. Sometimes I feel like giving them to another family.....lol....but I do love them with every inch of my body.

tomandkara 04-10-2008 10:22 AM

Good morning! It *is* actually still morning, so I'm coming in to say good morning. I'm off to a slow start today. I had a slower than normal run and am just kind of tortoising along. I haven't quite reached sloth-pace, but I might be there soon! I'm feeling a bit more perky since I got my breakfast (buckwheat waffle with a clementine and glass of tomato juice), so maybe there's hope for this day yet!

Linda, I hope your lunch in the park is nice! I bet Maggie will have a blast!

Ruth, I hope you have a wonderful birthday celebration with Shirleyanne! Is rum cake your specialty? I've heard you mention it several times.

Cat, I hope you get to meet your friend this afternoon! Sounds like fun!

Schmoo, I bet it would be really great to see a foal being born! I hear they come out feet first, which must be funny to watch. Although head first is pretty odd, too! Birth altogether is a pretty strange process!

Nessa, I'm so glad you got rid of that boot! What got you into it in the first place?

Kim, I'm glad to hear that your husband's spirits are up. My father-in-law has diverticulitis, so if he needs any tips I'll ask for you!

Krystal, we all go through those down times. I can tell you FOR SURE that if you clean up your eating, you will feel SO much better about yourself. Buckle down and take it one meal at a time, one hour at a time if you have to, heck, five minutes at a time if that's what it takes. Make a written plan of what you're going to eat for the day and stick with it. Give yourself 24 hours and your body will be feeling so good with all it's good fuel! You CAN do it!

Oooo, Laurie, Panera! Tom just went there for lunch the other day and was RAVING about it. We'll have to go next week when we're in Florida. What's your favorite thing to get?

Stephanie, I'm so excited for your calves! Yay yoga, indeed!

Gonna, was that program really sad? I didn't watch it for fear I'd cry through the whole thing.

Tawnya, good luck figuring out something to work for your son! Dr. Phil says you need to "find his currency". Figure out what really means a lot to him and then take that away as punishment. I bet some character-building lessons will help. I'm planning on starting them with Connor soon. He would never start trouble, but he's definitely a follower so we need to start NOW with giving him the tools to combat peer pressure!

TDI, starting with the daily chat is great, isn't it? Hope you have a beautiful day to go with your beautiful weather!

Kara

GONNABE165 04-10-2008 10:30 AM

Kara I cried when I watched his lecture from the Oprah show and yes I cried lastnight not because it's sad but because it's how I want to live if I know i have lil time left on this earth.

zeffryn 04-10-2008 10:42 AM

Nessa-congrats on 11 days! It's such a wonderful feeling!

Fluffy, we all have days like that. I can just about promise you that your husband loves you and thinks your beautiful no matter what you weigh! Everybody has setbacks, but it's a strong person that can get back up on the horse and keep going. *hugs*

Pacer- yay calves! Keep up the great work!

TK, I'm so sorry to hear that you're in arms about this. I can't even fathom the stress that you are under. Chin up. He's 8. 8 year olds make mistakes. Mistakes don't mean that he's going to be a mass murderer when he grows up.

Also, yay crappy weather. I think it's supposed to hit us today! :(
The striptease workout is available Cox On Demand if you have it. FOR FREE! They have a ton of different workouts available. I was scrolling through them last night. I had never even thought about that before, but I'm definitely going to be trying them at some point.....if I can wrassle the living room away from DS and DH! ;)

Kara, Good Morning! Doesn't everybody tortoise along in the morning? ;)
I'm going to check out the character building stuff that you were talking about, it sounds interesting.

Me? It's a wonderful day so far, although it's supposed to rain and definitely looks it. I found a library that was closer to our house, but didn't have time to get there yesterday. I think we'll go there today, although I checked the online card catalog last night and the book that I really want isn't available :( I also found that they have a toddler time, but I would have had to pre-register. I have no idea why one would have to pre-register for a toddler story time, being as you wouldn't just leave the kid there...but whatever.
Hubs is applying for a job at another local university so he's been jumping through flaming hoops all morning....keep your fingers crossed! We could definitely use the extra money that it would bring in :)
Today is the start of my fourth clean day. I understand what you guys mean about not weighing yourself all the time, I've been driving myself crazy with it. I'm going to hold myself to doing it on Mondays during my home blessing hour (thank you, flylady!)....it will turn into a body blessing hour as well. Yay!

Like I said, tomorrow night I have a cooking "party" with my friends. I talked to the host, and he changed his mind on what he was having...so he's leaving the selection up to me and a friend. Perfect! I'm going through the cookbook now to find something. It might not fit every rule, but I'm going to have it fit within the parameters as much as possible. :)

kara.. this is my BAD ankle... i broke it in 2001 in November of 2007 I had the metal removed from it. then they discovered I have a bone cyst in it too. The bone cyst is actually ignored till it's painful.

6 weeks ago my ankle started to hurt badly. on the side with the bone cyst. I went to the ORTHO... and i had a stress fracture. probably from Yoga... NO HOPPING in YOGA....

Hey, Kara! I hear you on the sloth pace. I was feeling that that this morning, too. :snail: I love Panera!!! I started eating their wholegrain bread before I had a chance to look up the ingredients--I now know that it's not on plan, but it hasn't had any bad effect on me, so I continue to eat it. :o I love their soups, especially the black bean. I'm a big fan of the chipotle chicken sandwich, though I get it without the bacon and substitute wholegrain bread. They have awesome salads--I sometimes have to substitute balsamic vinegrette for the dressing or ask for something off (like mandarin oranges), but they tend to have fresh fruit (I love the pears in the orchard harvest salad, but it's only available in the fall), nuts (not the candied kind!), and great cheeses. You can also add all natural lean chicken breast on any salad. I'm a huge fan also of the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. I get it on wholegrain, but all the insides are SBD-safe and SO good--cilantro hummus, feta cheese, peppadew peppers, veggies...yum! Their coffee is also good and our local one also has caffeine-free diet soda! :D The hard part is saying no to all the pastries!

Enough with the food porn, Laurie! ;)

Schmoodle- I have a trouble ankle from a bad sprain from playing volleyball years ago. It is important to listen to it when it bothers you, rest it, ice it & a support works wonders. I don't have to restrict any activities. I walk, run, play volleyball, basketball etc. I just have to make sure it is supported so I avoid turning it. See an orthopedic doc if it continues to bother you. It is helpful if you can find one who specializes in sports medicine/sports injuries. They will have great information on how to rehab it, if you need that.

Kara--At Panera, I usually get the "you pick two" with half greek salad-no dressing and black bean soup. I drizzle the soup over the salad instead of dressing. And an apple as the side item. Their mushroom soup is delicious, but I don't know the nutritionals on it and I don't know if it is vegetarian or not. I believe the black bean soup is vegetarian and the greek salad does not have meat on it, just feta, olives, & veggies. They do have nutritional info online available.

I am going to copy the Panera suggestions into my SB Dining Out Guide. I've only eaten there a couple of times, but it's good to have some options when traveling!

Laurie, what are peppadew peppers? I wonder if they'd dump the insides of a sandwich on a bed of lettuce??? And I'm  about hopping in yoga!

Tawnya, Dr. Phil's whole point was that you have to find what's meaningful to them. For example, yesterday Connor was goofing around instead of doing his work and threatening to keep him inside didn't help and threatening to take away TV didn't work (since he doesn't watch that much anyway) but once I threatened to take away his new multi-colored pen, he had his nose to the books! Who knew such a small thing would be what he cared about the most?!

Jan, I hope Boo is OK!

Karla, thanks for the suggestions! I do love black bean soup!

I poured some protein powder in my Greek yogurt for lunch today and it was really good! 37g of protein for 195 calories - not too bad! Thought I could use a little boost for the afternoon.

Kara I was wondering about protein powders. Wondering if they were ok for phase 1 as I often like to have shakes for breakfast or lunch if I don't have time to make something. We have a few different kinds of protein powders at our house....a soy one ("chocolate" flavored, low low low sugar, high protein, low calories and carbs), Muscle Milk Light - vanilla, low carbs and very low calories, low sugar, high protein....and then we also have gainer...which I won't even look at ;)

TK, FitTV is great. I do their early morning pilates sessions once in awhile. I've kind of forgotten about that channel, I might have to look into it again :) Does DishTV have an "on demand" feature? We used to have it, but that was 3 years ago and I can't remember. If they do, you might want to check it out and see if they have anything fitness related.
