Ruth, it's a great thing to have your stash organized and cleaned out. Great job! Since we're posting "where were you", in 1974, I was learning how to walk! LOL!
I don't watch TV but every now and then, so I haven't seen TBL. Reality shows drive me nuts, though I have been known to watch TBL once... I think it was when the big dude MOE was on. ME.. I had a good OP meal this mornign (belgian pancakes). I bought some Quinoa last night - has anyone used that instead of noodles in chicken soup? MY DH has the flu, so I made some nice soup for him, but want to try the quinoa instead. If not, what are your favorite quinoa recipes? I've got a lot of running around to do today. Got to get my morning chores done, packed up for the PO and library, then get myself moving. Might get a haircut in today if he has a slot open that's convenient to me. |
Hey everyone! Not as busy this morning - but still about to punch a wall! Things aren't on schedule - and that's my biggest beef with things around here. We have a state-mandated send-out date and we're going to miss it by at least 4 days. Argh! Can't wait for this weekend!

Morning girlies! I'm home again. Went to open the store and still have a fever. The Zicam knocked out my cold symptoms for the most part, but the fever is making me angry. No more Zicam for me today though. Stupid sugar.
But, today is Day 1 of Ph1. So far, so good. Already had breakfast and my first snack. Going to make Taco Bake with fake meat tonight, and made a tomato/cucumber/mozz. salad last night, along with a broccoli/cauliflower casserole so I make sure to get my veggies this week. Gonna lie down. Sorry no time for personals. My eyelids are burning. Hope you girls have a great day! Lisa |
Thanks, Nessa!!! That looks amazing! Do you feel it's helping you? (feel free to take this to PM if you want or feel it's too off topic) I've been searching for what feels like forever for a way to deal with the psyche/head/emotional part of losing this weight. I've tried OA, worked with several therapists and nothing, so far.
Thanks for making me feel young, Fluffy et.al. I was in utero in 1974. :D I feel awfully old lately, so it's good to know I'm at least in good company. ;) I love quinoa! I think it might get lost in soup--it's a very small grain. You might try Isreali couscous. It's a very big grain and super-yummy. As for recipes, I'll hunt around for some good ones when I get a chance, but check out www.myrecipes.com for lots of great recipes (I find Cooking Light's recipes are especially easy to convert to SBD). Just make sure you wash it first--quinoa has a slippery/soapy coating that you need to rinse off before cooking. I usually line a strainer with a piece of cheesecloth. It has SO much protein that it's a great choice for a grain! Kim, I'm sorry things are so tough at work. It must be super-frustrating since it's out of your hands. I hope you can get through and maybe take out some of that frustration through exercise. I can imagine that you'd do exceptionally well in a boxing class right about now... |
I went to the clubhouse on my lunch break and did 31 minutes on the stair machine and now my hips & butt are screaming. Had a healthy lunch and now I am set to get the rest of my day done.
Hows the rest of your day? |
I'll play. In 1974 I was getting ready to start middle school. Just the age DS is now. Feel even younger now, Laurie?
I was going to upload a picture of our meatloaf and mashed potato April Fools dinner, but all my pictures have disappeared from the memory card on my camera! Nessa, I have visited that part of the website. Not sure yet if I want to try it or not. Something in me seems resistant. Maybe because I usually hate that self-help psycho-babbly kind of stuff. But that's just me. If it is helping you or anyone else I think that's wonderful. Hope I never need to see a therapist, because I would make a horrible patient! Sorry for the frustrating day at work Kim. Fluff, I made a really good quinoa pilaf recently. I posted the recipe in the Phase 2 side dishes. weezle, hope you were able to put your eyelids out. That sounds tough, starting Ph1 while you are sick. Feel better soon. Gonna, good job on the exercise! |
I don't even think I was thought about in 1974 being as I was n't born til July of 77
|
Good morning...ahem...I mean afternoon. I was up early, really, and even dressed and exercised and showered and dressed again by 7:30, but I didn't get to check in until now.
Linda, I'm so glad to hear Maggie is feeling better! Better you than me watching the Chipmunks all day. Ugh. They drive me bananas! Cat, sorry about your computer being grumpy with your DVDs. That stinks! You could probably work up a sweat jumping around and yelling at it! Oh, I forgot...you're not into the jumping workouts... Jan, I hope everything works out with the new job interview! Cyndi, sorry to hear the cat isn't doing so well. Perhaps the vet will be able to fix her up sooner rather than later! Ruth, I thought I was going to win the I-was-the-youngest-in-1974 game, but I think Jessie beat me. My parents were at least married (although I was -3 at the time!). GONNA, when's your birthday? I was born 26 July 1977!!! Gonna, do you and your husband do exercise videos together? Tom did a Denise Austin pregnancy workout once with me. OK, he didn't REALLY do it, but he put in a couple of kicks and walks. It was funny! Nessa, I'm glad Beck is working out well! Happy monitoring. Schmoo, sorry about your phone woes. Next time, have someone ring the doorbell and tell her you have to go! My in-laws do that and it cracks me up! Laurie, what kind of puzzle are you doing? Jessie, have you tried any prenatal yoga? That really helped me with the aches and pains issues (and I had a lot!). Krystal, if you want to use the quinoa in soup, I'd cook it seperately and then add it in right before you serve it so it doesn't get too soggy. I like mine with a little bit of a bite to it, kind of like barley if you know what I mean. Kim, you're on the downside of the week now! Hope everything evens out for you! Lisa, you could try just straight up zinc for your cold. That's what makes the Zicam effective anyway. The zinc strengthens your immune system. We're having a nice, relaxing afternoon. The kids have AWANA tonight and I don't really have much to grab at the grocery store so I have to find a way to spend about an hour of time by myself this evening! I was thinking of looking for a coffee shop, grabbing a tea, and perusing my newest Runner's World. It's a much better option than Friendly's, which was the first thing that popped in my head! I just couldn't get past eating ice cream, even if it was NSA, while reading a running magazine... Kara |
Good afternoon to you Kara glad you got the chance to check in - it's tough when you stumble upon a busy day. Yes my dh does do workout videos with me he is very supportive.

Now I feel really old! In 1974 I was newly divorced, living in a town house with two kids 10 and 8, a lousy job and no fun except visiting FabricLand for the Buy One, Get Two Free sales. I guess that's why I have 6 yards of everything!
Claire took it all! It's a good thing I see her a lot or I'd be into grieving and/or withdrawal. Just had a nice nap and woke to notice that The Spring Flood is starting. :yikes: My sump pump is running and water is turning my dog garden into a lake although there is still a ton of snow out there. The Upper and Lower Lakes have had their water level lowered by about three feet to get ready for the melt. My lakes are part of the Rideau Canal system so the extra water goes into Lake Ontario. Look out Toronto! |
ruth i'm older than your kids... and clearly remember 1974 although my DH was only 3 that year....
|
Okay I'm in the Nessa - Schmoodle range :) And you two rock so I feel much better!
|
I was 11 in 1974 so I was in middle school. I may have a 10 year old but my baby sister has a 25 year old!
I've been in a workshop at work all week. I don't have a computer connection all day and I've been rushed in the mornings and at night with catching up with my work and scouting. I did finally post the Exercise Queen tonight so if a mod could sticky the April Exercise thread, it would be appreciated. Robert just dropped Brian at gymnastics tonight so I didn't get a chance to find out if he will drop Brian off for the New Scout campout. I did find one of the moms at gymnastics that said she could pick him up at 5 so it should be possible but rushed if she does it. She's never been to his school and I'd have to get her set up with his day care so it would just be easier if his dad would help but I never know how he will react to anything. I'll see him on Saturday when he comes to get Brian from the Robotics competition so I can ask him then. |
