SBD and travel
I usually have to travel for work about one week/month. Since I've been doing SBD, I've had 4 trips and realized how difficult it is to stay on plan those weeks. Sitting in a hotel room bored and wishing you were home can really make you want to pig out! I've discovered that eating out should be avoided when possible. And a room with a fridge and microwave is a big help. I usually go shopping the first day, but because food prep is limited and I don't want to buy more than I need for a couple of days, it's not easy.
Some of the things I've found handy from the store: individual sized cups of tuna, bag salad, canned soup, snack packs of raw veggies, microwave veggies, single serving hummus cups, sf yogurts, fruit, lowfat cheese sticks, packets of sf instant oatmeal, small cartons of skim milk.
I can't buy sf pudding cups because sitting in a room with 4 of them will not end well for me, so my treat is sf cocoa.
Hotel breakfast buffets are not SBD friendly! Usually all I can find is fruit, skim milk, and eggs. But this morning the milk was sour, and the eggs were from powdered and kind of crunchy.
I think it helps to stay busy. I can go walk at the mall, or go to the movies. I always bring my bathing suit now, and one of my favorite things to do is catch up on letter writing and having a spa night. I do a facial, manicure, pedicure, and wax my eyebrows, things I don't usually feel like I have time for at home (except for the eyebrows!).
I feel like I'm getting better at this, but still learning. Do you travelling chicks have any tips or tricks for staying on plan?
