Indian Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani)
I've looked all over and can't find out if this is allowed or not. I've been craving it for days.
I won't be ordering it, but making it at home using the pre-packaged spice mix... I know I can tweak it to fit, but this is so good, I'm going to have a problem just eating one serving
I'm also planning on making chick peas (Channa Masala) - Yummy... Rice and Naan for DH as well.
Yummy! I just had chana masala and palak paneer for dinner.
Murgh Makhani, I can't find the recipe, so don't know what spices are in the mix.
If the spice mix contains no added sugar, and you cut the ghee or substitute it, I don't see why you can't have it, if you are on phase 2. On Phase 1? then I'd wait till your on phase 2.
I'm curious now, what are the ingredients in the masala packet? What are the rest of the directions on packet? i.e. other ingredients to add.

Reason: Added last question
All I do is add the chicken and 1.5 C. water, then throw it into the oven. It calls for just shy of 2 Tbsp of butter - which sometimes I use and some times I don't. It does serve 4-5 though.
I use the Shan mix for the Chana masala. For that I just saute a little onion, and add some tomato to taste:
Salt, Sodium Bicarbonate (E500), Sugar, Cumin, Black Pepper, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate E450(a), Red Chilli, Clove, Large Cardamom, Cinnamon Green Cardamom, Garlic, Mace, Nut Meg, Ginger
All these Indian dishes sound delectable, I'm positively drooling here! BUT, both of the packaged spice mixes include sugar, which is a no-no. Keep that in mind. Can you make your own spice mixture, instead? That way you could substitute Splenda (etc.) for the sugar, and make it SB friendly.
Oh, and substitute Smart Balance or another approved margarine for the butter, too.
