Ahhhhh! Pass me the cawfee pot LC :coffee:! Last day of my first week back to work in nearly 2 years! and I'm exxxhausted
Yesterday I watchedsomesort of sailboat lessons out on the river..it was sooo cute to see all these lookalike boats following each other, and making near misses... they reminded me of little ducks following the momma duck for swimming lessons...
The team took me out to dinner last night, where I had all On Plan foods ... :yay: for me... The language that was slung about was blush worthy... then one guy got all red in the face and asked if I mind.. and (cover your eyes if you dont like swear words) I drolly  replied "F**K no"... :dz:.....:lol3:..:dz:
hee heee!
I sure miss keepin up with the goins on in here... :gossip: but I'll catch up with youse all this weekend!

Ruthxxx 07-13-2007 06:40 AM

Quick cluck through - I have a 7:30 meeting with my trainer and need to shower and dress. See y'all later.

femmecreole 07-13-2007 07:01 AM

Schatzi, the boating lessons story really brought back memories for me. My parents sailed/entertained on their boat every weekend. When other kids were at "regular" camp of course I went to sailing camp and I loved it..all of us in little sunfish. I had a little dinghy my Dad towed behind our boat if we were going somewhere that we needed it to get to land when there were no docks. He rarely used it and it was "my boat". We lived in a boathouse for about 5 years till I was in 8th grade. It was a really cool place my Dad designed and the big sailboat was docked under it. One afternoon, Daddy and I took the dinghy out for a sail around the harbor, and a storm came up, so we decided to dock it (we were on the other side of the harbor then) We had just gotten next to the dock when a big gust of wind blew the boat over and we both landed in the water. We turned the boat over and were treading next to a dock that was too high for me to climb up. Daddy was under me trying to push me up so I could reach the dock to pull myself up when a teenaged kid about 15 or 16 came by and put his hand down to pull me up on the dock (I was about 9 or 10 then) he had just grabbed my hand and starting pulling when his mother comes by and yells "JUNIOR! JUNIOR! GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF THAT WATER..IT'S FILTHY!" Luckily, Junior didn't listen and got me out of the water..uh, the "filthy" water that had gone down my throat and I was completely submerged in.

Our family has laughed about that for years (gee, was that 40 years ago already?)

Well, about a year after Katrina, my Mother was here along with my Sister and BIL and we went to go check out the boathouse which Daddy sold years ago. I knew someone had just bought it right before the storm. It was pretty much destroyed and they had it gutted down to the studs to start rebuilding. We were standing outside and my BIL saw something floating in the water,so he laid down on his tummy on the dock to see if he could fish it out and my Mother, Sister and I both said at the same time "JUNIOR! Get your hands out of that water..it's filthy!". He looked at us like we were nuts.

Well, I've rattled on enough. Not much happening here today...work, then gym, then grocery store, then cooking then more work. Gawd, but my life is exiting, huh?

cottagebythesea 07-13-2007 07:14 AM

 Cute story, femme!

I have to find something to make me laugh, the morning hasn't been going too well so far. I made a pot of coffee only to find I had a drop of my soy milk left and the skim milk was sour! :( Then my laptop lost it's wireless connection, and I can't figure out why. I'm on my desktop now, and it takes forever to do anything on it.

I've got to find something good about today -

Hey, it's FRIDAY! My vacation starts as soon as I leave Cindy's!!!!! Usually I travel with them, and it counts as part of my vacation, but this time I had the option of taking some time to myself since her entire family is renting a house in the Outer Banks, so she can manage without me this next week. I don't have any solid plans, but I will go to Cape May for a couple of days, and I plan to be entirely selfish and have plenty of "me" time. :) That's been on very short supply lately!

little chick 07-13-2007 07:22 AM

Hey good to see some of you chicks finally up, I though breakfast was going to get cold. I was surfing the web trying to find some email invatition sites? For a girls party I am having, anyone have any ideas.
Tonight I am going for a Hair cut and my eyebrows waxed. Yipee.
Well gotta to dash and get some laundry on the line cause guess what?
THE SUN IS SHINNING, I DON'T HAVE TO JUMP OFF THE ROOF TODAY.

Kiko 07-13-2007 07:23 AM

Good morning!

Cottage You certainly deserve some "me" time!! My family goes to the Outer Banks every year- we haven't joined them the last few years and miss it terribly!

Schatzi It is good to hear from you! I am glad that your first week went so well. I am sure your DH can't wait to have you back home.

Femme Very cute story!

Ruth Hope that you have a good workout! :workout:

Me- Back on the computer to get this stuff finished up. I still have a bit to do, but hopefully I can knock it out this morning. Abigail has a playdate from 10-12 and then we have a birthday party from 3-5. It is a swim party, which I am not too excited about. I REALLY don't want to be in a bathing suit in front of all of these parents....

The good news is that Phase 1 is DONE and I lost 7 pounds. I am thrilled- my body really needed me to do a full two weeks and I have been on and off for months. It feels great! I am grocery shopping today, so will restock and add some extra things that I can now eat.

Kiko 07-13-2007 07:29 AM

Morning LC! Thanks for getting us cranked up today. I am sure sunshine is the perfect way for you to end your week. :)

cottagebythesea 07-13-2007 07:33 AM

Kiko ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I'm so proud of you!

L.C. ~ Can I come, too? :D A haircut, is it just a trim or are you getting a whole new hairstyle? Either way, enjoy your time at the salon, and thanks for the breakfast!

 Ruth, Schatzi, !

indigal 07-13-2007 07:37 AM

Happy Friday the 13th!...Just cruising by to say hello! (Maybe that explains your day Cottage).
I've had a good day. Only worked a half day, so that was nice, playing in my yard, and getting ready to go for a walk...
Have a good day all!
kitty

tomandkara 07-13-2007 07:37 AM

Morning, girls!

I am in the middle of cleaning house but needed to take a break, and I'm glad to see you all are up and clucking so I can have a bit of a chat before I continue on with the drudgery. I wanted to go running tonight (WHAT?!) but it wasn't in the schedule...

Kiko, I'm so happy for you with your loss on Phase 1! It's nice to be rewarded with that big number!

Cottage, I am ever so jealous of your time in Cape May. Please plop yourself down on the beach, lean your head back a bit, close your eyes, and listen to the surf for me! And rock in a chair on the Chalfonte porch, too, if you will.

LC, I'm ecstatic to hear about your sunny forecast! Hope the kids play a rousing game of tag and tucker themselves out!

Cat, I LOVED your story! I have always wanted to sell everything we own and buy a boat to sail around for a couple years after Tom retires from the military, but I know nothing about sailing. Literally nothing. Like I don't even know what aft and keel and port and starboard mean. I don't even know if I spelled them right! Thanks for sharing about that memory, though. It was so neat to read!

Schatzi, I hope your next week goes as well as your first. I'm living vicariously through you, having adult interaction and all!

Ruth, hope your meeting with the trainer went well and she had some good ideas for non-knee-stressful things for you to do.

We had pizzas for dinner tonight. I bought tortilla shells and baked them in the oven at 200 (C) for about five minutes a side, straight on the rack, and then let the kids top them with whatever they wanted (they picked mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and cheese - I was so proud when they were piling on all those veggies!!!). EVERYONE loved it and we declared that Friday will from now on be Pizza Day!

Well, I should get back to the floors. The kitchen/big room needs to be swept and scrubbed and the bathroom needs to be given the once-over. Yulch. Bathroom. Usually I do it first, but the kids were getting their baths and there's no point cleaning it then, or I'd just have to do it all over again!

I'll check in again later.

Kara

tomandkara 07-13-2007 07:39 AM

Kitty, my picture of you playing in your yard is probably not at all accurate. You are not accompanied by a romping Lab and a drooly tennis ball, are you? Or a sandbox, bucket, pail, and collander? Or a jump rope?

Have a great night!

Kara

Well Kara, I have 2 dogs...neither of who care for balls... I have several raised garden beds and lotsa flower/plant beds and a "fish pond" ( It's a large pot I water proofed)with water plants and a 100+ tiny fish. I was weeding my raised beds today.

So yesterday I was lamenting no motivation for exercise, well this pix posted on the exercise thread, got me off my lazy butt! I thought I'd share this here, as several of you were feeling the same way as me. I've started walking, and will get back into yoga and free weights when I'm over my TOM. (Kara, I cannot write that now and not think of you and your DH Tom!) LOL!

tomandkara 07-13-2007 08:17 AM

THAT IS GROSS! Thank you SO much for posting that, Kitty, and I am not being sarcastic! I think I will blow it up gigundo size and post it on my fridge and cabinets for when I need to stop the munchies!!!

Kara

sstambler 07-13-2007 08:20 AM

Good morning all - Kara I answered you about Jillian Michaels last night on the Thursday thread because of the time difference I thought you were on there. If you didnt get it let me know and I will start again.. no biggie... have a great day all...

charolastra00 07-13-2007 08:36 AM

Morning all. I'm currently in agony because my roommate has been filibustering the bathroom for an hour. I really wish he'd wait until AFTER I have my morning pee! :P

I walked about 5 miles yesterday exploring and I'm really feeling it today. My average to and from work walk is relatively flat, but I walked up a few hills and didn't get winded at all! Just kept to the pace of my music and was good to go. Not looking forward to work today though- sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who has their act together, which is bad because I'm only an intern! I guess now I know I can't deal with the laid-backness of the nonprofit world. I'm just too much of a Type A person!

Has anyone ever tried hemp milk? I got some for my cereal and yucko. :(

weezle 07-13-2007 08:42 AM

Ugh. I am SO TIRED.

I slept just fine last night though, just trying to play catch up from the night before. I didn't get back into town until 9:50 last night. Then I had to eat dinner and go to bed. Yawners.

Betty, I've found that I like running indoors but not outdoors. I prefer a track with some cushion so my knees aren't as irritated, but a treadmill is ok I guess. Outdoors I can't run as far and feel like I can't breathe. Maybe it's the fact that I'm allergic to everything. But start slow. I started with 1/4 mile and worked my way up to 6. You can do it!

Pacer, cool! Terre Haute is one of my stores that I'm in charge of. I used to be in charge of Evansville, too. Whoopee! Not bad areas though. Just far away from here. Seem like very nice people.

Sary, I've got a shoulder thing going on from kickboxing a year and a half ago. Turns out it's just rotator cuff tendonitis and bursitis, but from guarding it for that long, all my muscles are shot, and the rotator cuff muscles don't hold the ball at the top of my arm in the shoulder anymore. I'm in PT to avoid injections and to strengthen those muscles so my arm doesn't fall off, and I can play sports and do things again. It was to the point where I couldn't lift my purse with that arm, and I'm definitely getting stronger week by week.

Did not wear the new jeans yesterday. It was a dressy thing so I wore a different size 6 pair of capris that were sitting in my closet. Very exciting. Oh, and at the buffet I had a salad with FF dressing, two different veggies, and a small serving of rice pilaf. And 4 glasses of water. Not bad, seeing all the sweets around!

Well, I need to get ready for work. You girls have a great day!

Lisa

Pacergal29 07-13-2007 09:06 AM

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Hoping to have a slower day today and catch up on some nagging things on my desk. You know those little things that just get pushed aside and before you know the little things have turned into a huge overwheming pile? Can't seem to convince the boss that I need a part timer to help with the small stuff.

Femme I loved to hear your story, it brought so many memories of growing up and spending my summers on Lake Michigan. Mom and Dad had a sailboat up there for years! Your dingy story made me smile, I remember the days of sailing up Lake Michigan and anchoring in various bays and paddling to shore. Or better yet the time my cousin and I took the dingy out and "some creature from the lagoon stole one of the oars right out of my hand". We spent forever going in circles trying to get back. Boy was dad mad! Dad passed away right before I graduated and I hadn't been sailing for years until my brother moved back to Michigan 2 years ago and bought a sailboat. We took my kids out to give them their first taste and now they want to know when we are going back. My brother tried to teach them the basics but they preferred to just sit back and enjoy.

Today would be a lovely day for a sail, lets all go! Ladies have a wonderful day and I will check back later!

little chick 07-13-2007 09:10 AM

Cottage you can come too. My friend and I are going together a little girls nite out. I am getting it cut. Right now it is so long it is past my shoulders I can wear it in a pony tail and it still sits at my shoulders. I think I am getting chopped to just under my ears. If I don't chicken out.

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 09:13 AM

TGIF!! :carrot::carrot:

LC: Thanks for waking us up! Could you pass me some of that bacon -- I forgot to eat again.

Schatzi: You sure are a ball of fire! I'm glad your first week back at work went well, even if you are dragging after it!

Ruth: Hope you're having a good meeting!

femme: What a great memory for you! We were a sailing family as well, my dad sold the boat last year because we hadn't been out in a while and I almost cried.

Cottage: How wonderful your vacation is almost here, I know you've been looking forward to it for a while! Enjoy your selfish time!

Kiko: WTG! A 7 lb loss is awesome! And so what if you have to be in front of everyone in a bathing suit? Just think of next year when you go to the same party and look all hot!!

Kara: How great that you WANT to go running! What a great night for pizza night - sounds like your kids are really making smart choices.

indigal: I'll have to check out that pic you're talking about. Would you mind skipping over here and weeding my rose beds. I absolutely HATE doing it!

charolastra: I can honestly say that I have never heard of hemp milk. It doesn't sound too yummy. Great job with the hill-y walk yesterday!

Lisa: Great job avoiding those sweets at the meeting! And I know you feel wonderful fitting into all of those smaller size clothes!

ME: I finally talked Jason into letting me paint the living room this weekend, so I'll be busy doing that tomorrow and Sunday. He wanted to wait until later, but I gently reminded him that there might not be a later before my parents get here to visit. He agreed and I had to assure him that I won't hold it against him if he doesn't help. MEN!

I start with my trainer on Monday and I'm really looking forward to it. I plan on walking 3 miles (my usual) today, Sat and Sun. My first session she's going to have me jog 3/4 of a mile and walk the rest, so I hope this gets me ready for it!

Well, I need to go to the bank and deposit the paycheck! Hope all you chickies have a great day!

~Kim

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 09:15 AM

Pacer: It seems we were simul-posting! I love reading all these great sailing stories! If I didn't live in the desert, I might try convincing Jason that we need a sail boat! I know how hard fighting for new staff can be. Keep your chin up!

I saw it. I get up in the morning and make a bee-line for the computer with my glass of water! I usually catch all of you as you're going to bed.

Quickie post but had to comment on:
femmecreole, I almost choked on my SF jell-o laughing at your story!!
littlechick, I use evite website for online invitation--it's really easy to use.

Off to work and try to ignore the ongoing puppy saga. :(

Jess

femmecreole 07-13-2007 09:27 AM

I'm being chatty today...(the client who keeps me busiest is on a book signing trip today, so I'm not that busy..yehaa!)

I was reading the paper a few mintues ago and in the cooking section was a big article on smoked paprika and how to use it in recipes..they all sounded great, but some like smoked paprika butter were no-no's..but they do have a meat rub that sounds really good. Just need to substitute with brown sugar with something else like brown sugar splenda:

Smoked paprika dry rub

Makes about 3/4 cup

1/4 cup smoked paprika

3 tablespoons coarse salt

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

3 tablespoon light brown sugar (of course substitute an alternative!)

1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves

1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves

Combine all the ingredients together and store in an airtight container until ready to use.

tomandkara 07-13-2007 09:30 AM

What's smoked paprika? Do you buy that itself or is it a way to prepare paprika?

Kara

Sarynit 07-13-2007 09:31 AM

Hi all - this has to be quick today....Weezle - isn't it amazing how something fairly minor can build into something so painful? I'm glad to know the PT is working for you. I'm feeling very optimistic - although getting up an hour early for my appointments is no fun.

I didn't get to the gym yesterday because I remembered my dh and I had our dance lessons. There was a move we were really struggling with and the instructor had to come over and spend a whole song working on it with us (when she's usually walking around helping multiple people). I felt bad but I think we finally got it. There's hope for clutzes like me, yet!

Tonight we need to pack as we're off to LA for the weekend. We're off to see a concert there. We're not be LA fans but this is an annual thing we do so its a quick trip - fly in Sat morning and leave Sun morning. Its at the Hollywood Bowl which allows us to bring our own food and drinks in so I just have to decide what to bring that will be fun, yummy and on plan. The scale's still not budging much but I do feel like maybe my clothes are a bit looser so I'm staying positive. I just don't want to go overboard over the weekend.

Everyone have a great day! I'll try to stop in again perhaps tonight or first thing tomorrow - otherwise I'll be back on Sunday.

tomandkara 07-13-2007 09:33 AM

Have a fun trip, Sary!

Tom says to say good night because it's time for bed. See you all in the morning!!!

Kara

JessieW 07-13-2007 09:36 AM

Kara, You can buy paprika smoked. We've been using a stash than our friend brought us back from Hungary and are almost out--BOO! It's got an interesting flavor.

Shequila 07-13-2007 09:56 AM

Happy Friday! :dancer: Even if it is the 13th nothing is going to ruin my day today. I've got my McDonald's coffee and turkey bacon and I am a happy camper. I a delighted it's the weekend and it's supposed to be decent weather wise. I am attending an afternoon tea with my neighbor and dinner with friends tomorrow night. been trying to find a SB friendly dessert to bring that doesn't have any berries. Any suggestions?

LC-thanks for getting us and chatting this sunny am. Enjoy your pampering tonight. I've got myself an appoint for manicure, pedicure and eyebrow waxing myself tonight. Love my "me" time.

Schatzi-I hope next week is better for you....

Ruth-I hope you had a good workout. I just can't get myself to a gym just yet. Though reading everyone's post it certainly getting me movitated to do some exercise.

Femme-Great story! We live close to the Potomac and love to see the sailing school out in the water. It too reminds me of my childhood.

Cottage-I hope your day gets better. The OBX is one of my favorite places to vacation, though it's been a few years since I have been there. Enjoy! :swim:

Kiki-Congratulations on your 7lbs lost. That is awesome and you should be very proud of yourself. We are! :cp: Happy grocery shopping!

Kara-I love pizza day and before we went on SB we did it quite often. Now we use WW dough from Trader Joe's and make it at home. It's an easy meal and quite yummy.

Kitty-thanks for the visual....it certainly make you think before putting anything one's mough.

Charolastra00-How lucky are you for being in Cambridge. I grew up in western MA and I just love that whole area. Enjoy your walks!

Lisa, Stambler, Kid and everyone else...have a great day on the beach!

Cheers!

Sheila

Shequila 07-13-2007 09:58 AM

Jessie and Sary-we were posting at the same time. Have a great day on the beach!!!!

Ruthxxx 07-13-2007 11:37 AM

OMG! It's Friday the 13th again! That's why the jar of mayo rolled out of my cart and bunged me on the toe!

Good news though - I finally dropped that damned 3 pounds from last week! Now to keep it off. I think the break in the heatwave helped - plus lots of water and proper eating yesterday.

I'm just back from a re-evaluation session at the gym with Linda, my new trainer. She seems really good and has had a knee problem herself so was able to change my exercise routine to cope without pain. I am off the darned treadmill which really hurts after 5 minutes and used the recumbent bike which is no problem. She also showed me many leg strengthening and stretching exercises and started me on free weights! She spent two whole hours with me, demonstrating and spotting. So I'm off on a new track. (By the way, I renewed my membership for the next year!)

Loads of phone calls to return so I'd better get to them. See you later.

Back on Track 07-13-2007 11:38 AM

New girl on the beach!

Today is Day 1 on P1 for my and I just thought I would check in. I redid my ticker so I have the correct starting weight. UGH...almost 50# to loose...YIKES! I just can't wait to see those first 10# gone!

Kim~ Painting has become something I also have to talk my husband into letting me do. He tells me if I keep repainting at this rate the square footage of the house is going to go down. Oh yeah, he is quite the comedy act!

little chick 07-13-2007 12:28 PM

I am glad my hubby is a painter by trade, I never have to paint. Thank goodness cause I am terrible at it.

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 12:41 PM

I am the painter in the family. Jason lacks a certain attention to detail. I'm actually going to spend tonight going over some of his mistakes in the kitchen with Kilz. Geez!

Shequila 07-13-2007 01:38 PM

I actually LOVE to paint and find it very relaxing.
I do all the cutting in our house and occasionally I allow my DH to do the rolling. Our latest project was the halls and the stairwells and he ended up getting paint all over the ceiling in the stairwell using a telescoping handle. So now we are going to hire our neighbor who is contractor to paint the ceilings and to cut around the walls in the stairwells. I will be glad when that is done....

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 02:28 PM

Yeah, there are a few splotches on the ceiling from DH, but we're going to install crown moulding and that will cover it all up! ;)

Shequila 07-13-2007 02:41 PM

Originally Posted by Kim_Star060404:

Great idea, though not so easy in the stairwell.....

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 02:44 PM

Yeah, this is just our kitchen. Shouldn't be hard at all. I can't imagine doing it ourselves if we had stairs to worry about.

Barb0522 07-13-2007 03:05 PM

I really tried to get in here this morning but once again, work interfered. I didn't make it to the gym last night but I did get 50 minutes on the treadmill at home. And Brian got 35 while I was fixing dinner. It helps that we can motivate each other. Now if I could just get DH to exercise. He is much more overweight than I have ever been.

Kim_Star060404 07-13-2007 05:49 PM

Ah, the work week is almost over. After work DH and I are going to McCoy's to buy paint for the living room and some hardware for the cabinets. Then, out to eat and HOPEFULLY to see the new Harry Potter. We'll see how crowded it is at 9:15. I can't wait!

Barb: WTG for you and Brian. I have the same trouble with DH, he doesn't like to exercise for anything!
