The movie was wonderful in IMAX. The 3D portion was really cool and it has made me want to read the books. I've seen all the movies and we have all the books that have been released so far but I just need to read them now.

Yes, if you liked the movies, Barb, you should read the books. You'll love them! The movies really capture the feel, but of course there is so much detail in the books and the plot is deeper and richer. I am kind of jealous that I can't read them again for the first time! But that doesn't keep me from reading them over and over again. Every time, I pick up things I missed before.

Schmoodle, I am brand new to this site and I have never posted anything before. So here goes, I too can't wait for the last book but also dread it. I just re-read Order of the Phoenix so I would be right up to date for the conclusion. The same questions are running around my house. Personally I think (or hope) that Snape is good, Dumbeldore was actually begging to be killed for reasons yet unknown, and we might actually see Harry's parents somehow return. I got an email from Barnes & Noble (where I pre-ordered my book) that many locations are having HP parties on Friday night. Come as you are or dressed up as your favorite character and at the stroke of midnight, let the distribution begin!

I finally preordered my book. There's a free concert from 7-10 and then everyone is getting in line at 10. When I preordered the book, the girl recommended that I leave the concert half an hour early, pick up some food, and get in line inside before the line ends up out the door after the concert gets out. They're expecting to be able to distribute all the books in an hour though so that's good! Especially considering that so many people are buying from this one store because it's right off of Harvard Square and so convenient to get to.

We won't get it until Saturday morning from the library--probably late morning. I might not be able to sleep on Friday. It's like Santa Claus! LOL. :)

Yes, I pre-order already and will pick it up at the Friday midnight party. My daughter and I are both going to the party! :carrot: I can't wait! Saw the movie today in anticipation for Book 7.

I am SO ready for tomorrow. I have a few mini-splurges planned for tomorrow since I'm restarting SB again on Sunday anyway. I got a sugar free energy drink because I'm probably going to be up for 24 hours (first splurge.. though it's just junk, not necessarily unBeachy). I also got a few whole wheat bagels and am planning some toppings for each quarter- mushed bananas (maybe with some grated zucchini, no se), lox and tomatoes, and grilled veggies.

I'm planning on eating really light (though still nutritious) all day- no starches- and then plowing right through the night. :) I'm so excited! I'm just hoping the rain lets up, there's supposed to be an outdoor concert before the release plus people are probably going to have to stand outside!

I can't wait either. I told my husband that he's gonna be busy cooking dinner cause once I start reading I don't plan on stopping.:)

My book is getting delivered on saturday! then we're driving up to PA to see my fam who I will glance at from over the pages of the book! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my $0.02 - but I think McGonagall is going to be one who dies. She's old, very loyal to Dumbledore, a big influence on Harry... She's the one who was holding the school together behind the scenes when Dumbledore couldn't, and now she's Head Mistress. While I wouldn't consider her a main character, neither would I call her a secondary character either.

The same goes for Hagrid.

Killing off Snape would be way to predictable, and not the 'twist' that we've come to expect. The Malfoys - not big players, and would be expected. Neville - too much like Cedric... any of the Weasleys - too soon after OOTP snake attack on Mr. Weasley.

Offing Ron, Hermione, or Ginny shocking, devastating, crushing to everyone.

Now Harry and Voldermort. We know that Ms. R. doesn't mine controversy - she killed off Dumbledore - didn't she? But I think everyone expects Voldermort to die and Harry to live - that's the "Warm fuzzy" we all want there to be at the end of the series. However, I really don't think it's going to be that happy. I wouldn't be shocked if Harry is the one who dies at the end of the book. That would be fitting for Ms. R. to ensure the end of the saga (and make sure that no one else can continue writing after she's done). That being said - I do believe that deep down, most people think that's going to happen - they won't be happy about it though.

Warning, there is a spoiler in the Harry Potter thread under 3FC General Chat. One of the posters got hold of the book early at a public library, glanced at the end and posted some details. Not who dies, but still things I don't want to know. I'd prefer not to know anything for sure. I love the speculating, but don't tell me anything for sure. Now, everybody insert their earplugs!
